Chapter 246: Damian Discovers Parallel Worlds
Damian stared at the frozen system movie in front of him, and the corner of his mouth twitched violently. "Damn it."
The system did not respond.
That only irritated Damian even more, making him curse out loud. "Why the hell did you end it right there? Goddammit, that’s the worst possible place to stop!"
The system remained completely silent.
Only the cold notification continued floating in front of him.
---
[Current Favorability Is Insufficient To Continue Viewing Vulkara’s Destiny Story.]
---
Damian rubbed his forehead and released a tired sigh. "Favorability, favorability... fine. I fucking get it."
He leaned back against the bed and stared blankly at the ceiling for a while.
For several moments, Damian simply remained there, annoyed that the system had cut off the story at the exact moment Vulkara entered the Sword Tomb.
A little later, however, his expression slowly changed. A strange thought suddenly appeared in his mind. "Wait a damn minute..."
Damian sat upright, his irritation fading as his expression grew serious. "System, there’s something strange about that story."
The system interface flickered faintly, though no answer appeared.
Damian continued anyway. "Even though you called this Vulkara’s changed destiny, I wasn’t anywhere in it."
His voice gradually became more serious. "Didn’t her destiny change because of me? But in this movie, I was gone, and somehow everything seemed to rearrange itself."
Damian rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "She still survived. She even made it to the Heavenly Sword Sect and became a blacksmith here."
He stared at the frozen image once again. "That’s fucking way too close to the path she’s currently walking in this world."
He became silent for another moment.
Something about it simply did not feel like the system was showing him an ordinary prediction of what might have happened.
His eyes gradually sharpened. "And that’s exactly why I’m asking..."
Damian leaned slightly closer to the system screen. "System, did you actually show me another version of Vulkara’s life... or, better yet, let me phrase it another way. Another world?"
He paused as something from his past life suddenly came to mind, the stories, movies, games, and theories that dealt with this kind of shit.
Damian focused his attention back on the system. "Like a multiverse, where there are different versions of Vulkara... am I right, System?"
For several breaths, the system remained silent. A moment later, however, the interface finally flickered.
---
[Indeed.]
[The destiny story shown to Host is connected to another parallel world or parallel timeline.]
[Host may understand this through the multiverse concept contained within Host’s memories.]
---
Damian’s eyes slowly widened. "Damn... so it really is a multiverse?"
The system screen flashed again.
---
[Correct.]
[That parallel world does not possess Host’s existence. Therefore, the target’s fate develops along a different route.]
[However, each target’s destiny is not fixed.]
[Their fate continuously changes according to current circumstances.]
[This is also one of the primary reasons their Multiplier changes.]
---
Damian stared at the explanation for several moments before slowly nodding. "I see... so that’s how it works, huh?"
He had already suspected that the changes in a target’s multiplier were somehow connected to her villainess destiny.
Apparently, he had been right.
The multiplier was not merely some random number determining how many rewards Damian received.
It also reflected how much the woman’s destiny had changed and, more importantly, how significant she had become within her current fate.
In other words, the higher the multiplier became, the greater her potential importance within that parallel world’s story or even current world.
Damian rubbed his chin as his eyes gradually brightened. "Interesting... very fucking interesting."
This meant Vulkara’s jump to 150x was even more significant than he had originally thought.
Her fate had not merely improved.
She had somehow become a far more important existence within that and this version of the world.
But suddenly, a thought flashed through his mind, causing his expression to change. "Wait a minute."
He leaned closer toward the system screen. "System, if destiny is always changing like that... what about those four harem members of mine?"
The system remained silent.
Damian continued, "Linsey, Helena, Cynthia, and Evelyn."
He clearly remembered what the system had previously told him about them. "You said those four had already changed their villainess fates enough to escape their original bad endings."
His eyes narrowed slightly. "So what does that mean for their current destiny stories?"
No answer appeared.
Several seconds passed.
Damian’s expression gradually became more suspicious. "System?"
The interface remained strangely quiet. That silence alone was enough to make Damian sit a little straighter.
Whenever the system took this long to answer, it usually meant one thing... the answer was probably going to be troublesome.
Finally, the system interface flickered again.
---
[Answer: The members of [Forbidden Immortal Harem] are special cases.]
[In the current world, Linsey, Helena, Cynthia, and Evelyn have already eliminated the primary sources of their original bad fates.]
---
Damian’s eyes shifted slightly. "Eliminated the sources?"
The system continued.
---
[Correct.]
[The key causes that originally led them toward their bad endings have already been removed, destroyed, or permanently resolved.]
[Therefore, their fate will no longer change in the same manner as women whose villainess destinies remain active.]
---
Damian became quiet for a moment.
Linsey, Helena, Cynthia, and Evelyn had already escaped the roots of their tragedies.
The things that were originally supposed to push them toward destruction had either disappeared completely or been dealt with long ago.
In other words, their original villainess routes had basically been broken.
Damian rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "So their multiplier won’t suddenly rise or fall because of some revenge fate, future tragedy, or whatever bullshit was originally waiting for them?"
The system screen flashed again.
The system screen flashed again.
---
[Correction: Their Multiplier will never decrease. It may only increase.]
[Their current Multiplier is primarily affected by changes in their talent, bodily constitution, and overall potential, as well as their importance within the current world.]
[Cultivation Realm alone does not directly increase their Multiplier.]
---
Damian slowly nodded as the explanation became clear. "I see."
In other words, their fate had already stabilized.
They were no longer villainesses constantly walking toward some predetermined destruction.
Their original tragedies had ended, and the system no longer needed to judge them based on whether they were getting closer to or farther away from those bad endings.
Now, their multipliers depended more on what they became afterward.
If their talent evolved, their physiques transformed, their bloodlines improved, or they became more important existences within the world, their multipliers could continue rising.
However, they would never fall below what they had already achieved.
Damian leaned back against the bed and released a relieved breath. "That’s good."
His shoulders relaxed noticeably. "At least I don’t have to keep worrying about those four getting dragged back into some shitty villainess tragedy again."
A faintly satisfied look settled across his face. "They’ve already escaped their bad endings. From here on out, they just need to keep becoming stronger."
For once, that was a system explanation Damian was genuinely happy to hear.
