Chapter 1639: Simple Little Happiness
"A good marriage can give a person rebirth." Janelle Mills placed her hands in her coat pockets, her lips curling into a smile as she turned her gaze to the man beside her, "I really hope this girl can be happy."
"Yeah, the divorce rate is too high nowadays." Trevor remarked, "Mainly because women are becoming more outstanding and independent, not relying on men at all."
"Relationships need to be nurtured, and so does marriage." She cherished it deeply and felt grateful.
Trevor gently wrapped his arm around her shoulder, also looking towards the romantic drone show in the night sky.
A large ring was slowly being slipped onto the girl’s slender finger.
To Trevor, the scene was clichéd and corny, but every second the drone lingered in the night sky was burning money.
Being so extravagant for a girl is also a testament to love.
"Brother, do you want to buy a rose for sister?"
A tender voice reached their ears, and they looked down to see a little boy holding a flower basket standing before them.
With one arm holding a basket and the other hand offering a fresh rose blooming in full, he handed it directly to Trevor, his eyes like black grapes filled with anticipation.
"How much is it?" Trevor released Janelle’s shoulder, reaching for his wallet as he asked.
"Ten yuan each! Just picked from the rose garden this afternoon!"
"I’ll take them all." Trevor said warmly, "Count how many there are in total."
Janelle turned her eyes to him. Actually, buying just one was enough, or even not buying at all would’ve been fine.
But watching the little boy happily counting the roses in the basket, she said nothing.
After all, it was New Year’s Eve; selling out the flowers quickly would allow the child to return home earlier.
"Brother, there are 18 roses in total, you can give me 150 yuan!" The little boy said, squatting down again to wrap all the roses together with a pink card paper, skillfully forming them into a bouquet.
Standing up, he handed the beautiful bouquet of roses to Janelle Mills, "Sister, I hope you both are happy forever!"
"Thank you." Janelle Mills was especially polite, bending slightly to accept the roses from the child solemnly.
To her, it was not just a bouquet of flowers but the most sincere blessing from a stranger.
"Here’s two hundred, keep the change." Trevor handed the money to the little boy and affectionately patted his small head, "Go home quickly."
"Thank you, brother and sister! Happy New Year!"
The little boy’s eyes glowed brightly as he waved and smiled at them, "Live happily ever after, goodbye!" Then he happily ran off.
Watching the child run away, Janelle and Trevor simultaneously returned their gaze to each other, and both gently smiled.
"Thank you for the roses." Janelle Mills tilted her head, gazing at him tenderly.
Trevor’s heart was as sweet as if it were filled with honey. He held her shoulders with both hands, planted a light kiss on her cheek, then wrapped his arm around her shoulder again and started to walk forward with her.
Checking the time on his wrist, Trevor said to her, "It’s just past nine; shall we go watch a movie? We can celebrate the New Year together after it ends."
"Alright!" She hadn’t watched a movie with him since they got together.
So Trevor searched for the nearest cinema on his phone, took her back to the car, booked the movie tickets before starting the engine, "Got the last two tickets, we’re really lucky."
"We haven’t watched a movie together before." Janelle Mills casually remarked, but there was no regret in her tone.
Trevor remembered it, feeling quite sorry, "After the New Year, once the company’s new projects get underway, I’ll definitely have more time to spend with you."
