Unrivaled Soldier in the City

At 1:00 PM, Liu Shilin called to say she had already dispatched someone. The representative was a beautiful woman from the Yashi headquarters named Chen Mengting. Upon receiving the news, Lin Kuang and Lin Guo’er waited inside the company.

Around 4:30 PM, Chen Mengting arrived. Lin Kuang and Lin Guo’er went downstairs to greet her.

"Sister Guo’er, Brother Lin Kuang," Chen Mengting greeted them with a smile. She was, of course, very familiar with both of them.

"I had a feeling Shilin would send you," Lin Guo’er said with a smile. "And sure enough, it’s you. Let’s go to the meeting room. Everyone is waiting for you."

Chen Mengting’s performance at the East Sea headquarters had been exceptional, which was why Lin Guo’er had suspected she would be the one sent.

"Ah? Everyone’s waiting for me? Sister Guo’er, I’ve never chaired a meeting like this before. I’m a little nervous," Chen Mengting said, her face flushing. This was her first time leading such a large meeting, so her nervousness was understandable.

"It’s okay. Lin Kuang and I will be right there with you, so just be bold and do your best," Lin Guo’er said, patting her on the shoulder with a comforting smile.

"Alright then... I guess I’ll give it a try?" Chen Mengting said, still a bit uncertain.

"Of course, you have to try. Let’s go," Lin Guo’er said with a smile, pulling Chen Mengting into the elevator. Lin Kuang followed them in.

The three of them arrived at the conference room. The "meeting" was actually just a meet-and-greet. Lin Guo’er’s main intention was to let Chen Mengting get acquainted with the local senior staff.

Chen Mengting was indeed a bit nervous at first, but after saying a few words, she quickly found her footing and her aura grew stronger. Watching from the side, Lin Guo’er nodded repeatedly. Chen Mengting was undeniably a rare talent.

After the meeting ended, Chen Mengting breathed a sigh of relief.

"Excellent work, Mengting," Lin Guo’er praised, unable to hold back. "In a couple of years, it won’t be a problem for you to surpass me and Shilin."

Hearing this, Chen Mengting’s pretty face turned red. "Sister Guo’er, stop teasing me. I could never compare to you and Sister Shilin."

"Don’t be so modest. If I say it’ll happen, it will," Lin Guo’er said with a smile. "Alright, come on. I’ll treat you to a meal and then show you to your new home."

Chen Mengting nodded eagerly.

The three left the conference room. Lin Kuang and Lin Guo’er took Chen Mengting out for a meal, then brought her to her new accommodations in a villa district. The villa had been Song Yao’s former residence; now that she was gone, it naturally fell to Chen Mengting to move in. It came with a car and other amenities, with all expenses covered by the company. Seeing the wonderful residence and generous arrangements, Chen Mengting repeatedly thanked Lin Kuang and Lin Guo’er.

After getting Chen Mengting settled, Lin Kuang and Lin Guo’er returned to the Wumi Building.

"Mr. Lin, Mr. Zhang instructed me to bring you to see him when you returned," a member of the Wumi Building staff said upon seeing Lin Kuang enter the manor.

Lin Kuang paused for a moment, then nodded. "Okay, I’ll go right away. Guo’er, you head back first. I’ll be back soon," he said, glancing at Lin Guo’er beside him.

Lin Guo’er nodded obediently and took the elevator back to their room in the underground space. Lin Kuang, meanwhile, followed the staffer to Zhang Tianshun’s office.

"Mr. Zhang, Mr. Lin is here," the staffer announced.

Zhang Tianshun quickly looked up and smiled. "Mr. Lin, please, have a seat."

Lin Kuang smiled and nodded, sitting down across from him.

"You may leave," Zhang Tianshun said calmly to the Wumi Building staffer.

"Yes, Mr. Zhang." The man closed the door and left.

"Mr. Zhang, do you have news?" Lin Kuang asked with a smile.

Zhang Tianshun’s expression turned serious. "Yes, we have news. The Fan Family is indeed colluding with the Demon Sect, and their Family Head, Fan Wudao, is one of its members. What’s more, the Fan Family has several experts at the Three Flowers Gathering at the Top realm who are also from the Demon Sect. Furthermore, a Demon Sect Envoy at the Five Energies Towards The Origin realm is within the family, pulling all the strings. Fortunately, the rest of the Fan Family isn’t under the Demon Sect’s control. That might be the only good news we have."

Lin Kuang nodded silently. "I knew it. So Fan Wudao really is a member of the Demon Sect. It seems the Fan Family has quite a few hidden experts. What are your plans?"

"I’ve reported this to headquarters, and they’ve decided to send a Guardian Elder over," Zhang Tianshun said. "We have also notified the various Ancient Martial Arts families. The Zhantai Family, Yao Family, and Pei Family will all dispatch experts at the Three Flowers Gathering at the Top realm."

Lin Kuang nodded. He’d had minor disputes with these three families before, but such things were insignificant in the face of a crisis like this. His relationship with the Pei Family, in particular, had improved dramatically—after all, if not for his warning on Heavenly Mountain, their members would have likely all perished.

"When will they arrive?" Lin Kuang asked after a moment of thought.

"Tomorrow. They should arrive before noon," Zhang Tianshun replied.

"Good. We’ll meet tomorrow at noon to discuss our plan," Lin Kuang said with a smile.

Zhang Tianshun nodded. After all, that was their only course of action.

The two talked for a while longer before Lin Kuang left Zhang Tianshun’s office and returned to his room in the underground space.

Lin Guo’er was lying on the bed, reading a book out of boredom. When she saw Lin Kuang return, her face finally broke into a smile.

"You’re back?" she asked with a grin.

"Yeah, I’m back. Did you miss me?" Lin Kuang said, smiling back.

"Hmph, as if I’d miss you," she retorted, then her expression turned worried. "Is something about to happen again?"

"It’s nothing major, just a few small things. Once this is dealt with, the problems at our branch office will also be solved. I think it’ll take another day or two," Lin Kuang said thoughtfully.

The sharp-witted Lin Guo’er immediately grasped the key point. "Are you going to make a move against the Fan Family?" she couldn’t help but ask.

Lin Kuang didn’t hide anything, simply nodding with a smile.
