Chapter 1576 - 580: Law Heavenly Eye

Three clouds of different colors represented the wills of the Three Heavenly Venerables.

And within Lotus Mountain, the Witch God had long since arrived; therefore, there was no black cloud hanging down to represent him.

From a certain perspective, this was the gathering of the Four Great Heavenly Venerables of Jing Country.

Why had the Four Heavenly Venerables gathered?

The Witch God of course saw it as clearly as a polished mirror—back when Jing Country derived its nine Laws, each and every Law required the consent of the Four Great Heavenly Venerables.

Only by passing through the will of the Heavenly Venerables could this new Law be born.

"The Young Master has comprehended the tenth Law of Jing Country."

The Witch God gazed up at the layered clouds filling the sky.

The three boundless cumulus clouds, once blended together, grew richer in color; for a time they displayed a purplish-brown hue, and before long, they shifted into a cyan-gold.

The colors kept changing, setting off the land of Lotus Temple in a blaze of myriad hues.

Everyone in the temple was stunned.

The Eternal Life Sect Leader and the others all tilted their heads back, staring fixedly at the heavens.

The Golden Body Slave was anxious at heart as well.

As a slave who had once followed the Ancient Buddha, he naturally knew what the appearance of these three clouds signified.

In those years when the Ancient Buddha spread the Dao and preached the Dharma, he had nine times gathered together with the Tao Ancestor, the Witch God, and the Blood Well, and for this vast Heaven and Earth of Jing Country, set down the Laws.

The Golden Body Slave, being the Ancient Buddha’s personal attendant, had of course appeared at such occasions.

He immediately cried out in bitter anguish, "The tenth Law of Jing Country is about to be born."

From where would this Law be born?

The Golden Body Slave did not need to speculate much to know that this new Law originated from Zhou Xuan within the Fire Lotus.

"That Zhou Xuan actually managed to comprehend the Dao within my Red Lotus?"

He ground his teeth in hatred.

The other four slaves also looked at one another; in their eyes, this Zhou Xuan was simply like some kind of demon—

The Ancient Buddha Red Lotus could burn all things under heaven, and could also refine every Heavenly Material and Earthly Treasure in Heaven and Earth, so how could it just happen to be helpless against a single Zhou Xuan?

Even if it could not deal with him, that would be one thing; but instead, it actually let this brat, in the midst of that seething furnace of crimson flames, comprehend the True Scripture.

"Master, if the five of us exert our strength together, we must refine Zhou Xuan to death before the tenth Law is born."

So long as Zhou Xuan died, the tenth Law would not be able to come into being.

Things of this sort were not unheard of in the past.

"Brothers, bolster the flames and refine that Zhou Xuan to death."

At the Golden Body Slave’s fury, the Ancient Buddha Mirror Image was likewise wrapped entirely in raging fire, and the karmic flames of that Red Lotus instantly grew countless times more ferocious.

...

"They’ve cranked up the fire again, have they?"

Zhou Xuan could not help letting out a cold laugh.

Standing within the Red Lotus was like entering a room filled with fragrant orchids; hands clasped behind his back, he strolled about as though touring a garden.

This air of ease and composure was truly not something Zhou Xuan was putting on; he really did not feel all that much pain.

Or rather, compared to the earlier minor karmic flames of the Red Lotus, this blaze that could burn away the Heavenly Dome had instead weakened the intensity of the fire within the lotus.

"Alas, a mirror image of the Ancient Buddha is just a mirror image, and not the true Ancient Buddha."

Zhou Xuan could not help looking down on the Five Great Buddhist Slaves.

Joining him in scorning the Five Great Buddhist Slaves was Alchemist Bai Lu.

He had taken on the form of an ancient book, flitting back and forth within Zhou Xuan’s Secret Realm, continuously finding fault.

"The Ancient Buddha once consulted the Tao Ancestor about the art of Alchemy; he must have delved quite deeply into the Alchemy Technique as well.

Yet these Buddhist slaves do not understand Alchemy in the least. In using this Red Lotus for Alchemy, the fire must not be too strong—if it is too strong, the flame becomes light and insubstantial, drifting upward, and the heat cannot be transmitted onto the Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures within the furnace.

They presumptuously heap on more fire, wishing to quickly refine Mr. to death, but do they not know the principle that ’more haste, less speed’?"

"They have cultivated for such long ages, yet do not know what constitutes a worthy fruition.

They have personally attended upon the Ancient Buddha for so long, yet do not understand what the Alchemy Dao is; the Five Great Buddhist Slaves are mediocrities."

As the Five Great Buddhist Slaves frantically fed the fire, the interior of the Red Lotus split into an upper and lower layer.

From the waist of the lotus to its tip, firelight filled the sky, the flames blazing a searing white.

But from the lotus waist down to its base, there was almost no flame at all, only the heat conducted downward from the upper layer of fire.

The speed at which the Erlang’s infantry within Zhou Xuan’s body were refined out had already clearly slowed, which instead afforded him more time to wait.

As the Fire Lotus accelerated its burning,

the ground of Lotus Temple became shrouded in a layer of black qi, black as ink, within which shifting patterns unfolded like scenes from an ink painting.

Only when the black qi rose up and fused with the blood-colored cloud, golden cloud, and purple cloud did the Eternal Life Sect Leader and the others finally understand.

The Eternal Life Sect Leader was at first stunned rigid by what he beheld; only then did his brows relax slightly, as he turned to the Green Robed Buddha and Tiancan Monk and said, "Old Buddha, baldy Tiancan, is this... is this... the tenth Law about to be born?"

His voice grew quieter as he spoke, and especially by the last half, it had become extremely faint, as if he were afraid of startling the ones above the heavens.

The Green Robed Buddha nodded gloomily and said, "I too once heard the Palace Master say: if a new Law is born in the human world, four clouds will rise, each of a different color.

This is the most wondrous celestial portent of Jing Country."

"Some Ancient Gods live for two thousand years and may never see such a spectacle even once."

Tiancan Monk could not help becoming entranced as he said, "An entirely new Law... As expected of Master Zhou; he is the brightest star in the cultivation world of Jing Country."

Yun Ziliang also could not help speaking in delight, "I’ve long said this—given Xuanzi’s cultivation talent, if he only attained God-level, that would truly be disgraceful, utterly lacking in promise. And sure enough... with a new Law born, so long as Xuanzi passes the nine sticks of incense, he can achieve the Heavenly God Level."
