Lesson 79: Intervention

After noon on September 1st.

Thirty thousand Caerm Imperial Army, two hundred thousand Luke's Holy King's Army, and seventy thousand grassland people, a total of three hundred thousand soldiers, including the Humane Horse (Centaur) tribe, are gathered in the grassland west of Lark Hill and in a kind of adhesive state.

Luke's Holy King's Army had intended to ravage the Imperial Army with a great army, but he cannot hide his surprise at the emergence of the people of the meadow, a powerful soldier.

The commander-in-chief, the Holy King Augustino, can only rush and yell, unable to strike a valid hand.

The Holy Knights assigned to the Command also suddenly appeared against the strongest cavalry, unable to find the hand to strike, to speak to the Holy King or to give instructions to his men.

While the Imperial Army, on the other hand, commander-in-chief Prince Leopold and some other heads of state had anticipated the emergence of the Humans and Horses, soldiers on the front lines below the Commander of the Regiment had no information about it and are surprised at what happened.

But the people of the meadows are allies belonging to the same empire and have shown no greater upset than the Holy King's Army.

Still, because the people of the meadows are in between, they cannot move.

The people of the meadows have entered between the two armies as Ray commanded them, and they have made the two armies look upon them as Ray commanded them.

And lined up neatly by family so that they can move at any time by order of the king. Their expression was filled with exhilaration that they were following the long-awaited “White King”.

In the meantime, Ray advances his horse toward Luke's Holy King's Army.

He was surrounded by hundreds of markat mercenary regiments (Red Arms) fierce men and hundreds of elite Sorel riders.

When he stops the horse about a hundred meters (melt) in front of the Holy King's Army, he follows Ashley and Stella only and leaves further forward.

And when he stops again at about fifty melts, he shouts up against the Holy King's Army.

"I'm Ray Arklight! He is the one who leads the army of the people of the meadows on the brink!

A whirlwind arises from the Holy King's Army in his words. Because I thought the Imperial Army had sent the people of the meadows as reinforcements.

Among those in places where they could see themselves, they were wondering, "Is that man not a holy knight?" Because Ray's gear looked a lot like Saint Knight's.

No one answers that question, and Ray's words continue.

"I ask the Commander of the Holy King's Army! This battle is barren! There's nothing to gain from just ruthlessly damaging human lives! Return to your country immediately! If you will come back, we will stop the Imperial Army from pursuing you!

Strangely enough, Ray's words were heard by all of the Holy King's Army, which extended to three km (Kimmel). It is actually coming directly into my mind, not from my ear, but no one noticed that.

This was Luna and Ione praying, and the spirits of darkness were responding to it and delivering Ray's voice.

As his words penetrate, agitation runs again to the Holy King's Army.

"We are overwhelmingly more numerous. Why do you have to pull it off!

Holy kings and saint knights with little experience of war expose their anger.

Though the soldier at the end of the line could see the Humans appearing and urging them to retreat, it was just before the assault order was issued, unable to decide whether to open the end of the battle or retreat as recommended, and he looked around restlessly.

The commanders on the front line didn't see the situation as well as they did, and many appeased to Ray's voice. The commanders, who command a thousand troops in particular, were calm and sent out a missionary decree asking for the judgment of the Holy King, the Commander-in-Chief, on how to move.

But that sober behavior was not rewarded.

Because there was not enough flexibility to deal with the Holy Knights consolidating their command, including the Holy King, the Commander, in such special circumstances.

In the meantime, two figures advance before the Holy King.

One is an executive bishop of Maggioni Gastaldi, a priest wearing lavish sacrificial garments.

He was a person who cooperated with the Saints in Ray during the Periclitle offensive, and with that merit had been promoted from bishop to executive bishop with his own discretion.

In this battle, he volunteers himself and is given a seat in the General Command with advisor (advisor) treatment.

And the other was Langess Fortunato, with a helmet with a squadron captain's feather decoration. He was the one who commanded the Holy Knights as Ray's men for a time.

