Trinitas Mundus

Episode 100: The Wilderness Threat

Around 4pm on March 15th.

We arrived about thirty km (Kimmel) west of the base village of Mauki. Given that other than the people of the meadows and the demonic tribe are on foot, and that it is a dangerous land called "Desperationis", it can be said that it has progressed better than expected.

The Rays who hold the frog horse are on foot because they decided they couldn't handle it when they were ambushed. Theophilus, who trained in the Centaur tribe, and even the fourth regiment of the Mercenary Corps of Mercenaries (Red Arms), which specializes in horseback combat, have descended from their horses.

Saying it was going well didn't mean there was nothing wrong with it. It is a wilderness without paths and uses strength even if the scaffolding just walks poorly.

In addition to that, I have been attacked many times by demons.

The demons that attacked me had many undead systems, such as ghosts. An opponent that cannot be defeated unless it is a weapon or magic made by Mithril, but with fifty demonic spellmen, it is magically annihilated before it deals damage.

Others have been attacked by demons equivalent to Class II to Class III, such as "Cannibal Rock (Boulder)", a clear Kamakiri demon, and "Crystal Roach (Crystal Mantis)" simulated on the rock.

Even that powerful demonic raid had required only a few minor injuries, thanks to the vigilance network of the Unos Beast Squad and the precise instructions of the commanders of each squad.

Hamish Markat of War talks about the excellence of the Unos.

"I can see the gratitude of excellent scouts. If it weren't for them, there wouldn't be ten dead. And it's more dangerous than I imagined. Not so bad in the depths of the Saeum Mountains..."

The Saeum Mountains are a mountain range on the border between the Kingdom of Lax and the Caerm Empire, a place famous for its abundance of demons. The Mercenary Corps of Markat (Red Arms) has also received several requests for monster draws.

Uno's report said there was no suitable place for camping ahead, so Ray decided to camp here after consulting with the Hamish.

"We'll camp here today. Night vigilance is the main thing for the Beast Troops, but keep them in three squads so they can react immediately to the raids. The demons here strike in an unexpected way. Try to balance ghosts, demons, horses, beasts, and people wherever possible. Prepare your meal, set up a tent, take care of your horse, and be vigilant around you as per your prior meeting…"

Plans have been in place since before departure, and the Crusaders begin their action without hesitation on Ray's instructions.

Ray will gather key members and confirm plans for tomorrow and beyond.

"Tomorrow we will continue west as planned. So far so good, but the further we go, the more dangerous traps await us. So please act more carefully than today…"

Everyone nods loudly.

"Tomorrow the Beast and Demon Troops will also ask for confirmation of the path with half as a scourge. But don't get ahead too far. Because I don't know when a mental attack will come that acts only on the Beast Man, and it's not always safe on the sky."

Uno replies "I understand" and Elise and Varma say "I understand" at the same time.

Ray nodded at it and turned his gaze to Gius Salinas and Tarvo of the Humane Horse Clan.

"Mr. Gius' troops are in the center in the form of a human horse protecting the horse, and Lord Talvo's ghost tribe unit asks for an avant-garde. Let the scouts of the Little Ghost precede you by about 100 meters."

When the two accept, they also give instructions to Hamish.

"Tomorrow the Red Arms will ask for your lord. Mr. Hamish will be in charge of the rear guard."

"Copy that," Hamish replied,

"You're in charge of the whole thing in front of you," he confirms.

"Yes, perhaps a previously struggling demon called the Invisible Killer (Murder) will strike."

The Invisible Killer is a demon with a body like liquid metal, a dangerous being that reaches out and attacks spear-like tentacles from the ground.

Even the highly detectable Unos are difficult to discover, and the only more effective means of attack is the magic of Ray's "Lightning Bolt".

For this reason, Ray considered it necessary to be in a position where he could easily react.

Finish a brief meeting and dissolve.

"Aren't you tired," Ashley says to Ray.

"You're just tired of commanding so many troops. But it's okay, because people better than me are in charge of the squad."

"Right. But don't push it. You and Luna are the key to the fight with Vanitas."

That's all I said, Ashley headed to pick up the meal.

Easy meals, but warm dishes were prepared. Thinking about the season of mid-March, Luna suggested that we stay fit.

"Warm meals are effective in restoring health. In the village I was in, I tried to eat the warmest meals possible, even in the woods."

Theophilus also synchronizes with the word.

