Upon hearing Lin Kuang’s voice, the expressions of Chu Zhengpeng and Chu Xiong changed slightly.

"The inevitable has finally come," Chu Zhengpeng muttered.

At his words, Chu Xiong’s face turned ashen.

"Go on, invite him in," Chu Zhengpeng said indifferently from his chair.

With a grim expression, Chu Xiong nodded, then rose to open the door.

Lin Kuang looked at Chu Xiong with a grin. "Family Head Chu, you look awful. Didn’t you sleep well last night?" he asked as he strode inside.

Chu Xiong trembled with anger. He desperately wanted to punch Lin Kuang to death, but he couldn’t, and he didn’t dare.

"Mr. Chu, we meet again," Lin Kuang said with a chuckle, plopping down into the seat next to Chu Zhengpeng.

Hearing Lin Kuang’s words and seeing his brazenly casual actions, Chu Zhengpeng’s expression soured. He was Chu Zhengpeng! Even Old Master Lin had to show him some courtesy, yet Lin Kuang showed him no respect at all. How could he not be furious?

"Lin Kuang, you’ve gone too far. Aren’t you afraid our Chu Family will drag you down with us?!" Chu Zhengpeng asked, his face dark.

"Drag me down with you?" Lin Kuang scoffed, looking at Chu Zhengpeng. "Do you really think the Chu Family has what it takes?"

At his words, Chu Zhengpeng’s expression flickered.

Chu Xiong clenched his fists even tighter, glaring fiercely at Lin Kuang. At that moment, he truly wanted to take Lin Kuang down, even if it meant the entire Chu Family had to be sacrificed in the process!

Faced with this tense situation, Lin Kuang acted like a casual observer, watching quietly without saying a word.

After a long moment, Chu Zhengpeng finally spoke. "I understand why you’re here. Don’t worry, our Chu Family will give you all the help we can." His words carried a hint of helplessness, even submission.

Hearing this, Chu Xiong’s expression changed again, and he cried out, "Father!"

"Enough! Say no more," Chu Zhengpeng said with a grim expression. "My mind is made up, and that’s final!"

Sacrificing the entire Chu Family for the sake of one man, Lin Kuang, was simply not worth it. Besides, if they truly cooperated with him, the Chu Family might just have a path to survival. But if they made an enemy of him, the Chu Family would truly be finished.

Hearing Chu Zhengpeng’s decision, Lin Kuang smiled faintly. "See? Mr. Chu is a reasonable man. Rest assured, I promise you, if you help us through this crisis, I will no longer trouble your family."

"I hope so," Chu Zhengpeng said faintly, his voice lacking conviction. After all, the Lin Family was facing not only the Gao Family but also the Zheng Family, a veritable behemoth. Faced with two such giants, their chances seemed slim.

"I won’t just stand by and watch the Lin Family be destroyed. I’ve made my preparations," Lin Kuang said coldly, his gaze filled with murderous intent. "If they want to annihilate my family, I’ll make sure they suffer devastating losses of their own!"

Hearing this, Chu Zhengpeng simply shook his head and said no more. All he could do now was place his hopes in Lin Kuang. He had no idea where the young man’s confidence came from, nor did he want to ask. Even if he did, Lin Kuang wouldn’t tell him anyway.

"Well, Mr. Chu, I should be going. I still have another family to visit," Lin Kuang said, rising with a smile.

Chu Zhengpeng nodded. "Alright. Chu Xiong, escort Young Master Lin out."

Chu Xiong trembled with rage. He wanted nothing more than to kill Lin Kuang on the spot, yet here he was, being ordered to escort him out. The humiliation was infuriating.

"Go on!" Chu Zhengpeng snapped when he saw Chu Xiong hesitate.

"Yes, Father!" Chu Xiong replied through clenched teeth, then escorted Lin Kuang to the gate.

"Family Head Chu, you should be thanking me," Lin Kuang said with a cold laugh, glancing at the man beside him. "I’m the reason the Chu Family hasn’t been wiped out yet. So you can drop the murderous glare. You can’t kill me, and you don’t dare to try. So why bother pretending?"

Chu Xiong shot Lin Kuang a venomous glare but kept his mouth shut. He was afraid that if he said anything, he might just drop dead from pure rage.

Seeing Chu Xiong’s silence, Lin Kuang lost interest and simply drove away.

News of Lin Kuang’s meeting with the Chu Family naturally reached certain interested parties. As he left, someone continued to follow him. This time, however, Lin Kuang didn’t bother shaking his tail. It was no longer necessary.

He drove to the Zheng Family estate. The Zheng family also resided in a large quadrangle courtyard, a type of residence that was a symbol of status and, even more, of honor. Lin Kuang parked his car outside the gate and got out.

"Stop! Who are you?" the two guards at the gate demanded, blocking his path.

"I am Lin Kuang of the Lin Family," Lin Kuang stated calmly. "Please inform Family Head Zheng that I request an audience."

Hearing this, the guards’ expressions shifted. They exchanged a glance, and one of them hurried off to deliver the message. Lin Kuang waited quietly outside the gate.

He hadn’t even prepared what he was going to say; he didn’t know what to say. He was simply here to gauge the Zheng Family’s attitude. If they also intended to take a bite out of the Lin Family, then during the final confrontation, he would show them no mercy. The main purpose of this visit, therefore, was to test their intentions.

About five minutes later, the guard returned. "Young Master Lin, please come in. The Family Head will see you. Please follow me."

Lin Kuang nodded and followed the guard into the Zheng Family’s quadrangle without ceremony.

"The Family Head is waiting for you in the study. Please go in," the guard said before turning and leaving.

Lin Kuang stepped forward and knocked gently on the door.

"Come in," a voice called from inside.

He pushed the door open and stepped in. Inside the study, Zheng Kang, the Head of the Zheng Family, sat at his desk writing calligraphy with a brush. He didn’t even lift his head to glance at Ao Linkuang.

With a composed expression, Lin Kuang walked to the desk and looked at the characters Zheng Kang was writing. The man was just finishing the fourth character of a phrase that spelled out: *My mind is made up.*

Seeing these four words, Lin Kuang’s brow furrowed slightly, and a cold smile touched his lips. "It seems the Zheng Family also wants to carve out a piece of the Lin Family for themselves, hmm?"