"I say to Your Majesty," Gastaldi bows his head respectfully.

"What?" the Holy King asks,

"That is the“ manifestation of the God of Light (Lucidus). "With God's guidance, we have gained knowledge with him, so we ask you to give strength to our country."

"That one... No, that's more Lucidus' manifestation..."

When the Holy King groans so, he stares again at Ray. He was solidifying himself into shiny pure white gear and even began to think it was not strange to be told that Lucidus had descended.

And it reminds me of Lucidus' words that appeared in my dreams.

"... my presence will lead the Divine Army and help the righteous..."

By remembering that word, the Holy King regains his leeway as if the confusion had ever been a lie.

"It's certainly a situation as the commissioned street. I guess the earlier words mean something...... then I'll leave it to you. Check his sincerity."

Gastaldi says, "I'll take care of it" and takes Fortunato and falls down from under the Holy King.

I didn't think Fortunato walking behind would be in the kind of situation Gastaldi was saying.

(That can't be helping our country. Especially since the name of this war used that person's name. Using their own names, many die. That can't be acceptable......)

Though I thought about it that way, I also thought talking to a highly conjectured Gastaldi wouldn't have ears to listen to.

(It would be useless to say anything to the executive bishop. Then it is better to use this opportunity to make sure that person's sincerity is confirmed and to move according to his intentions. Merely an inquiry, but that one is loved by God. There must be some deep reason for this...)

Gastaldi walks away to take only Fortunato to the front line. His men, bishops and priests, begin to panic to escort him.

"There is no need for escorts or anything like that to be seen by the use of God. I'm just gonna make that guy's heart go bad."

Fortunato argued in the same way that escorts were unnecessary.

"You are right about the executive bishop! That one is a noble one, just like the Knight's Appraisal! There can be no harm done to us when we talk!

He got on with Gastaldi's words, concerned that more people would be wasted and that the story would be more confusing.

Gastaldi and Fortunato walk towards the Rays.

Ray felt destined to look that familiar.

(Regardless of Bishop Gastaldi, Mr. Fortunato would listen to me. Is this what Mr. Zach has prepared for me, too?

Ray assumed he was a bishop as well as before because he did not know that Gastaldi had been promoted to executive bishop.

Get off the horse to welcome the two of you.

"Long time no see, Master Arklight. This is Maggioni Gastaldi, who fought with us in Pericritle."

That's what I say. I give you my right hand with a fancy ring on it.

"We're out of time," said Ray, taking that hand, bowing his head small.

Soon Fortunato came forward and poked one knee,

"I am Langess Fortunato. I thank God for his mercy on this occasion again."

That being said, I kept a close eye on Ray.

After receiving the two greetings, Ray confirms, "Would you have heard me earlier?"

"Of course I heard you. But we can't even weigh your thoughts. My army overwhelmingly told me to pull it off. What is its intent?"

Ray turns his attention to Gastaldi, while turning his awareness to Fortunato.

"What is the big name for this war? You must have seen it, too. that many people have lost their lives in Periclitle, and that many in the village of Fiscal have also died. And many of those who survived were injured and some lost their limbs. Why try to start a war that creates such misfortune"

"It is to obey God's Word and to make the ideal world on earth," he tells against his chest.

"The gods don't want that! Don't lightly say God's Word, etc!

Gastaldi is bewildered by Ray's sudden anger, but mistakenly assumed it was because he seemed to have treated God lightly as a manifestation.

"I apologize for what I said lightly about the Word of God in front of you, Lucidus' appearance. But didn't you come here to lead us to victory? Then I don't understand the meaning of the words."

So I take my gaze off Gastaldi and point it at Fortunato.

"You would have known how dangerous this war was. that the Holy King's Army will be defeated even if the people of the meadows do not come"

Although Fortunato was not sure how to answer, he decides to be prepared to speak honestly to his own heart here.

"Lord Arklight is right. The Imperial Army is strong and cannot be overpowered by peasant militias. You would have defeated the God of Light (Lucidus) in less than a day."

