Chapter 400 - 399-
"Your grandson is currently being held in custody by the Enforcing Authorities of Sky Mist City. Until he is proven innocent, he will not be released."
After hearing her words, the old man suddenly became motionless.
Several seconds passed.
It was as though he had completely blacked out.
The strange presences around him also became deathly still.
Then, his eyes slowly rolled backward until only the whites remained visible.
A chilling silence descended upon the street.
Finally, a voice emerged from his mouth.
No.
Not a voice.
Thousands of voices.
"I... want... my... grandson."
The moment those words fell, the air itself seemed to grow heavier.
Then, without any warning, the old man took another step forward.
To Grey, that single step felt as though the entire world was collapsing around him. It felt as if the very heavens above were trembling violently and were on the verge of crashing down upon their heads.
An indescribable pressure descended from the old man, causing the air itself to become heavy and suffocating.
Instinctively, Grey’s body reacted. Every fiber of his being screamed at him to retreat. His feet had already begun moving backward when he suddenly felt a familiar fluctuation coming from within his shadow.
The shadow was afraid.
He could clearly sense its fear.
Yet, beneath that fear lay something even stronger, an intense hunger and a terrifying bloodlust. It was as though the shadow had encountered prey that it desperately wished to devour.
That faint emotion instantly steadied Grey’s mind.
The fear in his heart gradually subsided, and his rapidly beating heart calmed down. The foot that was about to step backward halted abruptly.
A low snort escaped his lips.
Instead of retreating, he took a step forward.
Boom!
An extremely powerful aura suddenly erupted from his body.
It was as if a dormant volcano had exploded within him.
Waves of intense heat surged out from his body and spread into the surroundings. The air distorted from the scorching temperature, and the ground beneath his feet began to crack slightly.
Grey had activated his Special Brilliance Form!
The moment the transformation was completed, he felt an overwhelming wave of confidence wash over him. Every muscle in his body seemed to contain explosive power, and his senses became exceptionally sharp.
However, he did not allow this sudden confidence to cloud his judgment.
The old man was far too terrifying.
Even now, Grey could not see through his cultivation.
At that moment, the old man finally completed his step forward.
Boom!
Grey’s expression changed.
It truly felt as though the sky itself had collapsed onto his shoulders.
An unimaginable pressure descended upon him, causing his blood to churn and his breathing to become labored.
However, a sharp glint flashed through his eyes.
Without the slightest hesitation, he performed several hand seals with astonishing speed before thrusting his palm toward the old man.
A moment later, a blazing sphere of fire appeared in front of him.
The surrounding temperature instantly soared.
The fireball expanded rapidly until it became nearly the size of a carriage.
Then...
Whoosh!
It shot toward the old man like a blazing meteor.
Grey had learned this technique during his period of secluded cultivation.
In fact, he had only mastered it two days ago, and this was the very first time he was using it in battle.
The technique itself did not possess a name. He had found it among the numerous techniques he had looted from the sinister old man in Green City.
After mastering it, however, Grey had decided to give it a name.
Inferno Cannon!
The gigantic fireball tore through the air, carrying with it a terrifying amount of heat and destructive power.
Yet, the old man remained completely unmoved.
He neither flinched nor showed the slightest trace of surprise.
Instead, his eyelids drooped slightly as he spoke in an aged and downcast voice.
"Weak... technique."
As soon as the words left his mouth, he gently blew out a breath.
A simple breath.
A cold stream of air collided with the massive fireball.
Then, an unbelievable scene occurred.
The gigantic Inferno Cannon trembled for a brief moment before being extinguished entirely.
The flames disappeared as though they had never existed.
The cold breath from the old man’s mouth had effortlessly erased Grey’s attack.
Grey’s pupils contracted violently.
Although he had never expected the attack to injure the old man, he had at least believed it would force him to take the attack seriously.
Yet, the old man had dispelled it with nothing more than a casual breath.
The difference in strength between them was simply too great.
However, panic did not appear in Grey’s eyes.
Instead, his gaze became even sharper.
He had expected something like this.
Inferno Cannon had merely been the first move.
Without pausing, he immediately activated the second phase of his attack.
Clap!
Grey brought his hands together in an incredibly swift and forceful motion.
The instant his palms collided, a cold stream of energy surged out from his core.
The icy energy flowed through his meridians and spread throughout his body before converging within his hands.
Then, it exploded outward.
A terrifying wave of frost spread in every direction.
The surrounding temperature plummeted instantly.
The streets, buildings, and even the nearby air became several degrees colder, as though the entire area had suddenly been dropped into the heart of a raging blizzard.
The cold was so intense that frost began forming on the ground.
However, the place where the temperature was the lowest was the spot occupied by the old man.
This technique was none other than...
Forbidden Stream!
A technique that Grey had not used for quite some time.
The freezing energy rushed toward the old man like an invisible tide, threatening to freeze everything in its path.
This was the second stage of the attack that Grey had carefully prepared.
And at almost the exact same moment that Forbidden Stream erupted, Violet finally made her move.
A terrifying series of attacks exploded from her position, rushing toward the old man in perfect coordination with Grey’s assault.
Violet’s attacks were not as swift as Grey’s, but they contained an overwhelming and terrifying lethality that made even the slightest mistake fatal.
The first move she made was deceptively simple, she threw an apple toward the old man.
However, because the old man’s speed far exceeded everyone’s expectations, she had acted a moment later than Grey. By the time the apple left her hand, the old man had already crossed the distance and was facing Grey.
Even so, the apple continued to fly through the air with astonishing speed.
The old man never bothered to turn around. In his eyes, the apple was nothing more than an ordinary object, something incapable of threatening him.
But then, a strange change occurred.
The fresh red apple suddenly began to wither.
Its skin darkened at a visible rate, turning from bright crimson to a sickly black. Wrinkles spread across its surface, and the flesh rapidly decayed as though centuries had passed in the blink of an eye.
In less than a fraction of a second, the apple had completely rotted away.
An indescribable aura of death seeped out from it, causing the surrounding air to grow cold and heavy.
Yet, the transformation was not over.
The decayed apple suddenly twisted and contorted. A sinister face emerged upon its surface, bearing an uncanny resemblance to Violet’s own features.
The tiny face wore a vicious smile filled with malice and evil intent.
The instant this happened, the old man, who had previously ignored the attack entirely, abruptly halted.
He slowly turned around to face Violet.
For the first time, his expression changed.
The blank and listless look on his face disappeared, replaced by excitement and a madness that bordered on fanaticism.
His eyes widened as though he had discovered a priceless treasure.
"Another product of God!"
The moment those words left his lips, the rotten apple exploded with a deafening bang.
Boom!
It burst apart into a cloud of black mist that surged forward like a living creature and flowed directly into the old man’s nose.
This was the true purpose of Violet’s first attack.
And almost at the same instant, she launched her second.
However, before doing so, she activated her Special Brilliance Form.
Boom!
A deep, muffled sound echoed through the surroundings.
It was like the sound of an entire world being refined within a gigantic cauldron, the heavens and earth themselves being smelted by an ancient force.
A terrifying wave of heat erupted from Violet’s body.
The ground beneath her feet cracked, and the surrounding air distorted from the intense temperature.
Four dazzling Balls of Spirit Fire appeared around her figure, each one radiating a different and mysterious brilliance.
They revolved around her body like miniature suns, bathing her in a divine and destructive aura.
At that moment, Violet looked less like a human cultivator and more like a goddess of destruction descending upon the mortal world.
The flames in her eyes intensified.
Then, without the slightest hesitation, Violet’s true attack finally followed.
