Chapter 227: Making a Move
"The Third Young Master has already reached the sixth floor."
An Xu Family descendant spoke, pointing to a speck of light on the sixth floor.
The sixth floor!
Patriarch Xu was overjoyed.
’As expected of my son, Xu Batian’s son! He truly is exceptionally talented!’
One had to understand that the Huangliang Tomb was no simple matter. Each floor was fraught with difficulty. In all of history, very few people over the past several hundred years had ever managed to enter the sixth floor.
For his son to be able to step onto the sixth floor was already far beyond his expectations.
Thinking of this, Patriarch Xu couldn’t help but feel proud. He turned his head to look, only to see that above the Huangliang Tomb, the sixth floor was dotted with many other specks of light.
Patriarch Xu was stunned. "How are there still so many people?"
An Xu Family descendant beside him shook his head. "Reporting to the Patriarch, we don’t know either. Logically, there shouldn’t be this many people on the sixth floor!"
"Patriarch, Patriarch! The Third Young Master is moving! He’s entered the 7th Floor!"
An Xu Family descendant suddenly shouted.
Patriarch Xu turned to look and saw that the speck of light representing his son, Xu Yingshan, had indeed flown up to the 7th Floor.
Looking back at the other specks of light on the sixth floor, they extinguished one after another, signifying their failure.
’Hmph, how could these nobodies possibly compare to his son!’
Patriarch Xu couldn’t help but feel proud.
At that moment, a beam of light shot down from above the Huangliang Tomb, and a young figure materialized. Someone had been eliminated from the tomb.
"Zicheng, why did so many people reach the sixth floor this time? In the past, it was rare for even seven or eight people to make it there."
Someone voiced their question.
Upon hearing this, the young disciple who had just come out beamed. "Senior Brother, it’s all thanks to that one person! If it weren’t for him, many of us probably wouldn’t have even made it past the second floor. It’s just a shame this Junior Brother of yours wasn’t strong enough to pass the sixth."
As he spoke, the young disciple began to gush, recounting the events that occurred inside the tomb.
Hearing this from the side, Patriarch Xu immediately started laughing. "Say no more! That person must be my son, Ying Shan. He’s the most righteous of them all!"
Hearing this, the young disciple turned his head, confused. "Third Young Master Xu?"
Then, he shook his head. "Patriarch Xu, the Third Young Master and I are good friends, I know him. That person was not the Third Young Master."
Patriarch Xu froze. "Not my son?"
He then shook his head, his face a mask of disbelief. "Impossible. My son, Ying Shan, just reached the 7th Floor. Besides him, who else could have such great ability?"
At this, the young disciple looked even more puzzled. "But Patriarch Xu, the Third Young Master wasn’t among those of us who entered the sixth floor. Aside from seeing him once on the second floor, I never saw him again."
"What?! You never saw my son!"
Patriarch Xu was stunned. "Impossible! Impossible! Absolutely impossible!"
Patriarch Xu looked up at the 7th Floor in astonishment, at the speck of light that had just entered. "If that’s the case, then who is this?"
The young disciple paused for a moment before guessing, "I think... it couldn’t be anyone else but *him*."
"And just who is this ’*him*’ you speak of?"
Patriarch Xu was flabbergasted.
The young disciple shook his head. "None of us know him. He seems to be Dugu Sheng’s underling; he came with Dugu Sheng."
’Him?’
Patriarch Xu froze, recalling the person who came with Dugu Sheng, the one he had completely overlooked.
"Impossible, absolutely impossible! If it’s him, then where is my son, Ying Shan, right now?"
Patriarch Xu still found it hard to accept. "Impossible, absolutely impossible!"
Yi Xingtian came over from the side and consoled him, "Patriarch Xu, please be patient. Since everyone has gathered here, we’ll find out what really happened soon enough."
Patriarch Xu suddenly calmed down and slowly looked toward the 7th Floor of the Huangliang Tomb. "That’s right! My son would never lose to that person!"
...
「Inside the Huangliang Tomb.」
Shen Daoxing saw a flash of white light. When his surroundings became clear again, he found himself in a world of ice and snow.
He looked into the distance at an endless, rolling expanse of snow-covered mountains. This place seemed to be a vast space.
And high in the sky hung the large, single character for "Soul."
Shen Daoxing didn’t know what this represented. He walked forward for a while, only to find nothing but snow around him.
"Demoness, you can’t escape today! Just accept your death!"
Just then, a sharp cry suddenly echoed through the sky.
Shen Daoxing followed the sound and saw the magnificently dressed Young Master Yu leap into the sky, his aura menacing. It was Xu Zheng.
And ahead of him on the snow-covered ground, the red-clad young woman, Dugu Sheng, moved with light footsteps, dodging and weaving as she continuously fled forward.
"Die!"
Xu Zheng bellowed, striking out with his palm. A giant, red Palm Seal materialized in the sky and descended abruptly, whistling as it tore through the air.
Before the red Palm Seal even arrived, the snow below it sank deeply, forming the imprint of a hand.
Dugu Sheng’s face was pale, her long hair tangled in the wind. Her slender body looked as if it could collapse at any moment.
Seeing this, Shen Daoxing didn’t hesitate. He vanished, and in the next instant, he appeared before the red-clad young woman, raising the Great Ming Demon Sparrow high and slashing down with it.
Instantly, the enormous descending handprint was split in two and shattered with a BANG.
The red-clad young woman paused, stunned. She glanced at Shen Daoxing and said flatly, "You didn’t have to interfere. I could have handled him myself."
’Still as stubborn as ever.’
Shen Daoxing shook his head helplessly. "My dear Lady Dugu, look at the wretched state you’re in. How are you going to deal with him?"
"It’s nothing!"
But the red-clad young woman said indifferently, "Once I recover a bit of my strength, I can turn the tables and kill him. Never mind a pissant like Xu Zheng—even that so-called Duke of Wu’an, Xu Xiong, will one day be cut down by me, Dugu Sheng."
Shen Daoxing was taken aback. If anyone else had said that, he would have thought they were just spouting nonsense. But the young woman before him was Dugu Sheng, the greatest genius in the history of the East Continent.
And the Duke of Wu’an, Xu Xiong, would indeed be killed by Dugu Sheng in the future. The entire Xu Family would be exterminated by her as well.
Hearing this, Xu Zheng, not far away, flew into a rage. "Demoness! Death is at your doorstep, and you’re still spouting lies! You’re courting death!"
"Destiny of Mountains and Rivers, Martial Eight Desolates Palm!"
Xu Zheng roared, his aura suddenly surging. He raised his palm high and brought it down with shocking force.
From all directions, streams of profound energy rapidly flew in and condensed beneath Xu Zheng’s palm.
Suddenly, a massive, solidified, and stately Palm Seal appeared in the sky.
It descended slowly with an overwhelming presence, as if to crush everything in its path. Wherever it passed, grass, trees, and even the earth itself exploded.
At this, Shen Daoxing merely gave it a casual glance and raised the Great Ming Demon Sparrow in his hand.
"Forbidden Sword Technique, Kunlun Duanyue!"
A single sword strike that could sever mountains and traverse heaven and earth.
The entire world seemed to be split in two as a long, narrow sword light, filling one’s entire field of vision, shot forth.
The stately, massive Palm Seal shattered with a SMASH, turning into specks of light that vanished into the sky.
