Chapter 1716: Mia Lane Arrives at Lorelei
A smug smile flickered in Catherine’s eyes, but Julie remained expressionless, worried. The King had already ordered the throne to be passed to Prince Louis, and without some cunning strategy, this situation was irreversible.
Julie was not only ambitious but also impulsive.
"Mother! Mother!!"
The two women turned their heads at the sound, only to see Prince Taylor storming in angrily. He complained directly, "Mother! Today I hit a wall for the fifth time! Eden didn’t let me in, and now he won’t even report it! It’s simply malicious!"
Catherine furrowed her brows and set the teacup down heavily, "Not even willing to report it? What does he mean? Is he only acknowledging the Crown Prince now and not the Second Prince?"
This Crown Prince hasn’t even ascended to the throne yet and is already so arrogant?
If he ascends, where would there be room for her and her son in the royal family?
"I think Eden is up to no good!" Taylor accused, "He doesn’t want Father to see me! I’m also his own son! Why can Louis stay guard?"
"This is simply outrageous!" Catherine slammed the table in anger.
"Your Highness, please don’t be angry yet," Julie advised sternly, "Eden is just a dog, and the King isn’t seeing anyone—it’s the King’s own order."
"That’s just the King’s mood at that moment! What about now?" Catherine retorted, "Who can guarantee the King would refuse if someone reported it?"
Taylor was also very frustrated!
He wasn’t interested in the throne, but he genuinely cared about his father’s health. He heard that his father coughed up blood and that his life was now on a countdown... This made him restless.
These days, Taylor had been really worried sick.
"Come on, if he won’t report it, we’ll force our way in!" Catherine couldn’t suppress her inner rage, and as she spoke, she moved to step outside.
Before Julie could hold her back, a servant came in, "Your Highness, Prince, Captain."
"What’s the matter?" The woman paused, her eyes coldly staring at him.
The servant reported, "Mrs. Kingston has arrived, Mr. Kingston just picked her up from the airport."
So soon?
Out of courtesy, she had to go greet her, so Taylor’s matter of seeing his father had to be pushed back.
Catherine gave her son a cold look, "Stay here obediently! Just focus on your studies! Don’t cause any trouble! And speak up if you see your father!"
Taylor hung his head, feeling more and more aggrieved. Why was his mother angry too?
"Let’s go!" Catherine glanced over at Julie’s face, then stepped out, with Julie following closely behind.
Justin Kingston had just brought Mia Lane into the palace. It was Mia’s first time here, and even though she had seen much of the world, she was still amazed by the mysterious castles here.
All the buildings were historical remnants, built of stone and surrounded by green lawns and dense forests.
With countless rooms, one could imagine the splendor within just from outside the stone walls.
Mia followed Justin into the palace Catherine used to entertain them. She immediately saw on the walls Da Vinci’s masterpiece and was overwhelmed.
"This is an original," Justin said, pointing to another painting not far away, "and that’s Rembrandt’s, also an original."
"Wow..." She stepped closer to admire them, unable to hold back her gasps of admiration.
The palace hall spanned hundreds of square meters, furnished and adorned with relics from the Middle Ages, making it easy to imagine that every room here was like an art gallery.
"A cold front will start tomorrow with a heavy downpour," Justin came up to her, gently holding her shoulder as he whispered, "I feel like heaven is helping us."
"Mm." She turned to him and asked, "Do you know where he’s staying?"
They had hardly exchanged a few words when Catherine arrived with Julie and a retinue, their hurried and chaotic footsteps prompted the couple to turn their heads at the sound.