Gastaldi was stunned by the words, "What are you talking about!" and tried to get in between. But Ray ignores his words and speaks to Fortunato.

"So what do you have to do?" Ask.

stare firmly into Fortunato's eyes, which are cramped with answers,

"Isn't this about using this machine to get people home safely?

With that word Fortunato made himself ready. Be prepared to follow Ray's path of faith.

"It's my pleasure. Protect the innocent people. This is what Your Excellency wants, and this is what I want. I will try to persuade His Majesty the Holiness, even if I change my life."

That's what I said and bowed my head with a clear look.

Gastaldi, beside him, exposes his anger.

"What are you talking about! With Master Arklight's power on his side, he can easily crush the Imperial Army and others. Even I, the amateur, know that much!

"The people of the meadows will not side with the Holy Kingdom, even if they side with the Empire. At least I don't give orders like that."

Ray said so with perseverance,

"There's nothing more to talk about. Be ready to go home soon."

That's all I said, I rode my horse away.

Gastaldi, left behind, turns his anger on Fortunato.

"I pretended to win because of you! Get in the way of me convincing him!

"Dear Executive Bishop, that man hates the battle with all his heart"

"Say what! Wouldn't I be showing you so much arm in Periclitle! There's no way anyone who hates the battle can command that much!

"That's not true. That one is the one who risks his life to protect the weak. It is precisely the manifestation of Lucidus, the one who gives light to all equally. You must have seen it, too. Tears from that one when he mourned the peasant militia in Fiskal village. Give me the serious look I showed you when I entrusted the soldier who lost his leg..."

Even his sincere words will not subside Gastaldi's wrath. So Fortunato decided to change his words.

"He has far more power than ever before."

"What's wrong with that?"

Gastaldi is perplexed by the sudden change of subject, although he says so with a blatant attitude.

"I don't know how many people there are in the meadows, but it's clear that he's more dissatisfied with our country's leaders..."

So once I cut the words, I peek at Gastaldi. Gastaldi stares at Fortunato but his anger disappears from his expression.

"... not necessarily without pointing that power at our country. For that one's ideal..."

In that language Gastaldi understood what Fortunato wanted to say. And I'm going to regain my calm.

(Surely this person is right. That one is young. They don't understand that ideals and realities are different. I don't know if it's temporary, but even the Empire had the power to fear...)

So I remember what happened in Periclitle.

(... it looked like he hated Captain Paredes wholeheartedly then. So I didn't hate crushing every Saint Knights. If you think about crushing the upper ecclesiastical hierarchy just as you did then... Your Holiness, no, even under the Archbishop, stopping that one is not only a matter of life at stake. Then we must act in accordance with that person's wishes and protect ourselves…)

The fast switching gastardi put self-preservation first.

"Sir Fortunato, I woke up at your word. I will now advise His Majesty to draw his troops."

"Thank you. I will be sure to tell Master Arklight about this. You will always be thankful for the good deeds of the executive bishop"

Gastaldi nods loudly at the words.

(That one liked Fortunato. I guess we should use this person well here......)

That's what I thought. Gastaldi grins at Fortunato.

"I intend to advise His Majesty that your lord should report directly to His Excellency Archlight. That one doesn't know what's going on in our country. Your Lordship must tell His Excellency what is right and unravel any misunderstandings about the Order."

"Ha!" he responds, but in his heart he was aware of Gastaldi's thoughts.

(I suppose you mean to tell Master Arklight well about yourself. That is definitely the manifestation of Lucidus. I can be archbishop as soon as I incorporate it well. And beyond...)

Still, I thought we should use Gastaldi now, and I didn't utter any useless words.

Returning to the formation of the Holy King's Army, Gastaldi began persuading the Holy King. But the Holy King could not understand Gastaldi's thoughts, and the Holy Knights were also wary of Gastaldi, who was in a state of arbitrary devotion, and the leadership of the Holy Royal Army continued its debate with Dallah without giving clear instructions to the soldiers on the front lines.
