Chapter 787 - 788 Dramatic Ending
Before, the Gao and Zheng Families hadn’t realized it, but as their people were eliminated one after another, they finally recognized the severity of the problem. Only then did they discover that the Wang family had actually moved against them! Yes, the very same Wang family they had always overlooked had struck.
"Damn it, the Wang family actually made a move! Have they gone mad?" Old Master Gao barked in frustration, while Old Master Zheng’s expression was just as grim. At that moment, he finally understood why Lin Kuang had been so confident. It was all because of the Wang family, the Shen Family, and the remaining power of the Lin Family. For their two families to try and devour the Lin Family was an exceedingly difficult task!
Just then, another piece of news arrived, delivering a devastating blow to both the Gao and Zheng Families. The Wumi Building had made a high-profile announcement of its full and unwavering support for Lin Kuang and the Lin Family! Upon hearing this, both Old Master Gao and Old Master Zheng turned stark white, nearly fainting on the spot. They were acutely aware of how powerful the Wumi Building was and knew what kind of information it possessed. If the Wumi Building were to make that information public, the blow to their families would be absolutely catastrophic!
At that moment, both Old Master Zheng and Old Master Gao backed down. Still, they couldn’t fathom why the Wumi Building would support Lin Kuang and the Lin Family. This is just too damn abnormal!
Meanwhile, an order came from the higher-ups instructing everyone to cease their actions. Hearing this command, everyone had no choice but to stop. In an instant, the Zheng and Gao Families were utterly defeated. They had lost so many people, only for it to end like this. It was a simply unacceptable outcome, but they had to accept it whether they liked it or not.
Simultaneously, the higher-ups arranged for new people to take over the positions stripped from the Zheng and Gao Families. Lin Guodong was promoted to inherit his father’s position, and the Wang family’s losses were minimal.
Although this turn of events wasn’t a fatal blow to the Gao and Zheng Families, it meant they wouldn’t recover for several years. As for the Lin Family, while their losses seemed great, Lin Guodong’s promotion to his father’s powerful position meant they hadn’t suffered too much in the end. Meanwhile, the fence-sitters—or rather, the traitors—met a miserable fate. They knew all too well what was in store for them.
A chaotic power struggle had thus ended with surprising ease, with the Gao and Zheng Families being the biggest losers. Perhaps this was the balance the higher-ups were seeking?
With the matter finally settled, the happiest people were undoubtedly Lin Guodong and Lin Kuang. They had not anticipated this turn of events at all, especially the support from the Wumi Building, which was the biggest surprise. Of course, Lin Kuang’s thoughts immediately turned to Liu Mu. It must be Old Liu helping me. Who else could make such a decision? Not even the deputy Tower Master of the Wumi Building would dare to do so.
"Father, our Lin Family is still the Lin Family!" Lin Kuang said enthusiastically, looking at the emotional Lin Guodong.
Lin Guodong nodded vigorously. "Yes, the Lin Family is still the Lin Family. Your uncle will be very happy to hear this news."
"Indeed. This is very welcome news." Lin Zhan’s voice sounded from outside the door, and he walked in a moment later. He had just been wondering how to resolve this matter and never expected it to end so simply. This happiness came so suddenly.
"Uncle," Lin Kuang greeted with a smile.
Lin Zhan smiled and nodded back. "Kid, you’ve made a great contribution to the Lin Family this time."
"Not at all. I was just lucky, that’s all," Lin Kuang said with a grin, feeling extremely happy himself. The matter was finally over; how could he not be happy?
Now everyone knows the Wang, Shen, and Lin Families are united, and that colossal entity, the Wumi Building, is supporting us. With such powerful backing, how could the Lin Family possibly worry about its future development?
Hearing Lin Kuang’s words, Lin Zhan just shook his head with a smile. "You little rascal."
"Alright, alright. Today is a good day," Lin Guodong said with a smile, looking at Lin Zhan. "Second Brother, come home tonight. We’ll have dinner together as a family."
Lin Zhan was startled for a moment, then nodded with a smile. "Alright. I’ll come home tonight for a family dinner."
"Good, it’s settled then," Lin Guodong said with a smile. "I have to get busy. There’s probably a lot to deal with today."
Lin Zhan chuckled and nodded, then turned to leave. Seeing this, Lin Kuang departed as well.
After saying goodbye to his uncle, Lin Kuang got in his car, ready to head back to the Lin Family estate and reunite with his women. But just as he was driving out of the military district, he encountered Diwu Baiyu. Diwu Baiyu had vanished after Old Master Lin passed away, and Lin Kuang hadn’t expected him to reappear now.
Lin Kuang was just about to get out of the car when Diwu Baiyu slipped inside.
"Senior Diwu," Lin Kuang said respectfully.
Diwu Baiyu smiled. "Drive. I’m taking you somewhere."
Lin Kuang nodded. I don’t know where he’s taking me, but I’m sure he won’t harm me. With that thought, Lin Kuang started the car again, driving along the road as Diwu Baiyu guided him.
"Kid, when you use the Nameless Sword, do you ever feel anything unusual about it?" Diwu Baiyu asked with a smile.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang paused and thought carefully before replying, "If you hadn’t asked, I probably wouldn’t have noticed. But now that you mention it, I realize that every time I use Nameless, it feels like it has a soul of its own. It’s a very peculiar sensation—as if it has been bound and is struggling to break free."
Lin Kuang frowned in thought. The more he considered it, the more he felt something was off. He had never considered this possibility before; only now that Diwu Baiyu had brought it up did he begin to realize it.
Diwu Baiyu nodded. "Yes, you’re absolutely right, and so is your feeling. The Nameless Sword is a sword that has been sealed. The place I am taking you to today is where we will break the Nameless Sword’s seal and reveal its true form."
"What? The Nameless Sword is sealed? What’s going on?" Lin Kuang couldn’t help but ask, completely unaware of any of this.
"You’ve heard the rumors that combining the Nameless Sword and the Slash Path Sword will lead to a treasure, right?" Diwu Baiyu asked with a smile.
Lin Kuang nodded. He was aware of that much.
"But what you don’t know," Diwu Baiyu continued, "is that finding the treasure first requires breaking the seals on both Nameless and Slash Path!"
