Grey’s expression gradually became solemn as he walked forward gloomily. When they arrived at the cave entrance, the young girl bowed before looking at Grey.

Grey turned to look at her when he heard a cold voice utter in his mind.

"You may enter!"

As soon as the voice resounded in his ears, the thick veil of darkness in front of the cave seemed to be disappeared.

Grey showed respect by cupping his hands and bowing slowly. A few moments later, he stepped into the cave.

As soon as Grey entered the cave, Violet, who was still hiding behind him, heard a cold snort followed by an incredibly powerful gust of wind.

"Pests are not allowed here!"

As soon as the voice sounded, Violet’s invisible form was violently pushed away from the cave entrance and landed near the bowing statues and the two pillars.

"Hmph! This woman is always doing this. How did she even know that I was coming?"

There was a hint of surprise in Violet’s voice as the form she was using gradually began to reveal itself.

The invisibility that had cloaked the Captain’s form slowly faded away, revealing a transparent, bluish, squirming maggot that was no larger than an ordinary worm.

The voice came from the strange maggot as it tried to move closer to the cave entrance. However, there seemed to be an invisible force stopping it from moving any further.

Violet struggled against the invisible barrier for a while, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t get through.

A few moments later, her angry muttering could be heard from beside the two pillars.

However, she didn’t attempt to enter again.

She had already acknowledged that she couldn’t get through anymore.

Her previous plan to sneak into the cave abode had also been seen through and stopped before it could even begin.

In the end, a helpless sigh rang out from the space surrounding the transparent blue maggot.

"Fine! I’ll just wait for little Grey to come out."

After saying that, the transparent maggot’s body suddenly began to distort. Its tiny form gradually blurred before disappearing from sight once more.

Violet had no choice but to wait outside.

---

Inside the cave abode, Grey’s eyes immediately caught sight of a figure sitting silently at a table.

In front of the female figure was a chessboard, with several pieces already set in place.

She seemed to be the only one playing at the moment, and she was currently pondering her next move with great seriousness.

The entire cave abode was quiet.

Several seconds later, the woman finally turned her head and looked at Grey.

Grey could finally see her face clearly.

She was the middle-aged woman who had suddenly taken him up into the sky before.

Recognition flashed through Grey’s eyes.

He couldn’t help but bend his back and bow slightly as a sign of respect.

She was an elder of the sect, and not an ordinary one at that.

She was a Sequence Elder.

"Very respectful, unlike someone else."

The woman spoke coldly.

As she said this, her eyes shot past Grey and landed outside the cave abode, on the platform where the statues and the two pillars stood.

Grey’s expression remained calm.

"Disciple answers your summoning."

He spoke respectfully while remaining slightly bowed.

He didn’t even look up to see her face.

Several seconds passed.

The middle-aged woman finally sighed.

"My disciple has run into some trouble. I need you to follow her and get rid of it."

Grey’s eyebrows twitched slightly.

"I did not want to call you before. But based on the fact that you seem to have some sort of relationship with her, I decided that this should be good for both of you."

The woman said this coldly, especially when she spoke about the relationship between Grey and her disciple.

A low buzzing sound couldn’t help but ring in Grey’s ears.

Grey’s expression remained unchanged, but inwardly, he couldn’t help but feel somewhat speechless.

What relationship?

He and Violet barely had any relationship at all.

"But..."

Grey wanted to speak, but hesitated.

This was completely outside of his expectations.

He had thought that the elder had summoned him because of some important matter concerning the sect. He had never expected that she would suddenly ask him to follow her disciple and deal with whatever trouble she had encountered.

Most importantly, Grey didn’t want to become a bodyguard for some pampered girl.

He had other important things to do.

His own cultivation was already progressing rapidly, and there were still many matters that required his attention. He didn’t have the time to follow someone around and clean up their troubles.

As if she could hear the reluctance in his voice, the middle-aged woman suddenly snorted coldly.

"You should be grateful that I chose not to pursue the matter any further."

Grey’s body immediately stiffened slightly.

The woman’s cold gaze fell upon him.

"Even your master wouldn’t be able to save you from my punishment."

The moment those words fell, Grey’s expression became slightly solemn.

He didn’t doubt her words.

After all, he had personally experienced how terrifying this woman was.

The last time they had met, she had taken him into the sky with ease, and Grey had been completely powerless to resist.

If she truly decided to punish him, he had no doubt that it would be an extremely unpleasant experience.

Grey remained silent for a moment.

He suddenly felt that this entire situation was becoming troublesome.

Who would have thought that the moment he arrived at this place, he would be ordered to follow her again?

Grey sighed inwardly.

It seemed that he had no choice but to accept.

Still, there was something that bothered him.

Why had this woman specifically chosen him?

Was it really because she believed that he and her disciple had some sort of relationship?

Or was there another reason behind her decision?

Grey’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Regardless of the answer, he had a feeling that this matter wouldn’t be as simple as the woman had made it sound.
