Episode Seven: The Return of the Red Arms

Time goes back about two months.

On February 1st, two hundred mercenaries who participated in the demonic pursuit, including the Mercenary Corps of Markat (Red Arms), were about to leave Fort Toa.

The mission was not entirely successful, not much has been achieved, but because mercenaries other than the Marcut Mercenary Corps have begun to insist on their return.

The fact that the remnants of the Great Ghost tribe confirmed that they had fled east, the fact that no trace of the Demon tribe was found even after several reconnaissances were sent out, and that the burden on the nations would be greater for that matter if they continued to extend for no reason, is also a reason for their return.

Even as Hamish Markat in command, he made a bitter decision, thinking that stretching it without clear reasons would not gain the understanding of the nations, starting with the city of Periclitle.

But not everyone left Fort Toa.

In the name of liaison personnel, two remain: Alberic Auge, Hamish's deputy, and Ryan Marley, who was part of Luna's Adventurer Party.

On his departure, Hamish said to Alberic, "Ashes, please," on the top of the Buddha, and his wife Valeria also laughed, "I'm anxious to leave it to Brother Al, please," he said.

We were both heartbroken about Ashley and Ray, but we didn't talk about it.

"Leave it to me. When it's spring, Ryan's training's gonna go into the mountains, and we're gonna find some kind of trail."

Alberic speaks in such a tone that he goes for a walk, but Aquila Mountain is a dangerous place where third-degree equivalent demons frequently surrender and sometimes even first-degree equivalent dragons appear.

Even if he is a second-class mercenary, called super-class, scouting alone is a life-threatening action, and if accompanied by Ryan, who is not even level thirty, the danger increases even further.

"Don't be impotent. Ray's on. He'll come back looking like nothing happened to him. I'm more worried about you getting in my way."

Alberic made a face that he was out of his heart,

"I don't have that, Hamish. Even I think about it. Make it the funniest."

Hamish and Valeria hold the temples to that word.

"Either way. Send me regular contact. As I've already explained, after we return to Periclitle, we return to Fonce."

The Mercenary Corps of Markat originally headed south from the Kingdom of Lax for relief to Periclitle, but has since pursued as a Demonic Crusader at the request of the City of Periclitle and the Adventurer's Guild. For this reason, it was to report once to the city of Periclitle and then return to Fonce, the king's capital of the Kingdom of Lax, where it is based.

Valeria stood in front of Ryan standing behind Alberic and said, "Don't push yourself either. Whatever Brother Al says is to listen in half," he says, pounding his shoulder.

"Yes, I will continue to wait for Luna here, even if Mr. Al returns"

With a serious look, tell him to declare.

He had become a full member of the Mercenary Corps of Markat. Fort Toa also has a branch of the Mercenary Guild, which, after registering as a mercenary, is part of the second squad led by Zenga Ormiga.

As Ryan says, Alberic is supposed to stay here for only six months and return to Fonce around the summer if the Rays don't come back.

Because the western countries, including the Kingdom of Kaum, had no information about the "eternal darkness (Kwaedam Tenebre)", the land of the demons, and did not know to what extent the Rays would return, and because they decided that if they did not return after six months of waiting, they would all be dead.

Ryan, on the other hand, had no intention of going back after six months. Fortunately, there is also a branch of the Adventurer Guild in the land, where it is possible to live if you hunt demons near fortifications.

Compared to Periclitle the most, Toa's prices on the border are high and may be tough on his income to the extent of a solo sixth-degree adventurer.

Still, he was going to keep waiting. In the worst case scenario, I am also thinking of enlisting in the Fort Toa defense. This place was constantly recruiting, and enlistment was possible even if it was not King Kaum's people, if they were those enrolled in the Adventurer's Guild or the Mercenary Guild.

The mercenaries left Fort Toa in the middle of winter.

Leftover Alberic and Ryan started training after dropping them off.

When he broke up with the Rays, Ryan's magician level was only twenty-three, but he started Zenga and has raised his level to twenty-five in just a month with special training by the fierce men of the 2nd Squad. However, it was the difference between the Rays of Level 40 and the cloud mud, and they were going to do further special training to make the difference slightly smaller.

Alberic is top notch both as an archer and a swordsman, but he is out of specialty and unable to teach about Halvard used by Ryan. But Ryan convinced Alberic that he would be able to train in action form.

At that time, Alberic said, "I hear my training is tough. You might be hearing from the Ashes, but still okay? confirms."

"I'm listening. Still, I'd like to ask you. If it helps Luna at all, I'll put up with anything."

The Red Arms mercenaries, who are famous for their rigorous training, say they don't just want to train with Alberic. Ryan knows that, too, and he actually went through it several times and felt the harshness of it.

Alberic makes a fierce attack, breaking a bone or hanging a healing magic on the spot to make him stand up, forcing him to pull up and continue his training, even if he can no longer stand up while falling. For that reason, there are only a few others in the squad besides Captain Gareth Ayring who endured his training for more than a day.

Ryan's special training was continued at the Fort Toa training ground and at the Mercenary Guild training ground. Initially, the soldiers frowned at that unscrupulous training, and the like-minded and others even went into a halt. But from the time Ryan at the time kept turning it down, and after ten days, many people reviewed him.

Then, a month passes and by the time we get into March, we will be entering the mountains frequently, gaining experience in action. He also fought large demons such as Grade 5 equivalent gray bears, agile snow wolves, and even rare demons like stone golems.

As a result, by April, he has made an amazing track record of increasing his level by five in just three months with the Magician Level 28. Normally, the level of those past level twenty was raised once or twice a year, a story so famous that there was no stranger among the soldiers of the fort for its insanity.

The Hamish, who left Fort Toa, did not travel unscrupulously like an outbound journey, travelling a distance of five hundred km (Kimmel) in twenty days, and arrived safely in Periclitle on February 20.

