Trinitas Mundus

Episode XI: Collecting Information

Early morning of January 23rd, 3026 Tria calendar.

Rays lurked in the mountains near the village of Leriche, the forward base of the Demonic Army, as powdered snow broke out.

At a distance of about 3 km, now lurking on the shady side of the mountain, but if you climb the ridge, you can see the village.

Uno and Diez, the beastly slaves, approached the village of Leriche, checked the village's alert status and were just returning.

Uno's story was that vigilance was rather harsh, probably due to a fight with the Marcut Mercenaries (Red Arms) a few days ago and the fact that Luna, the son of the moon, was invited.

"The village is as far as we can confirm, but it continues approximately ten km east. Where the centre-like house stood, the perimeter was wooden, but walls stretched about three metres high. Perhaps to prevent small demons such as wolves… and even more centered on the Little Ghost Clan, about ten soldiers patrolled outside the walls and were on strict alert."

"Did you get inside the village?

Uno nodded at Ray's inquiry,

"There were several blind spots, so we infiltrated from there. Unfortunately, there were also many soldiers on patrol in the village, which we immediately pulled up…"

From what Uno confirmed, nearly two hundred soldiers were waiting, even at night, for the Little and Medium Ghost warriors. For this reason, we were unable to get close to the centre of the village and did not grasp the situation in Luna at all.

"On a personal note, it felt like I was wary of raids from the west. Perhaps it would be a prep for the Royal Kaum Army to be dispatched from Fort Toa"

Ray listens to the story and is convinced.

To the north and south of the village of Leriche is a cut off mountain, a terrain that cannot be entered without passing through narrow roads like valleys on the west side. Of course, it would be possible to cross the mountain like ourselves, but it was an impossible story for heavy units.

"Perhaps so. There was a Mercenary Corps (Red Arms) on the route here. That Red Arms is watching the Demon Army, and it's not surprising to think that Toa is sending troops."

Ashley nods, "Don't be considered," too, to Ray's explanation.

"But I'm not just wary of the west... Lord Uno, any good ideas?

Uno nods small and draws a simple map on the ground.

And pointing to the southeast side,

"This place is also close to the woods and I was wondering if it's unlikely to be blamed. This is an unsuitable place for troops to travel, so it seems that the enemy's guard is relatively low."

The place proposed by Uno is where the ridge of the mountain stretched out to the north, only about fifty meters from the village boundary.

"I, Nuebe and Ocho will assist you as you infiltrate Darvé and Lauri…"

Uno's suggestion is that Darvé and Lauri, the captives of Uno, Ocho and Nuebe and the Little Ghost tribe, invade Leriche. Though about 3m, the fact that there is a wall prevents the beasts with excellent physical skills from breaking in, leaving Dies with Uno confirming his inner details at Ray's disposal, and Seyce as an escort as well. In this way, it was said that we would be able to respond flexibly in an emergency. It should be noted that it is determined by the idea that it would be more natural for both of us to infiltrate the little ghost tribe than one, and that it would be easier for them to match their backs.

Where Ray tries to say something, Stella complains, "Let me accompany you too".

"I think it would be easier to persuade you to accompany me when you see me as helping Mr. Luna out"

Ray gets lost for a moment, but shakes his head (wears it).

"This time I'm going to keep it for information-gathering. This much vigilance means there should be more security around Luna. So I don't think it's possible to help..."

So I put my hand on Stella's shoulder,

"This time, Uno and the others are going to go in the back of the village to make sure they don't get in as much as possible. So I want you to be ready by my side this time."

Stella said something. I would, but I nodded quietly.

"Well, let's move as close as we can to where it's going to break in."

And Stella objected.

"This place has no trace of enemy scouts coming. If you can, shouldn't you be in this place and move before it gets dark?

Ashley agrees, "Right," and the Unos are nodding in the same way.

"You sure do. Shall we wait in this place? Shall we rest and remain vigilant with Mr. Uno and Mr. Darvé and Lauri, who act at night?"

"I was wondering if the perimeter vigilance would suffice if Lady Seyce and Stella were replaced. Excuse me, Master Arklight, but Master Ashley is too conspicuous."

Ray tried to argue "but......" but Ashley can stop him.

"You get some rest here. If anything, your magic will hold the key."

Stella also says, "Resting is an important task".

Ray had no choice but to say, "Okay," but I had a feeling that I would rest when I mentioned Luna's rescue.

Around 2pm.

We started moving to reach the break-in point around sundown.

Head to your destination to hide in the shadows of the leafy trees in the mountains of about two hundred m on the south side of the village of Lelice - the elevation seen from the village.

Fortunately, due to the weather with powdered snow, my vision is poor and I am able to proceed without encountering a patrol team on the devil's side.

As we approach the village, the footprints left by the patrol become more prominent and we are forced to proceed with caution. Still, in about three hours, we reach about 300 m to the location specified at the entry point.

It is the top of a chopped small cliff, with relatively good prospects, and if you clear your ears, you can hear the hustle and bustle in the village slightly.

"Okay, Mr. Uno, please. Don't push it though. If you feel Darvé and Lauri have also been suspected, turn back immediately."

