Trinitas Mundus

Episode 78: To the Battlefield

Around noon on September 1st.

Thirty thousand Imperial Army and two hundred thousand Luke's Holy King Army were confronting each other in Lark Hill, the western stronghold of the Caerm Empire.

Six hours to go back.

The Imperial Army received a report of an attack by the Holy King's Army around 6 a.m. It was delivered by a reconnaissance team that drove the horses through the night.

The Holy kingdom put in an unprecedented number of beastly slaves: more than a thousand, for a thorough scourge hunt. The operation succeeded perfectly until just before it arrived on the battlefield and continued to conceal the presence of a large army of 200,000 until it camped in a hilly area just fifteen km (Kimmel) west of Lark Hill.

Unknown on September 1st. Ten Imperial Army scouts, who found the lights of the Holy King's Army camp, ran their horses with all their might in the dark to convey that information.

One companion after another is defeated by the attacking Beastman slaves, who continue to flee even as they get lost in the dark.

I was able to miraculously rendezvous with the Sentinel of the Lark Hill Regiment, who was on guard around the city around 5 a.m. shortly before nightfall.

At that time, only two were able to survive. If those two had been a few more minutes late, they would have lost their lives.

About a hundred meters behind them were several beastly slaves, one step ahead of their reach.

The scouts were exhausted, but when they borrowed a horse from the sentry, they headed to Lark Hill without rest.

And at 6 a.m., he succeeded in communicating the information of the Holy King's Army directly to the Commander-in-Chief, Prince Leopold.

"Luke's Holy King's Army was camping in the fifteen Kimmel West! It's big enough to fill the plains!

"Thank you for your hard work. Well done. You brought the information back. You guys get some rest."

When the informed Prince Leopold takes the scout's hand and hangs his words of labor, he speaks to Count Adolphe Rednapp, his deputy commander.

"He finally showed up, Adolph. Fortunately, the Humans haven't even shown up yet. Bring them to the showdown before they arrive and add a piece at once. I'm counting on your work."

Saying that and pounding Uncle Rednapp on the shoulder, he told his deputy, "Prepare for all army deployments! ordered."

The Imperial Army does not even have breakfast and rushes to get ready.

When he is ready in about an hour, the prince stands before all the armies and inspires the soldiers.

"Here come the fools of Lukes who deceive the name of God. We still don't know the total number of enemies, but 200,000 won't go down..."

I hear two hundred thousand, and an upset runs at the soldiers who were hearing the prince's voice. And the upset also passed on to the soldiers behind it.

Rumors were circulating among the soldiers, but they bracketed the height that it was what they always said to the big guy. But coming out of the commander-in-chief's mouth, he recognized that the rumors were true and felt terrified.

"There's nothing to fear! The enemy is nothing but a poor peasant militia as usual! No matter how many they are, they are not enemies of our imperial soldiers!

"That's right!" The voice goes up.

"Infantry consolidate their defenses and receive enemy assaults! The cavalry has stopped moving. Stab the miscellaneous! Fill the meadows of Lark Hill with enemy corpses!

In that word, the soldiers said, "Ooh!!" "The cheer rises and spreads to all armies.

When the prince commands him to ring a drum there, he pulls out a stunning sword and raises it high.

And he said, "All troops out!," he waved down the sword.

Around 10 a.m., the Imperial Army began forming formations on the meadows that would serve as battlefields.

A horse fence will be installed to receive enemy cavalry assaults. The installation did not take long, as preparations for the materials had been made in advance.

Around 11 a.m., the Holy King's Army began to show itself from the west.

The Holy King's Army stops at about Nikimel's position from Lark Hill and builds a lateral formation. Its width reaches even three kimmels, and it fills all the meadows.

Imperial soldiers also breathe into the sight.

Nothing has ever seen such a great army, and even the belligerent Prince Leopold or Uncle Rednap's expression hardens.

However, although we are going to build a horizontal formation, we do not know our placement, some troops are going right and left, and in the long run it was clear that the chain of command was not working.