When he left at the end of the year, Periclitle had been burned and desolate by a quarter of the city, but had rebuilt so visibly in a short period of less than two months.

The sound of the carpenters' living voices and hammers is constantly echoed in the East End, where people overflowed the city and were further burned by Ray's measures.

Hamish headed to Adventurer Guild headquarters, which is also the administrative agency of Periclitle. Behind him is his wife, Valeria, captain of the Fifth and Lazareth Dawell, captain of the Third.

“Red Arms”, the famous mercenary regiment, is immediately passed under the Alliance Commander.

Alliance chief Reginald Warbeck and defensive commander Randall Ogburn showed up as soon as he was put through to the reception room.

"You've come back a lot. Apparently, the enemy has fled home," Hamish takes that hand as soon as Reginald offers his right.

"I wouldn't even say it's a waste of legs, but it's been a little too long. Sorry."

Hamish says so and bows his head.

The Demonic Pursuit Corps, which is dominated by this Marcut Mercenary Corps, was formed in the form requested by the City of Periclitle, but essentially because Ray moved soldiers and citizens to reclaim Luna.

Formally, though, the city is requested by the City of Periclitle, so a charge for the costs is made to the city. Of course, the agreements will allow countries to contribute their share, but there is no difference in placing a heavy burden on the city at a time when funding is needed for reconstruction.

In response to Hamish's words, Randall denies it in his usual light tone.

"No, there was actually a great ghost tribe. Plus, I hear hundreds of ghost tribesmen are out near Toa. If you guys hadn't gone, something like what Ray said might have happened."

The official purpose for which the Pursuit Squad was formed was to prevent the remnants of the Great Ghost tribe from lurking on the west side of Fort Toa and calling it the main unit on the east side. In that regard, the discovery of the bypassing route of Fort Toa and the subsequent battle with the Great Haunted Troops led by Nestori prove that the purpose was not wrong.

"In any case, the Kingdom of Kaum will respond in the future. The Demon Pursuit Team is disbanded today."

Reginald's declaration led to the dissolution of the Demonic Crusaders. Daily allowances are paid to match the rank, but a respite has been offered to the Marcut Mercenary Regiment.

"I'm sorry, but will you wait until I get back to Fonce? I don't have any money now. The rest of them can handle it because they don't have a big class of guys, but your place isn't going to be sprinkled with money. Let me pay at Fonce's Duke's. Please."

Reginald says so and bows his head. Payments to the Mercenary Corps of Markat exceeded half a million kronas (about 500 million yen) for pursuit alone, and that much cash could not be made available. For this reason, he has requested proceedings at the Fonce branch, where Duke Selzam is branch manager.

"We don't mind, are we okay?

Reginald only answers "Oh" to Hamish's words.

"Gold itself can be managed because it can be taken from countries. The only reason I picked you up at Fonce is because Lux decided to send you guys. I'm going to win a contribution from Sartooth."

Countries are supposed to work together to hit the demonic invasion, and distant countries, urban states without inherent armies, etc., will work together in the form of contributions.

This time, the Kingdom of Lax is in the position of temporarily hiring and dispatching a markat mercenary regiment. This is because the eastern part of the country is disturbing, but the contract itself is only for the rescue of Periclitle, with no pursuit in it. For this reason, it is possible that the Kingdom of Lax will refuse to bear the full amount, but at that time it will be awarded a contribution from the Kingdom of Sartooth in the north, which is not taking part in the fight.

At the end of the meeting with the Reginalds, Hamish and the others leave the headquarters.

"We're tough, too, but that sounds tough," said Valeria, shrugging, Lazareth clapping her shoulders.

"Well, it's a miracle this place didn't wipe out. The Commercial Alliance will do something about it."

It was the commercial guild that founded the Adventurers Guild, and it is also the commercial guild that benefits the Adventurers most.

If the operation of that Adventurer's Guild were to lag behind, the streets would be flooded with demons, which would interfere with commercial activity. It was Lazareth's opinion that commercial guilds would have to support adventurer guilds in order not to.

He was a former adventurer and lived in Periclitle for a long time, which also led to these circumstances.

"In the meantime, you get paid. We'll wait for them at the nostalgic Fonce."

Valeria nods loudly when Hamish says so.

"Right. But is he coming back to Fonce? It just keeps flowing off somewhere."

It wasn't particularly well-founded, but Valeria didn't think the Rays would come back honestly.

Hamish was thinking the same thing.

"Maybe so. But it's also Ash's house over there. We have to wait and do it."

Upon returning to the inn, gather the mercenaries and tell them that payment will be made here in Periclitle, apart from the Marcut Mercenaries.

"We Red Arms go back to Fonce like this. I've been taken care of for a long time."

With that said Hamish bows his head, the mercenaries begin to panic. Because Hamish is a hero to them.

"Keep your head up, Mr. Hamish," he said, adding, "Take us to Fonce, too," and those who wish to join the Mercenary Corps of Markat continue.

In contrast, Hamish makes it awesome to say, "If you want to go into the Red Arms, you get an entrance exam". The young mercenaries who were raising their voices to the word tone down.

The Markat Mercenary Corps entrance exams were very rigorous, plus it was famous that post-enlistment training was not comparable to regular mercenaries, and many gave up that it was impossible for them.

In the end, only twenty of the hundred mercenaries other than the Mercenary Corps of Markat wished to join the Corps, of whom only seven passed.

Hamish and the others left Periclittle for Fonce, king's capital of the Kingdom of Lax.

Valeria looked out at the eastern mountain range Aquila as she left the gates of Pericritle,

(Ash, come back soon. because everyone is waiting)

In my heart I was speaking to Ashley, who was also equal to my sister.