Uno responds to Ray's words with "your will," and the Derves bow their heads silently.

They immediately began to act and went down the mountain to bypass the cliff.

Ray was keeping his posture low and observing the village of Leriche. I couldn't hide my surprise at the size of it as I looked at the village spreading beneath my eyes.

(It's a bigger village than I thought. It may be closer to the town than to the village. It's covered in snow, but there seems to be a lot of farmland... is the center around there? The two-story house is solidified, and the road is wide...... it's been over five days, but is Luna there?

Ashley, next door, groaned, "That's a pretty big village,"

"This size can feed hundreds of troops. Of course, the premise is that the land is rich..."

So I cut the words and whine to myself even more.

"I wonder how long it's been a village. It doesn't seem like ten or twenty years... and this place is hard to attack. I don't care if it's a small detachment, a large army can only come in from the west..."

Ray was responding to Ashley's soliloquy.

"Sure. If you attack here, you won't be able to use a cavalry, and you won't be able to use a carriage, so it's going to be difficult to move a large army. Night raids are also more advantageous for demons..."

Talking about that, I kept looking at the village.

After 6 p.m. an hour later, the Unos five were attached to the southeast fence.

Waiting for a patrol soldier to pass by, Ocho climbs the fence cleverly using a rope with a clasp. Face at the top of the protective wall with a suspension procedure and send a signal by hand when you make sure there is no abnormality.

When Ocho disappeared into the barrier, he climbed the walls in the order of Uno, Derve, Lauri and Nuebe and went inside the village.

Was the inside of the fence on the road, leaving many footprints of soldiers patrolling?

"Nuebe stands by near here. If you feel anything unusual, report it to Master Arklight immediately. Then let's go."

When Uno gave that instruction with the voice of barely hearing or not, he went into the orchard-like wooden tree about ten meters from the wall.

This orchard was rigged with songko, but we've already noticed it on reconnaissance last night, and it goes on fine.

After the orchard, the farmland was spreading. It had already gone about a km since it infiltrated the interior of the village, and houses began to appear everywhere.

As the sun is just falling, there are no crowds, but the light leaks out of the gaps in the wooden windows, reflecting a yellow line on the bright white snow. Getting closer, I hear the peasants who finished their meals laughing, feeling like peace itself, so much so that I don't think this is the front base of the Demon Army.

Approaching two or three hundred m to the centre of the village, Uno gave instructions to Darvé and Lauri.

"Go ahead and pretend to be a drunk soldier and listen to the rumors. Don't talk to me from yourself. He listened to me with a clear ear. You got it."

The two little ghost tribes nodded small and quickly entered the settlement in casual footsteps.

(Fewer enemy soldiers than last night. Looks like you could infiltrate now......)

With that in mind Uno sent Ocho a signal saying "Wait here", himself hiding in the shadows, following the Darves.

There are barracks near the centre of the village, many ghost tribes walking. There's a tavern ahead of them on their way, and some of them are already out of the tavern drunk.

The Derves go in without getting lost in the tavern. This liquor store is run by the Sochius Army - the Demon Army - and the nonstop ones are free to use.

Uno dives under the window of the tavern and stands ear to ear.

The stories I hear were a lot about dissatisfaction with my boss and my hometown, which was a conversation in a very ordinary liquor store. The only information that seemed to be useful was information that the defeated Little Ghost tribe unit had returned last night in Periclitle - the city of adventurers - and was making its acceptance.

(Is this why there were so many soldiers last night...)

In about thirty minutes, the Derves came out of the tavern.

Uno pulled the two of them into the back alley and said, "Any information?," he asks small.

Check the approximation in about a minute. The information they got showed that the son of the moon, who entered the village five days ago, was protected by the Great Ghosts early yesterday morning and headed east.

(Was it slightly too late... I should tell Master Arklight, but luckily the security is loose. You should be a little more informed......)

Uno gave instructions to two of the little ghosts to head out of the settlement where Ocho awaits. Darvé and the others follow Uno's instructions and, pretending to be drunk, head to the designated place.

He was called twice along the way, but cut through with a drunken act and safely joined Ocho.

Uno instructed Ocho to head with the Derves to the orchard, then he himself headed to the building where the command was located.

The building that is the command was the largest in this village and could easily be identified even from a distance.

There are medium ghost outposts standing around, but I am completely alarmed by the fact that it is the safest place to be, and I yawn loudly over and over again.

Uno carefully turns to the back door and goes up to the roof without sound. And when you find a room upstairs with no sign of a person, you plug a wire-like tool into a gap in the wooden window.

The wooden window had a simple sliding key, but in about ten seconds it came off without sound, slowly opening the window and infiltrating it.

There was no one in the room.

Is this room treated like a conference room or just has a long table and chairs, which is not particularly eye-catching. Listening to the door and exploring the hallway, but unpopular upstairs, Uno decided to explore the other rooms.

He opens the door quietly, exits the hallway, but is also not equipped with lighted demon props, and the light leaking from the ground floor illuminates the hallway blurred.

Proceeding down the hallway in a unique way that did not make any footsteps, he hit a room that looked like an office room.