"It's the word of my brother Zacharias, who says that warm dishes and sweet things are effective when the cold is harsh. In fact, there is a cooking area in the village of Rasmore for reconnaissance, and we always made sure to prepare sweet things such as pickled honey"

For this reason, fuel was also available along with food. Fuel is firewood and coal, and the magicians who can use earthly attribute magic make simple sauces, where they make the soup of Kushan.

"If it's the Lockhart family, it's not alcohol," Red Arms deputy Alberic Auger mixes it up.

"We're tough when it comes to alcohol. Because Dwarf was the only one who could have drunk during the battle."

Theo answers seriously, but Alberic is surprised by the word because he meant to be a joke.

"Dwarves are fighting over alcohol!

"Yeah, when we were fighting the undead, we were laying down a barrel of Scotch and fighting over a jock. I was just a kid, but I thought you were fighting for fun."

The face-to-face look of the crusaders who were stuck in those words was dull.

There were no demonic raids that night, and the dawn was safely celebrated.

After breakfast, he started the march again.

But I am immediately reminded of the reason why it was named "despair”.

Uno's command of the Beast Troop was about a kimmel ahead as it spread fan-shaped, and further above it, a wing demon unit led by Asla Volti was checking for alerts and obstructions on the needle.

The first thing that went wrong was a winged demon spell man who was in the air.

He crashes suddenly scratching his throat. Asura is blinded by the figure for a moment, but immediately gives instructions to descend near the ground.

"Fall down as you guard your surroundings! It's possible there's an invisible enemy lurking!

Asura's instructions are communicated through her men, but due to the wide spread, there is a limit to transmission in flesh and voice, and those who did not pay attention to her actions scratch their throats and crash in the same way.

"What's going on......" Asla mutters, but immediately flies under her men.

Ray also saw the Winged Demons crash. But I don't know why.

"Stop them all! Strange over the sky! Stand by on the spot while you alert your surroundings!

All units stopped at his command, set up weapons and began to be on alert.

"Let me lower my scourge," commands Uno, who refrains beside him, “the Moon Witch.” I call Elise Nortier.

Ellis also saw how his men crashed and immediately stepped down under Ray.

"Do you know what's going on?," Ray asked,

"No. This kind of thing doesn't even appear in the inheritance."

The Temple of Darkness had a legacy from two thousand years ago, when he was lost in the Desperate Wilderness (Desperationis). Among them are stories of Rays being attacked by "Invisible Killers (Murders)", toxic gases, and demons launching mental attacks. But I didn't remember a story about a sudden crash.

Asura came back in about five minutes.

"There are five people damaged. Everyone seems to be dying instantly or close to it."

Ray told the report, "I'm sorry. It's my alarm......" I apologize, but I immediately regained my mind and said, "Don't you know what caused it?" I hear.

"It didn't feel like I was hit by poison, but it was a bitter look. Perhaps suffocation."

"Is it asphyxiation?

"With that bitter look, I didn't hear any kind of screaming. I was wondering if I could scream even if it was poison."

When I tried to ask more questions, Uno came back.

"I will report it," he says, bowing his head. When Ray says "please" and nods, he immediately starts reporting.

"There are no signs of demons around. There was just one thing that bothered me."

"Is that a concern?

"The sky in the place where the Winged Demon Spellman fell was subtly different from the others. The clouds seemed slightly distorted. It just stopped being the same for a moment."

"Distorted... I don't know what that means..."

"Refractive index… I wonder if it was even a thin layer of air density" murmurs Luna, who was listening beside him.

"Air density? What does that mean?," Ray asked,

"Do you know that wind attributes can magically create a vacuum?"

"Sure, there's nothing wind attributes can't do because they manipulate gases,"

"My sister-in-law could have made a vacuum arrow. Besides, Mr. Zach's soundproofing magic props should have also utilized a vacuum. Maybe he left a layer close to a vacuum in the sky, and whoever went through it choked."

"But if it's a vacuum, I guess the air blows in and disappears quickly. And Uno says there are no demons..."

Luna talks to block the word.

"I wouldn't feel any sign of a trap using magic props or magic formations. Besides, we should now explore the causes and think about countermeasures rather than arguing. If it's a trap like what I think it is, it's still valid on the ground."

"Right," Ray nods, giving instructions to Uno and Varma.

"It's dangerous, but will you explore the vicinity of the crash site with Mr. Uno and Lord Varma? Mr. Uno is good at exploring the signs, and Lord Varma has knowledge of magic."

