If Gu Xi’s memory served him right, that direction should be where the remains of the game world were stored in the pit.

Why would anyone be running over there to cause chaos with explosions?

In the sky, the purple glow fighting against the City Lord Bai Lian seemed to get excited upon hearing the explosion.

He raised his hand, sending three purple beams towards the City Lord Bai Lian, then flew rapidly towards the source of the explosion.

As soon as he arrived, he saw the ground had been blown open.

The river water flowing into Bailian City was pouring down below.

Upon seeing the situation below, the purple glow also looked puzzled.

Wasn’t it supposed to be easy to find the good stuff?

What happened? Why hasn’t it appeared yet?

While the purple glow wore a puzzled expression, the City Lord Bai Lian also arrived.

He raised his hand and unleashed Chain Lightning, striking the purple glow.

After this attack, the Heaven-Reaching White Gauze beside the City Lord changed its form, starting to replenish his Mana.

Meanwhile, the City Lord kept his eyes fixed on the purple glow before him.

Inside the purple glow was a player with an Octopus Head.

Unlike Gu Xi, as a City Lord, Bai Lian had knowledge of many things about the game.

He was also aware that the game world was not monopolized by humans alone.

In the game world, players from other races existed as well.

Some of them, like humans, stumbled into the game world by accident and eventually integrated over time.

Others were races initially from the game, having risen through the ranks after producing one or two masters who led their entire race to ascend.

Additionally, some humans who entered the game later discovered other races and slowly transformed themselves.

In any case, this game world was not exclusively human players as Gu Xi had believed.

However, due to issues within the game system, the players couldn’t fully integrate with each other.

There was little interaction between them, especially since Bailian City was actually a world cast into the depths of the game.

Contact with other races was relatively infrequent.

Some players might never encounter players from other races throughout their lives.

Only high-ranking individuals like the City Lord were aware of the existence of players from other races.

They also understood that within the game world, encountering players from other races meant engaging in battle.

Incidents like those directly attacking the real world were rare.

This time, the Octopus Head players came, and it wasn’t just one or two.

At least a group of ten, all equipped with Orange Armor, had arrived.

They stormed out from the game unexpectedly.

Had it not been for the City Lord’s quick response, sending them immediately to White Silk Lake, all ten might have been deployed in Bailian City.

Even so, five managed to break through.

The City Lord confronted one, neutralizing the entity devoid of purple glow, while a military leader tackled another.

The remaining three vanished into Bailian City.

From the explosion now, it’s clear they entered the sewer.

Something attracted them here, coinciding with the city’s ongoing attack by the Fusion Association.

Most of Bai Lian’s troops were committed to the siege against the Fusion Association, providing the opportunity for them to strike.

The City Lord’s face was grim as he surveyed the situation below.

This battle would set Bailian City’s population Experience back by at least a century.

Yet all of this stemmed from the whim of the Octopus Head players.

It filled the City Lord with utter resentment.

Now, the vanished three Octopus Head players were about to emerge.

The City Lord planned to launch a major offensive to kill the three players who had obtained items.

He wouldn’t allow them to take anything away.

But upon flying to the location, he found no activity below.

It was as if the previous explosion had obliterated everyone.

After hovering around for about half a minute, the City Lord swiftly reacted.

"The enemy just vanished like that."

With this thought, the City Lord raised his hand and struck the Octopus Head player with Lightning.

The Octopus Head player within the purple glow also sensed something amiss with the situation here.

Hit by Lightning, he immediately charged downward, turning into a purple long streak, heading toward the pit created by the explosion.

The City Lord promptly pursued him.

While descending, the City Lord activated the effect of the Heaven-Reaching White Gauze, shifting from Grandmaster Level Air Magic to Water Magic.

As the lake water poured down, it was as though it became part of the City Lord’s body, manipulated into water guns and swords slicing toward the purple glow.

The purple glow could feel the situation behind him.

But he couldn’t afford to think about anything else right now; he understood something had definitely occurred below, and he must find his companions.

Otherwise, their entire operation would be in jeopardy.

The purple glow accelerated downward with full force, his speed increasing drastically.

Just as he was about to reach the bottom, the purple glow suddenly halted.

"Don’t come any closer; we’ve been deceived."

Upon hearing this telepathic message, the purple glow understood that his three companions who descended earlier had already died in battle.

Furthermore, he saw through the telepathic message the scene of their companions’ demise.

They had effortlessly navigated the sewer and found what they were looking for.

However, as previously mentioned, each race within the game has a different system.

For the Octopus Head players, their method of dealing with the dead game world differed from that of humans.

They had never encountered such an approach of digging a pit and burying the dead game world beneath a city.

Upon seeing the purple crystals here, they hadn’t identified them as remnants of the deceased game world.

They only saw the ring Gu Xi had tossed into the depths of the pit.

This was why the Octopus Head players staged a major assault on Bailian City during the Fusion Association’s battle.

Within the Octopus Head faction, they also possessed a ring.

Thus, upon Gu Xi activating the ring, they had already taken notice.

Determining that the ring wasn’t guarded, they naturally attempted to reclaim it.

So these three Octopus Head players, relying on their Orange Armor, ignored the dead game world nearby, intending to seize the ring.

As a consequence...

An explosion occurred, and none of the three Octopus Head players escaped, leaving only a final telepathic message and a hunch.

They had been deceived.
