Lesson 13: Rendezvous

After 3pm on April 13th.

Toa Street is a military road that connects the Aortic Als Street with Fort Toa, the main impulse of the Kaum Kingdom. For this reason, most of those who use Toa Street become Royal Army officials and merchants transporting supplies to Fort Toa.

Talljig was an accomodation town 40 km (Kimmel) west of Fort Toa, no bigger town east than here, and also the most eastern town with branches of the Adventurer Guild, except for Toa.

Luna and the others were lurking in the woods close to here, but the beast slave Uno told us that the Rays had come and went out into the streets to join them.

Ray waited for Luna, guarding his surroundings.

Ryan is showing his restlessness beside him. He had tried many times to look into the woods as he moved his body left and right.

"Calm down, Ryan," Ashley laughed bitterly enough to pay attention, but he couldn't be there or standing himself.

"I'm sorry. But there's nothing I can do about it. We can finally meet Luna."

That being said, he kept looking into the woods without turning his gaze to Ashley.

Uno appeared as a touch. When he poked one knee in front of Ray, he made a brief report.

"Nothing went wrong. Lord Luna and Lord Ione are also good winners."

"Thank you," Ray lowered his head, and he heard scratching a grass called Gassa from the woods.

Soon Luna, led by Ocho, appears.

Ryan was popping up when Ray tried to say, "Looks safe and above all".

When he stood in front of Luna, he said, "I'm glad you're safe!," he shouts, poking his knees and begins to cry. Though Luna is baffled by the way it looks,

"I'm sorry to bother you. I'm safe here..."

That's what I say. Hold Ryan tight.

Still, Ryan's crying didn't stop. Luna gives a look of confusion, but the Rays looked at him smiling.

Ryan calmed down in about five minutes.

"I'm sorry...... you've shown me the mess"

I bow my head to everyone as I blush. Ray felt he had changed in that appearance.

(Ryan feels peeled off. I thought so a little bit when I left Periclitle, but now I'm not as arrogant as I was before. I don't feel like I've grown up, but I've lost my elbow more than I used to...)

Ashley thought the same thing.

"I still have something to do. At least I don't know what will happen until I finish building Lord Ione's orb in Tall Eljig. So don't get distracted."

Ryan also nods at the words and gives Luna a bow and an arrow barrel.

"I don't know how to take care of it, so I don't know if I can use it... but I brought it for once"

Luna put her own bow in her hand: "Thank you. This will help a little," he thanked.

She also naturally noticed that Ray's armor had changed. Because Ryan popped up, he couldn't say anything about it, but he had a slightly worried look.

She was watching another figure in that pitch-black armor.

(This coloured armor... reminds me of that guy...)

Luna didn't say anything and was making it look happy to be able to rendezvous safely.

A line increased to twelve reached the main entrance of Talljig.

The tall eljig is covered by a wooden wall about three metres (melt) high, protected by soldiers wearing the crest of the Kingdom of Kaum in front of the gate.

Ray sent Alberic a signal with his eyes. I realize that. Talk to the soldier as Alberic shows the orb.

"We're from the Mercenary Corps of Markat (Red Arms), but we helped people along the way. The village where everything lived was attacked by demons and fled..."

He tells the story Ray made in his usual floating manner.

I heard the demons attacked me, and the soldiers panic,

"Even if it was attacked, it seems to be during the invasion four months ago. He was hiding in a cave, and he finally came out."

An old soldier confirms Alberic's orb.

"You do look like a mercenary belonging to the Mercenary Corps of Markat."

He is convinced that he is part of the famous Red Arms because the Alberics are equipped with a red armor (Van Place) on their arms.

"There are many demons in the woods around here. I don't think a woman can survive alone. Not in the middle of winter."

"There was a cave near the village, and they had emergency food there. Isn't that right, Ione?

Ione nodded "Yes,"

"It was a small settlement of about fifty people... he said he had been attacked by demons before, and he was ready to escape. About twenty people had enough food to survive in January…"

"I've never heard of a pioneering village in the woods further east than here," the soldier suspects in Ione's explanation.

"I don't really want to say it, but my parents are like people who've been running away from a lot of places. So it felt like living in hiding. There have been many people who have fled the west even since I was born. And my husband..."

Ione says so and performs a tearful act.

"Well... I've heard that rumor before. That there is such a village near Toa. Sometimes the guy whose neck stopped spinning because of debt was headed east..."

As the soldiers put it, few but existed fleeing into dangerous pioneering villages. Debt taking just isn't going to go that far either.

"So. It's like this guy's from around here, too. Fortunately, healing magic works, so he wants to be an adventurer and join some party."

"But we can't let the suspicious in..."

A knight came looking like the head of the defense team while we were having such an exchange.

"Is there some kind of trouble?

An old soldier answers the question.

"Ha! I could confirm that there was no problem with the orb except for this woman, who doesn't have an orb. They say it's the survival of a village wiped out by an earlier demonic invasion..."

"You can't let me in without an orb," the knight said, trying to turn back.

"Can't we guarantee the identity of the Mercenary Corps of Markat?

When Ray gives the Red Arms name, the knight looks at Ray's face annoyingly.

"Seventh or eighth grade mercenaries are not guaranteed."

Alberic interrupts the words with, "Well, that means I'm good for second class, right?"

The knight was surprised to hear of the second degree, but remained suspiciously eyed.

"Are you sure it's secondary?

"You'll see when you check the orb. My name is Alberic Auger. For once, he's a lieutenant with a Red Arms regiment."

The knight is surprised by the familiar name "Al the Armored......" but when looked at well, he begins to think that he is an elf and true because he has a long bow on his back.

"It's definitely Lord Alberic Auger."

When one of the soldiers says so, the knight is confused and speechless about being a bigger man than he thought.