"Look closely! You can't even form a decent formation with just a lot of them!

"The enemy can't hang at once! Think only of defeating the enemy in front of you!

The soldiers' agitation subsided in the voice of the commanders and the bluntness of the enemy's movements.

Around noon, the formation of the Holy King's Army was finally consolidated.

There was a pressing air of battle starting now on both sides of the Imperial Army and the Holy King's Army.

Around 11am.

Rays, the army of the people of the meadow was ten kimmels east of Lark Hill.

Continuously the scouts are bringing home the report, and Ray listens on the horse, without stopping the horse.

The update was about an hour ago that the Imperial Army began to put the city of Lark Hill behind its back.

Further along the horse, about thirty minutes later, reports enter that the Holy King's Army has begun to deploy lateral formations west of its Nikimel.

At that time, the Rays were about five kimmels to Lark Hill.

Proceed at this pace and it will take at least thirty minutes. Ray regretted in his heart that he had mistimed.

(It was a vendetta that I waited far away so I could not rub with the Imperial Army. If we don't hurry, the war will start......)

Ray is wondering whether to go from fast walk (trot) to canter while checking the condition of his beloved horse. But horse fatigue here interferes with action on the battlefield.

With that in mind, Hamish approached me.

"There's no rush. I can still make it enough. Mind if your hurry infects everyone more than that."

"Is my impatience contagious?

"That's right. The Commander's emotions are conveyed to the soldiers. I fear the same if I feel afraid, and if I am in a hurry, my men start hurrying. Make room for more and more. Even if you're in a hurry."

I was taught what the commander knew, but Ray didn't think he could do it.

"It's hard. It really gets on my face."

"Then run your horse while you talk to Ash or Stella. You two would be able to talk normally. Show everyone what it looks like."

Call Ashley and Stella without waiting for Ray to reply.

"Ray is full. Give him a chat."

That's all I said and went away.

The leftover Rays face to face as they run their horses.

"Even if they say it's a chat in this situation... what's your father thinking?

Stella answers Ashley's question.

"I think you want to say that normal mind matters. That's what I was taught inside."

"Normal mind... I can't have a normal mind when hundreds of thousands of people are trying to get to a place to start the fight. Especially since I'm in charge."

Ashley showed understanding in Ray's words.

"Right. I'm in an exhilarating mood just to be with all these great armies, too. You're not supposed to be able to stay calm."

"After this, how do we get in between?" Stella suddenly changed the subject.

Ray was wondering if he could make it and was completely oblivious to that.

"Right. I need to think about it..."

Running his horse, he organizes in his head the information the decree brought home.

(The Imperial Army is forming west of Lark Hill on its back. The Holy King's Army is about to attack two Kimmels away from the Imperial Army... its current position puts it on the battlefield from either North or South... There was a small hill north of Lark Hill on the map. Maybe we should circle in from the south so it won't be a fight by mistake because there's an Imperial Army cavalry on that hill......)

Organize your thoughts, call Leeva,

"We enter the battlefield from south of Lark Hill. Me and the Sorels at the head. When we get into position visible from both armies, we'll signal for a halt, so don't overlook it."

"Yes, I will thoroughly stop the whole army with the king's signal."

That's all I'm saying, I'm going to give my men instructions.

In the meantime, he continued to run, and Alberic Auger of the Mercenary Corps of Markat (Red Arms) was desperate to laugh at its insanity.

"Isn't that amazing? I can use the transmission at this speed. If it was Lax's Knights of the Springs, we wouldn't be able to give orders at this half-speed."

Speaking to Hamish like that, he was equally frightened.

"I'm going crazy too. I've never had such an insane battle."

Saying so, he was also giving instructions to each squad while running at about ten kimmels an hour.

"The best squad is Ray's direct cover with me! Second squad to the right! Squad three to the left! Squad five, guard the rear! Elias! I'll leave the avant-garde to your Fourth Squad!

Elias Nifer, captain of the Fourth Squad, can't hide his joy by being ahead of the line.

