Chapter 45: Reconciliation

Around noon on March 1st.

The moon witch Elise Nortia took a heavy toll on her spirit due to the influence of the ritual of divinity induced by the Evil God. Though recovered by Ray's magic, his memory is confused or his eyes are out of focus.

"What is this place? The coming of the Dark God (Noctis)..."

Elise remembers that she almost got herself killed after squealing like that. And I trembled.

"That's different! It wasn't Noctis! That's something you shouldn't call out to this world...... Vanitas the Nothingness!... That's what destroys the world! ……

Varma cuddled Ehlis and asked him to give up his toddler: "It's okay now. Evil gods have disappeared," he whispers.

One or two minutes, after the condition continued, Elise realized what situation she was in. And I managed to regain my composure and stare at Varma.

"I wonder if you've helped me. Varma?"

Varma immediately denies it.

"No, white sorcerer, Lord Ray has cast the magic of peace of darkness."

Elise was surprised by the words and finally realized she was with the Rays.

"What do you mean…" but I immediately remember and convince myself of what happened to me.

"I was wrong. It wasn't the god of darkness (Noctis)... it was the god of nothingness (Vanitas). Vanitas was trying to destroy the world. We Moon Demons, no, I was manipulated by Vanitas..."

Ray found out what Vanitas did,

(I think I heard it somewhere. I think someone told me... is that the setting for my novel? I still can't remember......)

Ignoring him thinking, Elise looked him in the eye hard and said, "So, help me, what are you going to do?" Ask.

Suddenly he was told the story and Ray worried about how to return it and decided to change the atmosphere first.

"Introduce yourself first. My name is Ray Arklight. Just a mercenary and an adventurer. This is Ashley Markat, a fellow mercenary and my partner. Next door is Stella. My dear companion..."

Finish introducing the four beastly slaves: Seyce, Ocho, Nuebe and Diez.

Elise turns her gaze to Varma after pointing a harsh look at Ray.

"It's not what I'm hearing. The white magician was a holy knight sent by the Temple of Light, who talked about commanding troops in various countries. In fact, I hear that Lax and Periclitle have had a lot of pain in your eyes. Hey, Varma. It's not like your report either, is it true?

Varma also tilts her neck.

"I also thought the White Mage was one of Periclitle's military leaders. According to the information I got from the puppet Kutsuku, he's called the" White Army Master, "enough to be a poem."

Ray laughs bitterly at the words.

"That's what they did call it, and the bard seems to have spread a lot, but his identity is just one of the private mercenary corps, and that's just one of the new Americans. I didn't officially become an officer of the Adventurer Guild just because I got a temporary staff assistant to the Commander in the Adventurer's City of Periclitle."

Varma makes the face even more incredible.

"But the information I gathered indicates that Lax's hero, the white warrior, came to the rescue after learning in advance of the demonic invasion and throwing everything to protect Periclitle... I can't believe it"

Ashley opened her mouth first as Ray patrolled worried about how to answer.

"That's a rumor circulated by Lord Randall Ogburn, Defense Commander of Periclitle."

"Really... that Orvo Kronvar was defeated by a mercenary... but I heard he was leading the Holy Knight in battle. You're still wearing the same armor. I don't think you're lying, but I don't believe you."

For Varma, who is witnessing the Periclitle offensive, it was hard to believe that Ray was not a commander or a holy knight.

"I'm not a saint knight. First of all, I was killed once by the Bishop of Light God. Besides, I had to use them then. This armor is similar to that of the Holy Knight, but it's not the same."

Ellis nodded small,

"Okay. I believe you are not a member of the Temple of Light. Because there should be no one involved in the Temple of Light who uses the magic of darkness in peace. I can use the magic of light too, but there's hesitation."

Ray relieves himself of the word. But Ellis had not broken his grim look.

"This is the answer to my question just now, but I'm not going to do this to you. We're just here to help Luna, our buddy. If we can help Luna, we're not going to interfere in this country."

"I mean, I'm here to help your son, but does that just prevent Vanitas from descending? Or maybe it means bringing your son back west? Our response will change depending on the answer."

"Evil God, no, the primary purpose is to keep Vanitas from taking over. Of course, eventually, I'm going to go back to my people."

Ray declares as he takes Elise's strong gaze.

"Then when you take the Son of the Moon from us. That is unacceptable. This is our grief."

"But isn't that because Vanitas was manipulating you? And Luna was caught. Ignore her will."

Ellis gets stuck in words at Ray's strangulation. In fact, it's not clear at what point we started being manipulated by Vanitas. If so, it is possible that the presence of the "Son of the Moon” was a fantasy for the Demons in the first place.

Ray wasn't willing to make any more arguments.

Since there was no way to prove how long the Moon Demons had been manipulated by Vanitas, because he reconsidered that hunting down their opponents was not about solving them.

"I don't think discussing that right now will solve the problem. We should make it a priority to wake Luna up first."

Ellis thought the same way Ray did.

"Right. I have no objection to your son's recovery first."

"I don't know, is it possible to cure Luna with the magic of tranquillity I used on you? I embraced all that power. I'm not sure I'm doing it right now."

Elise did not answer Ray's question instantly.

(I'm sure he's right. Even I was just nearby...... even I, the user of dark attribute magic resistant to fear, felt that much fear. That means your child must be feeling an unimaginable fear. It is also possible that he escaped into the depths of his spirit to protect his soul before feeling fear... then the semi-productive way is counterproductive...)

She will tell the Rays about it.

"... the halfway way way way to help your child is counterproductive. I think we should use the magic of the Great Temple to speak to Michi, the power of the Dark God."

Ray nods, but Stella disagrees.

"Aren't you going to do the Noctis summons again there? Those of you priests who believe that there is no alternative to some sacrifice if you are to gain the power of God. So again this time..."

