Chapter 1759: Jocelyn Can’t Escape Anymore
Jocelyn Morgan had no guard up; she thought he wasn’t angry, so she breathed a sigh of relief.
Out of politeness, she raised her glass. Under Taylor’s gaze, she took a sip of wine and didn’t detect anything unusual. The wine was fragrant and mellow, not too strong.
"Jocelyn, first of all, I want to congratulate you."
Taylor, building up his emotions, also raised his glass. He took a sip, smiled, and said, "Congratulations on becoming the Queen of Lorelei."
Those words made Jocelyn Morgan feel a bit awkward. Why didn’t it sound like a blessing? It seemed more like sarcasm.
"But there’s one thing... I want to remind you in advance." Taylor smiled and told her, "In our Lorelei, it’s legally protected for a man to have four wives."
Polygamy?
This surprised Jocelyn Morgan. While reading about foreign history, she knew some countries were like this; she didn’t expect Lorelei to be the same.
So what was Taylor trying to convey?
Jocelyn Morgan couldn’t hear it as a reminder; instead, it had a hint of schadenfreude.
But she took a sip of wine, her lips lifted slightly, "Doesn’t your father always have just one wife? Feelings can’t be protected by law; it’s about finding the right person."
"You’ve only been together for six months. How do you know this person is the right one?"
Taylor held his wine glass and gently swirled it, looking up at the girl sitting opposite him. He earnestly confessed, "I like you, I’m serious. Can you feel it?"
A drama about two brothers liking the same woman?
Was it playing out right here?
Jocelyn Morgan had written such melodramatic plots in novels. If mishandled, the brothers would turn against each other.
Moreover, the relationship between Ian Shelby and Taylor was already delicate; they were not born of the same mother.
So, Jocelyn patiently said to him, "Thank you for your affection. I’m sorry I can’t give you the response you want."
Taylor knew she would reply this way, took a sip of wine, the smile on his face tinged with sadness.
"I love him, with a pure and passionate love, with no room for divided affections." Jocelyn stated, "So we can only be friends."
Taylor masked his inner disappointment with a smile, "You’ll never know how much I like you. I’ve never liked anyone this much before."
"Prince Taylor, regarding hiding my relationship status, I deeply apologize again for giving you the illusion that I was single."
Jocelyn raised her glass to him, clinking it in the air, "I’m sorry." Then she tilted her head back and drank all the wine in her glass.
This was exactly what Taylor wanted; she drank it, she drank it all.
He originally thought the girl would refuse to drink; he even picked the mildest one that even a three-year-old could drink and prepared a bunch of lines to persuade her.
Jocelyn Morgan put down the empty glass, "Did you invite me over for anything else today?"
Taylor gazed at her affectionately, shook his head, "No, I just wanted to see you." At this moment, he felt immensely satisfied.
"Then, shall I leave?" Jocelyn didn’t want to spend more time alone with him. She was very aware of her identity and her current situation.
If someone saw them, it would inevitably cause gossip, and Ian Shelby would also be caught up in the discussions.
But just as she stood up, she suddenly felt dizzy, and Jocelyn Morgan instinctively supported herself by the table corner.
The objects on the table began to overlap before her eyes. She frowned, shook her head, and looked up slowly at Taylor, "You... Is there something wrong with this wine?"
A searing feeling surged inside her, so intense, so sensitive, an ominous premonition instantly enveloped Jocelyn Morgan.
