Use the medicinal herbs you've been purchasing and move on to creating shotguns as soon as you finish making potions.

I use three Demon Stones for my shotgun recipe, so the Demon Stones... Let's have some Higma's.

Can I make a shotgun with regular iron first?

Let's try to use the magic stone as it is without turning the machining around.

Iron Short Barrel Shotgun (Higma) 10 stars

Equipment Bonus DEX +30

ATK +90 DEX +30

Durable value: 120/120

Ammo loaded: 2

Yeah, well, it's made of iron and it would be like this.

I feel like maybe trying to make something more than this would overpower me.

The fact that the quality is stopped at 10 stars is probably also the manufacturing limit of the material.

Sure, I've heard that you can't cross a 10-star in a regular potion or something.

Short barrel shotgun performance, but apparently you're pretty aggressive.

We'll have to find out what the range is later, but that's behind us.

Well, you got a long barrel shotgun next.

Let's make the Demon Stone out of a hippo to match the conditions.

Iron Long Barrel Shotgun (Higma) 10 Star

Equipment Bonus DEX +30

ATK +50 DEX +30

Endurance value: 140/140

Ammo loaded: 4

Um, is the long barrel pretty much the same performance as the handgun?

Maybe if you make an iron handgun with your current strength, it should have similar performance.

I wonder what will happen as a sort of usage.

In the meantime, why don't you go try and shoot me?

"Twa, did you get a shotgun?

"Yeah? Yeah, I could, but I'm gonna go to the training center and make sure I don't know what it's like unless I try and shoot it."

"Oh well. Can I come with you?

"I don't mind, but I don't think it's very interesting either."

"Yeah, I'm fine. 'Cause I'm wondering what it's like, too."

"Well, then let's go"

Thus Yuki and I went to try and shoot, but when we entered the conversation room, there was an old man there.

"Oh, Mr. Twa. What's the matter with you?

"Oh, I made a shotgun, so I thought I'd give it a shot."

"Ho. That's of interest. Can my uncle come with me?

"I don't mind, but it's a prototype, so I don't think it's very strong or funny."

"I don't mind. My uncle was interested in shotguns."

"Really?

"To attack from a shielded state, it takes a lot of effort to target it as a regular handgun, hey. Shotguns might save you the trouble."

"... oh, that would be possible. Then head to the training center."

"I guess I'll do that. No, I'm looking forward to it."

The company has increased but will head to the training station as planned.

It's been a long time since I've used the training center lately.

"Okay, so what do you want to try?

"That's their range first. I hear the short barrel shotgun is a lot shorter."

"I see, that's important. I wonder how far it actually gets."

"I don't know. So I'm going to start with about two meters."

"Roger. I'd appreciate it if you could at least get about 5 meters."

"Well, I don't know. … Ok, I'm done with the target installation and suppose I'll start"

Equipped with a short barrel shotgun to target and pull the trigger.

They're going to hit this exact distance, and it seems to have taken a good deal of damage in purpose.

"If it's exactly two meters, it's in active range."

"Sounds like it. What are we gonna do next?

"Three meters in plausibility, I guess."

Reinstall the target and shoot the short barrel shotgun.

Damage came in as much as 3 meters, but it looks less damaging than it did when it was 2 meters.

I tried repeated experiments afterwards, but the effective range of the short barrel shotgun was limited to 3 meters and barely damaged when it reached 4 meters.

I tried the long barrel as well, but this one was 6 meters.

Also, whether it was a shotgun trait or the closer the distance to the target, the more damage was increasing.

Others also found that the attack spreads fan-shaped like a shotgun, draining eight bullets for each attack.

Plus, the recoil jumps the barrel when you shoot, but that's probably the specification, not the lack of muscle power.

Exactly. They shouldn't be as low in status as penalties would be with an iron weapon.

"I wasn't expecting you because you're a shotgun, but you have a shorter range than I imagined"

"Sounds like it. My uncle thought it would be a little longer."

"At 7 meters, it would be about the same range as a handgun, and you wanted to make a game-wise difference?

"You probably are.... So, Mr. Twa. When are you gonna make the finished product?

"Yeah? In the meantime, I plan to use up all the material that Dwan and the others made for practice. What's wrong with you?

"No, you want me to make it as your uncle's weapon, shotgun"

"I don't mind that. Which one do you use short or long?

"You just want to ask for both, if you can. so that they can be used separately by circumstances."

"Okay. When the prototype is finished, have Illis make a grip made of monster material and make the finished product with it."

"Please. No, I look forward to it."

"I'll do my best to keep up with expectations."

"I asked for it. Well, good to see you."

Experimental results came out, and we're leaving the training center behind.

Looks like the old man's going to his workshop, and Yuki's already going to log out.

After I dropped them off, I went back to my workshop to continue the prototype.

I tried to make different kinds of demon stones to find out the endurance limit with each material, but if it was made of iron, it could withstand about level 30, if it was made of demon iron, it could withstand about level 45, and if it was made of mythril, it could withstand up to about level 60.

Meteorite and Adamantite can withstand more than that, so they are not used to experiment with endurance values.

I also found that if I intentionally gave out a manufacturing crit, I would have to use the demon stone I get from a monster a little lower than if the crit wasn't out.

Incidentally, when the usual Boss Demon Stone was used to produce manufacturing criticals with Meteorite and Adamantite, the offense was 500 to 600 for short barrel shotguns and 400 to 450 for long barrel shotguns.

Obviously stronger than rifles and handguns, but after going to the training station and experimenting, I also found that the attenuation rate due to distance was not half as large as it was.

... This is perfect for close range combat.

In the meantime, the prototype and experiment are over, so I'm going to order a grip of monster material from Illis.

There are other players besides the old man who will want it, so I asked for about 10 for the time being.

... Well, that's enough time, or it's almost time for the date to change if it's real, so that's it for today.

The old man's shotgun doesn't need to be made today because it's waiting to be created by Illis. Let's just say it falls off.
