Chapter 274 - 246: Do You Want to Mate With Him?
Gu Ning’s body swayed as his large hand, big enough to almost completely cover her head, ruffled her hair.
"..."
’It feels like he’s grabbing my whole head.’
"Wolf Team, let me do it," Gu Ning said again.
Vine replied, "This is what I should be doing."
Gu Ning sighed internally. "In that case... be gentle."
Vine’s movements paused, and he eased up on the force. "When you have time, I’ll take you to work out. You also need to eat more. You’re too light."
’Wolf Team, don’t be so obsessed with making me exercise!’
She felt healthier than ever. Now that her diet had improved, the flesh had returned to her cheeks.
Gu Ning complained silently to herself. Pinned here by the Wolf Team to have her hair dried, the thought of cutting it short surfaced in her mind again. It would make washing it so much easier, and she wouldn’t have to blow-dry it for so long.
Vine said no more, continuing to diligently help her dry her hair.
The bedroom fell silent once more.
Gu Ning felt that Vine was being unusually quiet.
She didn’t want to start a conversation either, lest Vine say something frightening again or use it as an excuse to lecture her. After some thought, she opened her terminal to ask Andrew about Alex.
The moment she was about to hit send, Gu Ning felt it was inappropriate.
She curled her fingers, deleted the message in the chat box, and turned to ask the strict but upright wolf beside her, "Wolf Team."
Vine’s hand paused in her hair. He then naturally smoothed it down. "What did you want to tell me?"
Gu Ning turned her body slightly toward him and spoke slowly, "Alex... where is he? Can you tell me?"
Vine’s immediate impulse was to say no, but when he saw the young female’s pleading gaze, he took a shallow breath and turned off the hairdryer. "You’re very worried about him?"
Gu Ning nodded.
Vine glanced at her terminal. He knew she must have already tried to contact Alex and only came to him when she couldn’t get through.
"I can’t contact him at the moment either." Vine chose his words carefully before telling her, "The general assigned him another mission. I don’t know the specifics, but he’s a head wolf with outstanding abilities. You don’t need to worry about him."
"Alright," Gu Ning said. ’At least now I know he was really assigned another mission. I trust Vine wouldn’t lie to me.’
Vine asked, "You miss him a lot?"
Before Gu Ning could think of how to answer, he asked, "How long have you two been mates?"
’...Huh?’
Vine lowered his head and stared intently at her face. "Besides worrying about him, do you also wish he were by your side?"
’Well, naturally. It would definitely be better if Alex were here.’
Vine sniffed the air around her and asked hesitantly, "Are you in heat?" Her scent seemed a little different from usual. Compared to when he had suspected she was in heat back in the car, this scent was much more convincing.
"..."
Gu Ning scrambled to her feet and ran.
She didn’t understand how this head wolf could always suddenly blurt out things that made her blush and her heart pound.
She felt that if she didn’t run now, he might offer to help mask her scent or something, just like he did in the car. She was in a safe residence now; she didn’t need him to do that.
Gu Ning ran out of the bedroom and was startled by a figure leaning against the doorframe.
"Barto?" After getting a clear look, Gu Ning clutched her chest. "What are you doing here?"
Barto pouted. "You don’t want me here? Was I interrupting something?"
Gu Ning glanced back into the bedroom, ignoring his sour tone, and pulled him by the wrist toward the living room. "Where’s the little fox?"
After she spoke, she realized she couldn’t budge Barto.
Barto stood rooted to the spot, refusing to move no matter how she pulled.
Gu Ning looked back at him. "What’s wrong?"
Barto stared at her, his expression unreadable. Hearing the head wolf approaching from behind, he reversed his grip and grasped her wrist. "Get dressed. I’ll take you to see it."
.
The little fox was locked in the room next to Gu Ning’s.
Gu Ning got dressed and went inside, immediately spotting the little fox squirming on the floor.
Its paws and feet were bound, and its mouth was gagged. Upon seeing them, it let out a whimpering sound and rolled on the floor, wiggling its butt as it squirmed toward Gu Ning.
Seeing this, Gu Ning squatted down, about to remove the cloth strip gagging its muzzle.
Barto closed the door behind her and strode over. Before she could untie the little fox, he wrapped an arm around her waist, scooped her up, and carried her over to the sofa.
Gu Ning found herself sitting on his lap. Before she could figure out what was happening, Barto buried his head in the crook of her neck and started sniffing vigorously.
’? What’s he doing all of a sudden?’
She tried to push Barto’s head away but couldn’t budge him. The fox-man seemed to be searching for something, sniffing at her neck for a moment before moving his head down from her chest to her stomach, showing signs of going even lower.
The little fox squirming on the floor saw what was happening, and its eyes went wide.
’The Beast Mother! What did I just see?’
’That humanoid fox is actually holding a Dwarf hybrid and sniffing her!’
’Holy crap!’
’Secondary deviation really is unreliable! I thought that redhead was a success story, but he deviated into a pervert!’
’Ahhh, my eyes!’
’BLECH! BLECH! BLECH!’
’Can someone please ungag me so I can puke!’
Minoz wanted nothing more than to gouge his own eyes out, but for some reason, he couldn’t stop looking. The more he watched, the more disgusted he felt, so he forced himself to look away at the photos of Yuanbao scattered on the floor.
’Sigh. I used to think those Beastmen who like virtual females were morons, but compared to this redhead pervert, those morons seem normal now. At least they’re just stupid, not perverted.’
Just as Barto’s head was about to bury itself between her legs, Gu Ning yanked it away. She struggled out of his arms and scrambled to the edge of the sofa, looking at Barto in horror.
"Barto, what are you doing?!"
’Why does Barto seem so strange all of a sudden?’
Barto frowned at her. "Have you not felt any changes in your body?"
Gu Ning shook her head.
Barto’s nose twitched. That unique fragrance was very faint, but it was different from her usual scent.
Although he had degenerated at a very young age, he could still distinguish what those scents represented.
For example, Gu Ning’s current scent was like...
"You were just with Vine. Did you want to mate with him?" Barto said.
A giant question mark popped up in Gu Ning’s mind. ’Huh?’
Barto stared at her expression. "Do you have the desire to mate with anyone?"
Minoz: ’?’ His ears shot up, then flattened hard against his head. ’I really wish I were deaf.’
Gu Ning held up her hands. ’Stop, stop! Let me get this straight.’
"No!" Gu Ning looked at Barto as if seeing him for the first time. ’What on earth is Barto trying to do?’
Soon, she calmed down. Barto wouldn’t do these things for no reason; there had to be a cause.
"Is something wrong... with me?" she asked.
Seeing that she seemed completely normal with no unusual reactions, Barto found it strange too. He was about to ask more about her physical condition when his terminal displayed an incoming call from a certain annoying fox.
He glanced at the little fox curled into a ball on the floor, tossed him into the bedroom, and sat down next to Gu Ning to accept Deviant’s call.