Uno goes to the scene "with your permission" and Varma answers "I accept" to the order.

"Everyone, listen on the spot! There's probably some kind of trap! That's not all, it could be a trap to stop us! Pay attention not only to your surroundings, but also to the ground and the sky!

Everyone on that order said, "Ooh!," he answers, and begins his vigilance.

Ray's predictions were met.

An Invisible Killer (Murder) struck the squad that stopped him.

The first victim was a medium ghost warrior who was forward.

While guarding his surroundings, he held a sword, but his heart pierced by a silver spear that suddenly emerged from the ground.

The Middle-Ghost Warrior's Terminator echoed into the wilderness.

Originally low detectability, but still an elite chosen crusader, he was not alarmed. Still lost his life in an instant.

The ghost warriors of the war become confused by the sight.

Realizing that, Ray immediately screamed for orders.

"Everybody, on the rocks! The people of the meadows retreat 100 meters! Demon tribe units wait for instructions without going up too high!

While giving orders, Ray checks to see if everyone is moving as directed.

The ghost tribe that had initially lost me was also immediately climbing on the rock by order of Ray and under the command of Talvo Kronvar.

The people of the meadows and the demonic tribes have each received orders by name, so they are immediately starting to act.

Hamish and the rest of the Red Arms and Beast Troops were all veterans, so they knew how dangerous it was to patrol the battlefield and were following orders in a conditional reflexive manner.

Theo and the others moved instantly, saying to Luna, who had little experience in action, "Come on up!" I could afford to put in a follow up.

Ray was relieved to see how it went, but immediately issued the next order.

"It's hard to see, but you should see some part of his body somewhere! If you find a rocking ground, there he is! Look carefully! If I find him, I'll take him down with my magic!

Immediately an invisible killer was found. While Eunice Jakes holds the bow,

"In front of Mr. Ray's right, I'm in a ten melt place!," he said, releasing an arrow.

The arrows hit the ground, but there was no stabbing sound in the soil, and they were sucked into the ground.

"I found it! As I told you before, his body is in the ground! If you shoot in the magic, the ground will collapse, so be ready to flee immediately! Okay, then!

Immediately after I say that, I cast a thunder spell.

"God of light (Lucidus), who commands all the light of the world. Gather the holy power of your family, the Spirit of Light, and give me the Spear of the Thunder Emperor, the Thunder. I will not give my life to you at that price..."

The invisible killer has stretched a silver-thinking spear toward Ray. But the spear was cut off by Ashley's sword, yet another attack was also chopped up and disappeared by Stella's double sword.

Ray's magic was completed in the meantime.

When Ray sticks out his left hand, he emits an electric shock to the enemy directly below him.

"Burn down my enemies! Thunderbolt!"

Immediately afterwards, the sound of a current flow called Bassi sounds along with a roar like when the thunder falls.

"Nearby people stay as far away from me as possible!" Ray exclaims.

A silver liquid, like mercury, gushed out of the ground.

The invisible killer, whose movements have gone as crazy as before, spreads out to the ground.

Immediately afterwards, the ground collapses and about five melts in diameter fall.

Fortunately, he was off the spot at Ray's behest, and no one was involved in the collapse.

"Don't be alarmed yet! Lord Talvo! Mr. Hamish! In this state you should be able to chop it up!

Theo and the others were moving before that word.

"Selah comes from the right! Lyle to the left! Robina is following Serra! Eunice is attacking from the front with me!

Early arrow succession instructions, but the breathtaking five strike an impossible killer who moves with a blurb and tremble.

As Theo slashed in, the enemy would fight back, but it had turned into an attack with a wavering tentacle, not a clear blade like it had until then.

"That doesn't really work. I'm gonna step in big!" Seraphine swung the bastard sword wide into it.

"Selah! Too unscrupulous! Robina! Follow me so my tentacles don't go to Serra!

Theo said that, but he stepped in a lot himself.

Two slashes tear the body apart like liquid metal to a large extent. Such a response was like cutting butter with a hot knife, and the two continued to wave their swords on the spot, bewildered.

In about thirty seconds, the invisible killer also stopped moving, shaping to unravel it as a drool.

In the meantime, the Rays were watching the Battle of the Lockhart family as they guarded their surroundings.

Ray grinned bitterly as the invisible killer was defeated,

"Your brother is a battle junkie, Luna."

"It's been a long time," Luna laughed bitterly at the words.