That's where Ray puts his hand on her shoulder.

"Neither Lord Elise nor Lord Varma are so terrible."

"But..." Stella still tried to rebel.

"And this time Luna's, son of the moon's life is at stake. You shouldn't do anything that would endanger her life. Isn't that right, Lord Ellis, Lord Varma?

The two nod instantly. Further, Varma looked firmly into Stella's eyes,

"What the Beast lady is saying hurts my ears, but I'm not mistaken. But we, no, I really admire your son. So I'll protect you even if I change my life. Wouldn't that convince you?"

Stella searches for words, but when Ray told her, "The only way to help Luna is to trust them," she had to shut up. Still, I wasn't convinced in my mind.

Luna was captured because she puppeted her party leader, Hazel, and further forced Luna to surrender to shield the life of party member Ryan. Even before that, he puppeted women and guild officials tailored to hookers, killing them for mouth sealing after they were no longer worthy of use.

(Varma (this man) is using his vile hands to grab Mr. Luna. I have no hesitation whatsoever in using people's lives, people's feelings, if for a purpose. Has Lady Ray forgotten that?... I need to keep an eye on these people and make sure they don't do anything on their own...)

Stella strongly swears to her heart that she protects the Rays.

Then he explained how the Rays got here. Particularly surprising was the story of crossing the wilderness of despair.

"He said he crossed that desperate wilderness! I can't believe it."

“Desperate Wilderness” means the same to the Demons as “Death”. Two thousand years ago, when he came to this land after his country, he lost many of his compatriots. Not only that legend, but many reckless young people have challenged themselves to show their power, and none of them have survived.

"But you don't seem to be lying. I even know Murder, the murderer of Invisible."

As the Rays talked, Dies, the beast man who was vigilant around him, said, "It's a wing demon tribe in the air!" and issued a sharp warning. When they all looked up, there was one wing demon, flying at low altitude looking for something along the street.

Varma nods at Elise's voice, "I think you're here to confirm... that's Maryana," and asks Ray for permission to land.

"Lord Ray, that man is a priest of the Great Temple. May I call you here?"

When Ray nods, Varma goes out onto the street and waves her hands wide. The cleric, known as Maryana, has gained so much momentum that he sees it and wonders if it would clash to the ground.

It wasn't about hitting the ground, but at the same time landing much momentum. With a glance, he asks Varma, "Master Ehlis... which way is Master Ehlis..."

"Take it easy. Your son and Elise are there. And your sister."

Maryana runs out toward those to whom Varma pointed. Varma was laughing bitterly at the sight.

"Dear Elise... I'm so glad you're okay... are you hurt?

Maryana, who is heartbroken by Elis, did not see Luna, son of the moon, nor Keira, sister.

"I'm safe, just calm down a little bit. You will always be."

Elise gently reprimands Maryana with a laugh. Marjana finally sees the situation around her in the words and blushes at what she was rushing to do.

Maryana was relieved that her beloved Elise was safe, but confused by the fact that her sister was seriously injured and that the son of the moon was unconscious. He also questioned the fact that there were no wing demons and their families, who were further escorts, and instead there were people and beasts.

"Has something happened... how can I..."

"I'll explain the situation later. We're in a hurry now. Return immediately to Luberna and have the carriage ready. We have to bring your son to the capital by the end of the day!

Elise strongly commanded Maryanna, who was baffled.

Maryana instantly nodded at a strong command from the witch, though not convinced in her heart, and rose to the sky.

Around 3: 00 p.m., the noise of a wheel called a rag echoed. Uno appears for the sake of touch.

As soon as I found Ray, I poked one knee and started reporting.

"It's a welcome from Luberna. The priests of the Temple of Darkness and their escorts."

"Good luck. Were the clerics convinced?

I nodded small at Ray's inquiry,

"Until I gave you Lord Varma's letter, I was skeptical, but then it was a mess like poking a hive. He hardly cares about me, either."

I saw two carriages at the time Ray nodded. Twenty wing demons are swirling over the sky, escorting the carriage.

As Elise and Varma wait on the road, Maryana emerges from the carriage and immediately kneels before Elise. The priests of the Winged Demons who emerged from behind are equally kneeling.

"It's late," Marjana said, bowing her head, Elise said, "Time is a waste. I command you to take your son to the carriage immediately".

When Ray tries to carry Luna, the cleric says "out of the way" and pushes him away, putting him on a stretcher. Ashley and Stella tried to protest the act, but Ray stood in front of the two of them and said, "You should go to the capital as soon as possible now" and stop.

Varma reminds me of Ray as Elis tries to get in the carriage with Luna.

"Should Lord Ray be with us?"

"Right. That's fine."

Ealis acknowledges without thinking particularly deeply. Varma tries to get into the carriage with Ray, but Maryana and the clergy opposed a ruled class of people riding the same carriage as the witch of the moon, the supreme power.

"I was wondering if you would like to have a human spirit with the witch..."

"These are the ones your son needs. This is what Elise wants."

When Varma says so, the clerics reluctantly convince.

"Lord Ray, Lord Ashley and Lord Stella are here, and Uno and the others are going to another carriage"

Encouraged by Varma, the Rays ride the carriage, but Uno exclaimed, "Because we will be on guard around the carriage". Varma laughs bitterly that the Unos don't trust themselves, but admits that there is no choice in this situation.

In the meantime, Elise had given Maryanna an order.

"Return to the capital as soon as possible to prepare your son's seat and convene the clergy. We will perform a ritual to repair your son's soul. Collect all the priests you can gather in the Great Temple."

Maryana thanked the ealis with her incisive expression without asking why, and went straight up into the sky.

The second carriage ran out for Luberna.