He probes inside more carefully, making sure there are no people, and he enters the room without sound. Inside there is a desk and a document shelf and a small reception set. On his desk was a paperwork storage box, and he began to explore the paperwork.

Though they are of the beasts at night, they cannot read the letters in the darkness. He takes a small light demon prop out of his hip tool bag and lights it up.

The risk to be found increases, but from the construction of this room, it was considered that this was the office of a rather superior commander - perhaps the command class - and it was worth the risk of using the magic props of the lights.

We will check every document that looks like a report, taking great care not to change the order and arrangement of the documents.

And get the information you wanted on the fifth document.

(... Yesperi Mayuri of the Great Ghost Nation is in command and accompanied by thirteen Great Ghost Warriors. There are two samurai who take care of the son of the moon...... travel by carriage pulled by four horses...... the immediate destination is Kufili, the city of the Middle-Ghost...... head to Zalesier, the capital of the Ghost...... the final destination is Luberna, the capital of the Moon Demon......)

Furthermore, he found a map from the paperwork cabinet.

Because detailed maps are military confidential, they are strictly controlled in any country, aside from being taken out, and are restricted from viewing. This map was also stored on a locked document rack, but the uno with the key opening technique opens the bookcase as if nothing had happened.

And I'll take a quick copy of the parchment that was in the tool bag.

That map contained not only the location of the towns and villages of Kwaedham Tenebre, the streets, but also the areas requiring attention during military operations - such as safe watersheds and places where dangerous demons would surrender.

The time it took to get this much information was just about enough. Uno escaped from the building where the command was located without anyone noticing.

It had been about four hours since the infiltration by the time I joined the ochos and approached the barrier.

As we approach the barrier, more soldiers are patrolling. The soldiers had carefully checked the perimeter of the fence to see if they were alert to the intrusion of nocturnal demons.

Luckily for the Unos, the snow that was falling at night had turned into genuine snow. Thanks to this, the footprints left in the snow had disappeared and were never found by the soldiers on patrol. If it hadn't snowed, it was possible they'd discovered footprints, and Uno thanks heaven.

After rendezvous with Nuebe in the orchard and having spent the soldiers on patrol, he overcomes the fence.

The village remained quiet even after overcoming the fence, and their break-in was not noticed at all by the Demonic side.

By the time the date changed, the Unos had safely rendezvoused with the Rays.

Even though Ray expected information from Uno, he is discouraged by the information that Luna has already left.

(I thought if I could rest my body I'd move on to the capital, but I can't believe I'm leaving so soon...)

However, he switched consciousness and desperately gave thought to future policies.

(This is the map that Uno brought, going straight east to Kufili for about 100 km and further east from there Zalesier for 200 km. Two hundred and fifty km north of Zalesier to Luberna? They use horses over there, and the Big Ghosts are the main ones, so they should travel fast. Compared to that, we have to go on foot where it's difficult to walk because we have to go undetected on a promising plain. So it would be hard to catch up......)

See if you can walk to Darvé on a snow plain to catch up with the carriage,

"Probably difficult. There is snow in the streets too, but I don't think it's that much of an obstacle to traffic. But if you go through the woods, the plains will continue, so if it's sunny, you can foresee about a km. When that happens, you have to walk pretty far. It's a plain on the map, but there's an obstacle that's not listed, so I was wondering if it would slow down..."

On the map it is a plain, but by the way there are small rivers, swamps, etc., and it was said that bypassing it would be quite L.A.

(So, catching up at night and rescuing in town seems difficult. Surprises are difficult because the prospects are too good on the move. Then it will be a raid... difficult to ambush without surprise because there are thirteen great ghosts... If you believe in the map, it looks like it's the woods heading north from Zalesier, so we'll have to ambush them here. So we just have to shortcut where this blank...)

He communicates his thoughts to everyone. And ask Derve and Lauri about the places that are blank on the map.

In the story of Darvé and others, the centre of the land known as Kwaedham Tenebre was called “the land of death” or “the wilderness of despair”, a land the demons feared.

There are several valleys where alien demons travel and are overwhelmed. Water was a barren earth that contained poison and no plants could eat it either.

"Isn't that dangerous? No matter how short cut it is, it's too reckless!

Ashley strongly disagrees. In contrast, Ray did not bend the claim either.

"But it's more of a shortcut than chasing him directly! Normally I can't catch up with him... and if it works, I can get ahead of him. Besides, it's like a pretty deep forest between a city called Zalesier and Luberna, and we can't ambush on a promising plain, so this is all we have!

"Still. It's a dangerous place to stay away from even the Demons."

Ashley disagrees even more, but Ray shakes his head "The Cover".

"When I think about what happened after I got Luna back, I have to go through this place. You can't use the road to escape. Then I think we should go through first. It's worse when you run away."

Stella and Uno and others disagree, but Ray didn't pull it off to the end.

"We're not gonna make it. I can't tell you when, but I feel like if we don't get ahead of ourselves through here, we're gonna be in big trouble."

Ultimately, Ray's opinion was adopted and he left for the east without waiting for dawn.
