Trinitas Mundus

Episode 68: Policy for Return

March 18th.

The day after the welcome feast, Luna woke up feeling a dull pain in the back of her head.

(I feel a little sick... I wonder if this is a hangover...)

Ever since I became an adventurer in Periclitle, I've been a drinker, but I haven't found it so tasty, and I've never been bothered by deep liquor.

Ione, her entourage, who realizes she's awake, calls out.

"Good morning. How are you feeling?

Ione herself hasn't drank enough to get hung over from the standpoint of being an entourage. Also, the priesthood has never bothered me before with hangovers. However, during a village tour as a healer, he had participated in the festival several times, watching the young man suffer from a hangover and realizing that Luna was hungover.

"Thank you. I feel a little bad, but I can't stand it."

While that was good, when I started dressing, Ione offered me a cup with liquid.

"I think drinking this would make it a little easier. I wish I could cure it with healing magic, because it doesn't work for hangovers."

Luna was in doubt as she received the cup.

(I think there was some magic that worked for the hangover... was that the original magic? I think I used it normally in that village...)

When Luna says that,

"Maybe there's more healing magic research going on in the west."

That's what Ione says and laughs at.

(I wonder since when you've spoken so naturally. I hadn't noticed that before...)

Luna realized that she had come to treat me naturally, but she didn't say anything about it.

Ione was even more intoxicated by Luna because of what happened in Rowni, but on the other hand realized what she was looking for. She thinks Luna wants a trusted “companion," not a “servant," and makes an effort to change her attitude. In the shadow of it was Ray's advice, and he was told to do as much as possible to have these casual conversations.

"Shall I ask Master Ray later? I think he might know."

After saying that, a slight laugh leaks. When Luna is tilting her neck,

"Lady Ray had a lot to eat last night, so I thought by now she would be suffering just like Lady Luna..." The White Mage. "I imagined the Lord would suffer from a hangover, and it was a little strange"

Luna also imagines Ray suffering from a hangover, which erupts small.

"That's true. Thank you. It's a lot easier."

The medicine didn't work, but I felt the symptoms were somewhat lighter in Ione's care.

Moving into the hall for breakfast, Ray with a slightly blue face and Ashley and Stella as usual were waiting.

"Morning. I think I drank too much yesterday, okay?" Ray called out.

"Morning, Ray. Good morning. Mr. Ashley, Mr. Stella," after returning his greetings,

"I'm feeling a little sick. I think he's hungover. But I think it'll heal soon because Ione gave me the pills."

"I'm relieved that Luna is just like me. Ash looks fine no matter how much he drinks, and Stella saves a decent amount no matter how exciting, so I'm the only one who's always hungover."

Everyone laughs at the words.

"But if it's hard, I'll cure it."

"I knew you had it," Luna laughs when Ray says. As the Rays are tilting their necks,

"I was talking to Ione about that. I don't cure hangovers with healing magic..."

The breakfast table was surrounded by a fun atmosphere with such stories.

After breakfast, the topic will be about future policy.

"... I want to leave as soon as possible, but I need to talk to the Zalesche people. Perhaps people will gather from the neighborhood, so we'll stay here for a couple of days."

Everyone nods at Ray's story.

"Right. I want to tell everyone as much as I can, and I'm ready... what do you think of that area?

Ashley answers the question.

"As a result of discussions with Ray, there are about three hundred and fifty km (Kimmel) here from Zalesche to Toa. Even if I use a carriage, I can only use it to the reliche in front of Toa. It's just too uncomfortable riding a carriage on Toa..."

Ashley's explanation was as follows:

From Zalesche to the village of Leriche, an invasion stronghold to the west, it is about three hundred kimmels. In the meantime, use the carriage to travel in about ten days. At the end of Leriche travels on foot, disguising himself as the wind that has fled with his life. The itinerary was scheduled for about three days and that if things went well, we could be in Toa in early April.

"… the escort to Leriche is going to hit the elite recruited from the main clan"

Luna wonders if she needs excellence in a safe street.

"Is there a reason? I didn't feel any danger when I came here from Lerice."

Ray answered the question.

"I have a strong political connotation. A lot of people told me you weren't very welcome in Leriche."

Luna remembers when she entered Leriche through the foothills of Aquila, nodding loudly.

"That's the front line of the invasion to the west. Naturally, many people are looking for birth and fame. Plus the soldiers who fled back from the west tell a lot of stories. Of course there's something about me in it."

"Right," Luna nods.

"It's not just about me. I brought you to this country with all that damage, and when I'm going back to the West, there's a good chance there 'll be people out there who disagree. So if you lead the great men of the main clan into Leriche, I think you have to shut up wherever you think you are."

As Luna nodded at his explanation, Ashley started talking again.

"Return to Toa goes from the front. The interstate we used is too dangerous. There's a danger of demons, but we don't even know when an avalanche will break out in the spring."

And I will explain the details as well.

"We shall have recaptured you relatively close to Toa. The only reason it took me so long was because I was lurking deep in the woods to shake off enemy pursuits."

"How can you explain that?

Ray also answered the question.

"There are many reasons. First of all, it's unnatural to enter the enemy country for hundreds of kimmels to help you and return without a thing. I might be able to do it if I had the local interest, but I can't travel more than a thousand kimmels while spreading chasers in places where there's no map."

Luna nods loudly.

"Any other reason?" Ray nods at the word.

"I don't want to give you much information about a country called Sochius."

"I can see that somehow. Root digging, leaf digging, and you're thinking about what happened after I got back here."

