Chapter 181: Am I Your Kind of a Man?
"I am not a liar, Jannah," Dorrent murmured, his voice carrying a rough weight that anchored her down against the pillows. He leaned in closer, the scent of his pheromones thickening in the warm air of the bedroom. "You are far more beautiful than that woman ever was. She had a face shaped by wealth and the finest cosmetic enhancers money could buy, but it was hollow. Artificial. If I had met you earlier—if I had stumbled across you in this city before she ever crossed my path—I might have fallen for you instantly."
He stared down at her, his eyes scanning every inch of her face with intense focus that made her skin prickle. "You have a beauty that completely derails a man’s logic, little physician. It’s in the sharp, defiant fire of your dark eyes when you hate me. It’s in the way your soft lips curve when you’re dripping with malice, and the flawless texture of your skin that makes my hands shake just to touch it. You are entirely real, Jannah. Every breath you take, every tear you wipe away—it’s a captivating force that makes every other woman I’ve ever known look like a ghost."
Jannah’s heart gave an irregular thud against her ribs. For a fleeting second, a suffocating wave of conflicting thoughts crashed through her mind. The unblinking intensity in his handsome face looked so terrifyingly genuine. He didn’t look like a corporate king spinning a web of deceit; he looked like a man completely subdued by her image, laying his pride bare in the golden light of the lamp. Is he actually being sincere? she thought, her breath trapping itself in her throat. Could a monster truly look at someone with that much reverence?
But the moment the treacherous thought formed, her gaze flicked downward. She noticed his eyes heavying, his pupils dilating as his gaze deliberately drifted from her face, tracing a slow, predatory line down to her completely exposed breasts pulsing with her frantic heartbeat.
The spell instantly shattered. Her defensive walls slammed down with a deafening crash, a cold, mocking sneer cutting across her lips.
"You don’t see anything special in me at all, Alpha," Jannah spat out, her voice dripping with disdain as she tried to twist her upper body away from his shadow. "Don’t flatter yourself with those pathetic praises. You are just saying all this because of the desperate, perverted desires of your dick. That is the only thing driving your mouth right now."
Dorrent let out a rumble of a chuckle, completely unbothered by her sharp words. He didn’t shift his weight, his hand remaining firmly anchored on her bare hip. "If it were just about my dick, little physician, I wouldn’t be sitting here talking to you at three in the morning. And notice, I hadn’t even mentioned anything about you being the best in bed yet. Though, if we are speaking about your body..." His voice dropped into a deep, dirty rasp that made her face burn crimson. "I absolutely adore how flexible your hips are. I love how easily I can turn you around, molding your frame into whatever position I want when I’m fucking you. Your anatomy belongs to me, Jannah."
"Just stop already!" Jannah shrieked, her voice cracking with embarrassment and rage. She aggressively slammed her fists against his shoulders. "Shut your disgusting mouth and leave this room right now if you don’t have anything important or serious to talk about! Get off me!"
Instead of moving away, Dorrent’s expression suddenly shifted, the teasing smirk instantly melting off his handsome features. A profound solemnity took over his face. Slowly, he lowered his frame entirely onto her. He placed his head against her chest, resting his cheek right over her pounding heart, his shoulders eclipsing her view of the room as his torso pressed firmly against her skin.
"There is something very serious I want to talk to you about," Dorrent murmured, his voice muffled against her chest, the vibration of his words sending an electric tremor straight down her spine.
Jannah froze under the crushing, suffocating heat of his body. Her hands remained clenched against his shoulders, her breathing shallow as she tried to push his head away from her chest. "You can talk to me while not lying on top of me, Dorrent! Why the hell must you straddle me like this? It is uncomfortable, and I can barely draw a proper breath."
"I like it this way," Dorrent delivered flatly from her chest, his arms wrapping securely around her lower back to lock her against the mattress. "And if you’re afraid you won’t be able to bear the heat of my body, you shouldn’t worry at all. I will take care of you, little physician. I want you so bad right now that it is literally killing me. Just let me have this static."
Desperate to escape the intense, overwhelming proximity, Jannah gave a sudden heave of her hips, attempting to shift her lower half to the side of the mattress. But the moment she moved, her womanly junction brushed and roughly against the rigid length of his erection straining against his trousers.
She froze instantly, her entire body turning into stone. The heat of his hardness against her skin made her core give an involuntary throb of moisture.
Dorrent’s head instantly snapped up from her chest. His eyes were wide as he glared down into her panicked face. His jaw was clenched.
"If you don’t want that monster down there tearing your tight inside apart tonight, Jannah," Dorrent warned her, his voice dropping into a low, menacing growl that carried a terrifying authority, "you should stay still and listen to what I have to say. Don’t tempt my restraint any further."
"Damn you, you disgusting tyrant," Jannah cursed through her teeth, her voice trembling as she forced her limbs to remain still against the sheets, her eyes flashing with a murderous, helpless hatred.
"Good girl," Dorrent murmured, satisfaction settling over his features as he maintained his dominant stance over her legs. He leaned down a fraction of an inch, his hot breath grazing her chin. "Putting everything behind us for a second, Jannah... let me ask you something. Am I your kind of a man? If we had met under normal circumstances, would you have ever considered me your type?"
Jannah didn’t reply.
She turned her face away from his gaze, her eyes staring blindly at the golden pattern of the lamp light reflecting on the wall. The question hung in the silence of the room, forcing her mind into a chaotic spiral of thoughts. Is he my type? As much as her soul screamed to deny it, she couldn’t blind herself to reality. He was devastatingly handsome; a man whose sculpted features and dominant stature would make any woman lose her mind. He was wealthy beyond imagination, an S-tier god who possessed entire logistics chains and sectors. And well... as much as she loathed to admit it even to herself, he was also incredibly good in bed. He knew the precise architecture of her body, making her feel things so intensely ecstatic that her flesh craved him against her will. But his relentless arrogance, his constant manipulation, and his complete disregard for her boundaries were things she would never, ever stand for in a partner.
She turned her head back, fixing him with a cold glare. "You are completely far from my type, Alpha Grefo. I would have never considered you at all. Not in this lifetime, and not in any other."
Dorrent’s eyes narrowed, a spark of his stubborn, competitive pride flaring within the irises. "And what exactly disqualifies me, little physician? I know for a fact my looks don’t, and my game in bed definitely doesn’t make you complain. So what exactly is it that makes you claim I’m not your type?"
Jannah let out a gasp. "You are so full of yourself, Dorrent! You genuinely don’t think there is a single woman on this planet who doesn’t want you and see you as their perfect type. Your ego is sickening."
