Originally, neither of the two Undead had died in battle, so the final activation step of Gu Xi’s transformation was supposed to be the easiest.

But unexpectedly, Gu Xi encountered problems in this activation step.

As Gu Xi activated, numerous eyes appeared all over the bodies of these two Undead.

All these eyes resembled the Eye of Vitality, full of spiritual perception, tightly watching Gu Xi’s every move.

"What the hell!"

Gu Xi took a step back, startled by the situation.

Normally, his Undead transformation shouldn’t fail; at most, the Undead level would decrease slightly.

But faced with the current situation, Gu Xi couldn’t discern what was happening.

As Gu Xi retreated a step, the fused Undead body visibly enlarged, with its eyes multiplying, attempting to fly out towards Gu Xi.

The purple flame quickly ignited the Undead.

Within the flames, Gu Xi noticed that the Fox Eye Ring on his hand flickered again.

A beam of light shielded Gu Xi.

After igniting the Undead, the Spirit Lamp carrier spun around, placing a Mind Shield on Gu Xi.

At this time, the White Bone Obelisk carrier appeared, first granting a blessing upon Gu Xi.

Gu Xi was taken aback by the situation.

The fact that the White Bone Obelisk spontaneously emerged suggested that this upheaval was significant.

As the Undead was about to be burned to ashes, Gu Xi noticed, behind the countless eyes, an Octopus Head player whose skin had turned gray-purple.

The player stood on two aura layers; Gu Xi didn’t examine closely but knew one represented a profession above Level 20, and the other was likely the Octopus Head’s racial aura post-Level 20.

This player’s apparition wasn’t significant; what mattered was the numerous blinking items that caught Gu Xi’s attention on the Octopus Head player.

First, beneath the tentacles around his neck, a dry Fox Claw Necklace hung, looking unimpressive, yet Gu Xi recognized it at a glance as one of the nine-piece Fox Claw Necklace set.

It seemed this Octopus Head player indeed opened the Killing Stone Blind Box and obtained one of the Nine-Tails Divine Power components.

However, Gu Xi wasn’t sure of the Fox Claw Necklace’s traits or its potency.

Next was the small round shield the Octopus Head player held.

Judging by his attire and equipment, he was unmistakably a magic system player; what kind of mage, Gu Xi couldn’t ascertain yet.

However, holding a round shield, especially a solid metal one, hinted at certain contexts. Gu Xi noted sporadic occurrences of a pair of fox eyes opening to gaze outward.

One time, they even directly stared at Gu Xi’s location.

If it weren’t for the Mind Shield effect and the White Bone Obelisk’s blessing, the opposition might have seen Gu Xi.

His waistband was similar, though its style diverged from Nine-Tails Divine Power or the shoulder’s mantle, with a metal punk aesthetic adorned with neon-like colors.

When Gu Xi wanted to observe further, the Octopus Head player seemed to discover something, and a giant eye on his back opened.

Following this, Gu Xi heard a bang as something exploded on the spot.

"What’s happening?"

Gu Xi retreated again, noticing that the two Undead he’d intended to transform were now reduced to ashes, with no bones left.

The sound’s direction pointed to the Skeleton Shooter’s position.

The longbow Gu Xi had enhanced to Purple Equipment Quality through the Eye of Vitality had snapped in half and was unusable.

"Are you alright?"

Gu Xi quickly approached the Skeleton Shooter’s side.

He noticed the eyes installed on the longbow were the main cause of its breakage.

"Are there any other Eyes of Vitality?"

Gu Xi instantly realized the situation.

However, the Skeleton Shooter shook his head; all the Eyes of Vitality had been used on the two prior Undead.

There was no remaining Eye of Vitality.

Seeing the Skeleton Shooter’s response, Gu Xi understood the outcome.

Gu Xi sighed at this moment.

He had some speculation regarding the earlier situation.

That Octopus Head player was likely a high-ranking individual within the Octopus Head faction, given his possession of two Nine-Tails Divine Power pieces—such Orange Armor that enhances their race isn’t typically available to regular individuals.

This Octopus Head had observed Gu Xi through the Eye of Vitality’s vision.

His inspection was solely due to the gathering of a significant number of Eyes of Vitality, which Gu Xi had activated through his own power.

Though it was unclear whether this was an Octopus Head racial trait or whether they possessed any Divine Artifact perception.

Nevertheless, Gu Xi could distinctly feel his presence had been detected.

Looking back briefly at the just-dug layer of black ash, Gu Xi hesitated as a thought crossed his mind.

Under such pressure, Gu Xi contemplated retreat.

Yet faced with the black ash before him, he felt somewhat reluctant.

Originally, he could have claimed the Death City, but it was snatched away.

Now, he couldn’t even keep the foundation.

How did it come to this?

Now, Gu Xi found himself unable to advance or retreat.

If he abandoned, Gu Xi would truly have nothing left.

But if he didn’t abandon, he was targeted by someone above; unpredictable formidable foes might approach.

Finally, Gu Xi turned towards the White Bone Obelisk carrier.

"Bless me, I’ll lend some strength; we’ll remove some of the black ash. Everyone else, prepare to take whatever can be seen and get ready to retreat."

The White Bone Obelisk carrier nodded, reaching out to grab a handful of ashes from the Undead Transformation Array, preparing for the sacrifice.