"If Mr. Alberic, a second-degree (...), is going to be the guarantor, that means you can go into town, right?"

When Ray confirmed to the silent knight, he nodded, feeling "um" reluctantly.

"I'm sorry, but I hate to get into trouble later, so could you give me a stroke here? In so far as Alberic Auger, a second-degree mercenary, is the guarantor, he admits to staying in the town of Talljig. Of course, I'll pay you back when I leave town."

The knight replied that it was only in the town where his authority was extended and that he had no problem, and immediately made a note in the stuffing.

The Rays bowed their heads to the knights and soldiers and went inside the town.

As soon as he enters town, he goes to the Adventurers Guild and asks for the process of registering Ione.

It was a male employee in his mid-forties who was at the reception and tried to start the process, but is baffled by the absence of an orb in Ione.

"I've never had a case like this before. I was wondering if I could do it on my authority. I wish I had a branch manager, but unfortunately I wasn't there..."

In contrast, Ray showed a note written by the knight,

"Look at this. I asked you to prepare a document saying that the knights of the defense forces in this town have no problem."

The official saw the note but is still troubled.

"Do you doubt the Adventurer Guild even though the Knight has acknowledged it? I can go to the defense team's crawl now and get confirmation, but what will you do?

Officials did sign the knights, but they were hesitant because of the proviso that Alberic was guaranteeing them.

"As long as there is a guarantee from Lord Alberic, that means that if there is no guarantee, it will be the responsibility of the Adventurer Guild. That's the problem…"

"Well, why don't I write a brush when I make her orb? You'll still have proof that Alberic Auger vouched for you. Even if it turns out later that this man was guilty of a crime and it's a liability issue, there's no excuse for a second-degree mercenary to warrant it."

"Can't it be on the same terms as the knight admitted?

Ray uses the authority of the knight to approach officials. I was hoping that the staff would write a single letter, and I agreed to register.

About thirty minutes later, Ione's registration was completed. In the meantime, Alberic had made and handed over a document that he would guarantee. The paperwork even purposefully says "Deputy Marcut Mercenary Corps," and the surprise doesn't really stretch his face when he finds out the officials who saw it are the famous Red Arms number two.

Alberic is smiling niggardly when he sees it.

Ashley beside him said, "You're my brother Al's bad. I want to see this reaction to what I have to explain from the beginning. Absolutely......" he was holding his temples down, whining.

Successfully completed Ione's registration and headed to the inn. It's already past 5pm and the area is starting to dim.

We arrive at the Inn taught at the Adventurers Guild, and after checking in, we head to dinner. Due to the already late hour and the original low number of guests, there were no other guests and they were rented out.

When everyone but the Unos gathered in the dining room, Alberic began to laugh.

"I can't forget the face of that guild clerk. But Red Arms is famous in this country. I've never known you before."

"Brother Al plays too much. What would you have done if you'd stuck around?"

When Ashley said that and accused him, Alberic laughed,

"Of course, Ray, I was gonna throw a round at you. That sounds interesting."

Everyone but him shook his head sideways at the words.

After that, we'll be talking about plans for tomorrow and beyond.

"I'm going to start moving in full tomorrow, but if I have any caveats, I want to share them with everyone by now. Especially since I know very little about this neighborhood."

When Ray says so, Ashley first explains a rough outline of his future plans.

"Give me an overview of my upcoming plans. Ahead, but first we go for the barbecue, where we get information about the streets. So to decide whether to go south or north. If there is no particular problem, head south as planned. through Ars, enter the Empire, and go for Ezarrington"

"Why go for Ezarrington?" Ryan asks the question.

"Ezarrington is a major traffic shock in the southern part of the empire. Naturally, a variety of information comes in. There must have been a harbor too, so with any luck there might be a ship heading directly to Jilsol"

"Right. There must have been a harbour in Ezarrington with ships out all over the empire. There must have been spices and glass products in the gill sole, so there's a chance we could get on the boat."

That's what Luna says and supplements.

"From Ezarrington it will be either going directly by boat or going for Imperial Primes. There must have been a ship out of Teito..."

Luna groaned, "It's the Empire..." and Ray heard it say, "Is there something?" I heard.

"Empire just has a few memories"

"Memories?"

Ray heard without thinking in particular, but Luna did not speak clearly, "It's a little memory".

Ashley noticed that Luna was trying to keep her from talking,

"I haven't decided whether to go to the Imperial Capital. We could use Langton Street to get to the south."

Luna responded courteously to Ashley's care and said nothing more.

"Can I just say that I'm going to look into information about Jilsol in big cities like Ars and Ezarrington?

When Ray hears that, Ashley nods loudly.

"I have very little information about Jilsol either. So is Brother Al."

"Yeah. Exactly. I've never been there either. First of all, the Mercenaries have fought many times against the Imperial Army. Sometimes it's a little hard to get to the south of the empire."

The Mercenary Corps of Markat crosses the Imperial Army with Gango (Kanka) as part of the Royal Lax Army. It is possible that the Imperial side also knows the name of the Markat Mercenary Regiment, but it is a common story that a Mercenary Regiment belonging to a Mercenary Guild turns to the enemy, which is usually not an issue.

However, only the Mercenary Corps of Markat has slightly different circumstances.

Their alias, "Red Arms," is the result of a dead fight against the Imperial Army, and the Royal Lax Government is also actively using it for propaganda.

Nowadays there is a truce between the Empire and Lax, so I don't have to worry about it that much, but I was hesitant to go to the Empire in grandeur, even with the young, deserted Alberic.

At the end of the discussion, Luna said, "It's been a long time since I've slept in bed" and headed to the room. Ryan was staring at herself afterwards, chewing up the joy that she was finally back.