"Exactly. I don't know what's in Jilsall, but at least the war between Sokius and the countries of the West has to end. I feel like I'd rather have Lord Ehlis and Lord Tarvo meet me now than give me halfway information"

As for Ray, I don't really want to lie, but Fort Toa's command is a conservative figure, and all of a sudden he's likely not going to believe me when I say Sokius is looking for peace.

If you come back further into the center of the enemy, you could also be imprisoned and tortured on suspicion of being a spy. Even if you're not imprisoned, it's easy to imagine a prolonged interrogation.

"I wondered one thing, how many people know about me, about my son in the moon"

"Only some people know about the Son of the Moon. But it's not like he's completely unknown. Especially the people on Periclitle know the Demons attacked after you. What's that?

"Why don't you try to use me to negotiate against Sochius?"

Ashley also understood Luna's concerns.

"In other words, you are concerned that he is known to be the son of the moon and that he will be captured at Fort Toa and made into a bargaining story against the Demons. Ray, what do you think?

"That's certainly possible. You might want to change your plans..."

That's when Stella, who had listened quietly until now, asked to speak.

"Don't Mr. Luna and Mr. Ione have to go into the fort? Why don't you decide that you failed to recapture Mr. Luna and came back. I don't think they'll notice us rendezvous anywhere on Toa Street afterwards......"

Stella's idea is to use the intermediate road towards the village of Leriche and return to Fort Toa. When entering the fort, leave Ray, Ashley and Stella alone, and Luna and Ione decide to rendezvous somewhere on Toa Street while the Unos escort them.

It is unlikely that Luna's orb - a demonic prop to prove her identity - will be noticed to be the same person as the Son of the Moon, as it belongs to the adventurer and her name is not so unusual.

Ione only has the orb of Sochius, but keep that orb broken and register as a new adventurer. I get a lot of confirmation from the Adventurer Guild when registering, but since she's not guilty herself, if there's nothing strange about the conversation at the time of registration, I can register without a problem.

"... it might as well be. If the Mercenary Corps (Red Arms) stayed, I might talk to Mr. Hamish and then change my policy, but he probably shouldn't be..."

Ray and Ashley thought the Hamish and the Red Arms were back in the kingdom of Lax, where they were already based. We can confirm that the Great Ghost tribes that were carrying Luna headed east, because they have lost their great nickname as Demonic Crusaders.

"Well, I'll make sure. Travel by carriage to Leriche. Then return to Toa on the route into Sochius. Just in front of the fort, me and Ash, the three Stellas return to the fort, and Luna and Mr. Ione and Mr. Uno continue west along Toa Street. We'll rendezvous somewhere after we leave the fort. I wonder if we can get this far."

So Uno asked to speak.

"Isn't it unnatural that we don't return one? I also believe that it would be advantageous to have a liaison role beside Master Arklight later."

Ray nods loudly thinking he's right.

"Right. Is it okay for the four of us near Toa Street?"

"The escort alone would suffice for two, but I thought it was in the woods, and I wondered if the three would be appropriate. I think it would be easier to accommodate a change of plan with two people beside Lord Arklight."

Ray confirms to Ashley, "If Lord Uno is good enough for three, let's not have a problem," he replies, nodding as if Stella agrees.

"Then Luna has Mr. Uno and Mr. Ocho and Mr. Dies. For me, Mr. Seyce and Mr. Nuebe. If you need anything else, give me your opinion."

I don't have any particular opinions and will go further.

"Ahead of Toa Street, there are two routes..."

Toa Street is a two-hundred-km (Kimmel) long street that connects Fort Toa with the Ars Street lodging town of Barbezi. From Barbezi there is a route northbound on Ars Street and southbound.

The northbound route goes west on Aurelia Avenue via Periclitle and is the route from Aulera to Gilsor by sea.

The southbound route, on the other hand, passes through Ars and continues through the eastern realm of the Caerm Empire, further south down the southern streets from the imperial capital Plymouth, becoming the route from Cheslock to Gilsor.

There is no significant difference between the northbound route being more than a thousand km ashore and the southbound route being less than a thousand km, but there is a difference in cloud mud over the distance travelled by sea.

"As far as I'm concerned, I think a route south into the empire would be nice, but if you have an opinion, I'd like you to say it."

Ashley looks to Ray and begins her remarks.

"I agree with Ray's idea, too. If we go north, we will inevitably pass through Periclitle. Then you'll meet someone who knows about Luna. I hear from Ars that streets in the eastern realm of the Empire will continue to have rugged mountain roads, but given that the season will get better, there will be less risk"

"I agree with the southbound route too," Luna remarked.

"I've been to the Imperial City, but I think it would have been okay if I hadn't used the carriage even in the middle of winter. Besides, if we got into the Imperial side, the road would be better, and we wouldn't have been insecure. I don't really know where we're going from Empire, but I think it was safe."

"I didn't know you'd been to Imperial City. How many years ago was that?

Ashley thought he was just an adventurer. I was surprised to hear that Luna had been to the Empire City. Ordinary adventurers often have bases near their origins, and even mercenaries never go to the heart of an empire nearly 1,000 km from Periclitle, because even Ashley, a mercenary reaching the veteran realm, had only traveled to Ars, king capital of the Kingdom of Kaum.

"About seven years ago. It was when I was a kid, but I remember it right, so it's okay."

When Luna said that, she had far-sighted eyes to miss those days.

"Well, on the route south, for now, it's settled. Check the information in Toa or Barbezie to decide which way you want to go eventually"

The course of action of the Rays was determined.