"Roger! I'll take care of it! I'll show them what we can do!

Hamish panics about the word.

"Don't go into the dark clouds! Ray's going in to stop the fight! Don't forget that!

"I know!," Elias answers cheerfully with a cavalry spear.

"You think I know?" and Alberic was frightened, but he laughed, "If I had to, I'd go in and stop you."

When the Red Arms mercenaries cemented the perimeter of Ray, they could see the spires on the walls of Lark Hill.

"Almost there! Pay attention to my signal!" Ray exclaims.

Another five minutes or so later, the walls of Lark Hill appeared completely.

And there was an Imperial Army infantry and many army flags lined up with spears on its western side.

When he sees Luke's Holy King's Army, Ray inadvertently utters words of relief: "I made it..."

The Holy King's Army was not yet in motion, and there was a sufficient distance between the two armies.

"How far are we going!" asks Hamish to scold.

"We will proceed between the two armies!

When Ray shouted so, he proceeded to the horse directly behind Squad Four,

"I'll take the lead!," said Elias, further accelerating the horse lover traveler.

In Luke's Holy King's Army, he was on the verge of panicking at the massive cavalry that suddenly appeared.

The General Commander, the Holy King Augustino, asked the Holy Knights, who consolidate their surroundings, "What do you mean!" He intensified his discourse and asked for an explanation of the situation.

But the Saints also don't know what's going on and can only go right and left.

In the meantime, only one squadron leader kept calm.

His name is Langes Fortunato.

He was a holy knight who fought the Periclitle offensive with Ray and, upon his return to the Holy King's kingdom, was promoted from platoon captain with merit in the battle against the Demons.

This time they buy combat experience and pack it in command as the commander of the Holy King's immediate unit.

(You look like a human horse tribe. This confirms our loss. No, you didn't win from the start. Now, I need to figure out how to protect Your Majesty...)

Unlike the regular Saint Knight, he was not born in the House of the Saint Knight, but a knock-up from the Secular Knight. For this reason, he knew with the strength of the Imperial Army and was convinced that no matter how much force he put into battle, no victory would be achieved in the Holy King's Army of peasant militia subjects.

A human horse tribe emerged in such a place with more strength than an Imperial cavalry. He turns his back on the battlefield in an attempt to head under the Holy King in order to advance that he should withdraw even immediately.

"Who was that!" I turned my gaze back to the Humane Horse Clan without thinking about it.

It was still nearly a chimel away and found a group of silhouettes that looked only as good as bean grains, but clearly different from the Humane Horse tribe.

For a moment I thought it might not be the knight of the empire, but as I approach it, I realize that my gear is a city.

Including him, the command of the Holy King's Army nailed the suddenly appearing group and had not issued any orders.

While the Holy King's Army was in turmoil, a loud flame spread flat in the middle of the battlefield was seen, and the roar of Dawn echoed shortly thereafter.

(That's not the magic of Master Arklight...... no, it can't be that. That one should have followed the Demons east and been returned to Lax after the chase......)

Fortunato remembered the magic of fireworks he had seen several times in the Periclittle offensive.

But we also knew that Ray had headed with the Demonic Pursuit Team to Fort Toa in the Kingdom of Kaum, and we also heard rumors that that Pursuit Team had been disbanded.

With the magic of the fireworks, the Humane Horse Warriors stopped marching. I realize there are light warriors who look like nomads, not just the Humans.

And from among them a group of dozens of horsemen proceeded towards the side of the Holy King's Army.

At the beginning there was a knight who crossed a silver horse and wore himself in pure white gear. Fortunato doesn't think about that figure, "Dear Arklight," he mutters.

"You know him?" My colleague's squadron leader spoke up, but he didn't hear me.

(Why are you here? Was it descended for us as the "manifestation of the God of Light (Lucidus)”, as the priest put it? That can't be right. That one was such a tactician, yet he hated the fight wholeheartedly. I wonder what your thoughts would be on that spot......)

Fortunato began walking towards the front row of the formation to see Ray on his chest with doubts.
