Chapter 207: Quiet Damian Fails Immediately
The young woman turned toward Damian properly, her black-blue robes fluttering faintly in the gray mist.
Her sword was already sheathed, but her hand still rested near the hilt.
Clearly, she did not trust him.
Damian did not mind.
After all, a woman who trusted a strange man too easily inside the [Core Sword Domain] was probably either stupid or already dead.
She looked at him with cold eyes. "Why are you helping me?"
Damian blinked.
A second later, he grinned. "You heard what they said about me, and what I said before, right?"
Her brows tightened slightly.
Damian tapped his chest proudly. "I like beautiful women."
The young woman stared at him.
For a moment, the white sword domain behind her hummed softly, as if even the sword inside felt speechless.
HUMM...
Damian ignored it and continued shamelessly, "Also, before questioning my noble intentions, can you tell me your name first?"
She looked at him like she had just seen some rare disease. "My name is Cassandra."
Damian nodded calmly. "Okay then, Cassandra."
He placed one hand behind his back, lifted his chin slightly, and spoke with righteous confidence. "I am here because I love beautiful women."
Cassandra frowned. "What a hypocrite."
Damian’s expression stiffened. "That’s bad, you know."
Cassandra’s eyes became colder. "Bad?"
Damian pointed at himself. "You’re calling me a hypocrite without knowing who I really am. That hurts my very pure and fragile heart."
Cassandra stared at him silently.
Her expression clearly said she did not believe a single damn word.
Damian sighed dramatically. "Look, I never said I was righteous. I never said I was some noble hero. I’m just honest about my weakness."
"And your weakness is beautiful women?" Cassandra asked flatly.
Damian nodded without shame. "Exactly."
Cassandra seemed to want to say something, but in the end, she only shut her mouth.
Talking to this man felt exhausting.
Worse, he looked completely serious.
Damian glanced at the three corpses on the ground, then back at her. "Anyway, you can relax. I’m not with them, and I don’t care about the Valeria Clan’s bounty."
Cassandra’s fingers tightened slightly.
Damian noticed, but his tone stayed casual. "Of course, if you want to tell me your tragic backstory, I’ll listen."
Cassandra frowned. "No need. I don’t trust you."
Damian’s expression cooled a little.
For a brief moment, the shameless smile on his face faded, and his eyes became calmer. "Fair enough."
Cassandra looked at him more carefully.
That answer was unexpectedly normal.
Unfortunately, Damian opened his mouth again. "But you should at least appreciate my handsome face while distrusting me. That’s basic politeness."
Cassandra’s face twitched.
"I also don’t like you," she said coldly.
Damian smiled back without the slightest injury to his pride. "That one can change."
Cassandra stared at him in silence.
For some reason, she suddenly felt the three dead men had been easier to deal with than Damian.
---
Cassandra no longer wanted to waste words with Damian.
She turned away and walked toward another direction of the [Core Sword Domain], her black-blue robes fluttering softly in the cold sword Qi.
Damian naturally followed behind her.
After a few breaths, Cassandra stopped.
Her cold eyes turned back toward him. "Why are you following me?"
Damian blinked as if the answer was obvious. "Why not?"
Cassandra’s expression became colder. "I didn’t ask you to follow me."
Damian nodded calmly. "True, but I like beautiful women. Compared to walking alone in this gloomy sword graveyard, following you is much better."
The white sword domain behind them hummed faintly, as if it also felt annoyed.
HUMM...
Cassandra’s fingers moved toward her sword hilt. "Leave."
Damian smiled. "Don’t be so cold. I’m very quiet when I want to be."
Cassandra stared at him.
Damian added seriously, "Sometimes."
That was the last straw.
Cassandra sword flashed out of its sheath.
SHING!
A thin dark-blue line cut through the mist, aiming straight for Damian’s throat.
Her attack was fast, clean, and ruthless.
Damian’s eyes brightened slightly.
[Thunder Flash Steps] activated.
CRACKLE!
His figure shifted half a step aside, and the sword edge passed close to his neck.
Cassandra’s wrist turned instantly.
The blade curved back like flowing shadow.
SWISH!
Damian raised two fingers and caught the flat of the blade.
CLANG!
Cassandra’s eyes changed.
Damian’s fingers were wrapped in Chaos Qi, holding her sword in place like iron clamps.
"Wow," Damian said with genuine praise. "You’re quite good."
Cassandra’s expression became even worse.
She pulled back, twisted her body, and kicked toward his ribs.
Damian caught her ankle with one hand.
PAK!
The next moment, he stepped forward and lightly pressed his palm against her shoulder.
Chaos Qi surged.
Cassandra’s body stiffened, and her movement was forcefully stopped.
She tried to circulate Qi, but Damian’s pressure was heavier than she expected.
Too heavy.
For a brief moment, she could not move.
Damian leaned slightly closer and smiled. "Careful. I’m stronger than I look."
Cassandra’s eyes became icy. "Let go."
Damian immediately released her and raised both hands. "Relax. I’m not trying to bully you."
Cassandra stepped back, her face cold and ugly.
She had underestimated him.
This shameless bastard was not just annoying.
He was dangerous.
Damian rubbed his chin. "You’re searching for a compatible sword, right?"
Cassandra’s gaze sharpened. "That has nothing to do with you."
"I know." Damian smiled. "I’m just curious."
Cassandra stared at him for several breaths.
Finally, she sheathed her sword with a cold expression. "Fine. If you want to follow, then follow."
Damian’s eyes brightened.
Cassandra’s voice turned colder. "Don’t disturb me."
Damian nodded quickly. "Sure, sure."
Cassandra turned around and continued walking.
Damian followed behind her with a satisfied smile.
The white sword domain hummed again.
HUMM...
Damian glanced at it. "What? I said I’d be quiet."
Cassandra’s voice came from ahead. "You already failed."
Damian coughed and obediently shut his mouth.
It did not last long.
"Hey, can you tell me your story?"
Cassandra’s cold gaze cut back. "I said don’t disturb me."
Damian grinned. "What if I give you this?"
The moment Cassandra saw it, her eyes widened in surprise.
