Chapter 1218 - 527: Bloody Battle at Sharp-Top Palace
The comet falling from the sky drew a long trail, heading straight for Mathew Bade and the others. The comet, with a diameter of more than ten meters, was filled with energy. Mogiana extended a hand to control the power of the comet: "Viper of Musillon, today is your death day!"
However, the Undead did not choose to sit and wait for their doom. Several Vampire Lords began chanting Death Magic spells together.
"Death Wind!" A dense mist of death swept across the ground of the Sharp-Top Palace, causing trees to wither, the dead to rise, and ghostly winds to sweep across the battlefield. Against the Death Wind's resistance, the Potion Chalice Comet's descent slowed.
Mogiana's Great Celestial Magic clashed with the Death Wind summoned by the Vampire Lords. The sky-blue Magic Wind and the black-red Magic Wind squeezed, collided, tore, and twisted until they disappeared.
Without Witch Demon King Akhan overseeing, Musillon's Undead Mages were no match for the Lake God Witch. The Potion Chalice Comet tore through the Death Wind and crashed to the ground. The earth trembled, and explosions of light, flame, and magic engulfed the main body of the Undead Army. The explosive blast wave swept over Mathew Bade and the others.
In the mushroom cloud-shaped smoke, the Potion Chalice Comet completed its mission.
Mogiana, however, felt disappointed because the comet she summoned did not hit Mathew Bade. Taking advantage of the collision between the Death Wind and the Potion Chalice Comet, Mathew Bade had already led his men to dodge this strike. He personally led the Black Chalice Knights, Blood Knights, and Black Knights charging toward the castle walls.
The Potion Chalice's color instantly turned purple. Mogiana summoned a large poison mist, enveloping Mathew Bade and his men. However, the poison mist had limited damage to the Vampires and the Undead. Mathew Bade, leading a force of over a hundred elite troops, gradually approached the castle walls.
"Fire! Open fire on those people! Fire! Do not spare the bullets!" Sir Bertrand shouted forcefully from the walls, pointing to Mathew Bade and the others: "Open fire on them!"
The Dwarf Musketeers and Human Musketeers almost all turned their guns, and wave after wave of bullets engulfed Mathew Bade and his men. From within the smoke came the sound of bullets clashing against armor, ringing densely like a continuous roar.
"Did it succeed?" Bertrand inhaled deeply, his eyes fixed intently on the depths of the smoke.
The truth disappointed him; this round of volleys only took out a few Black Knights. Facing the Blood Knights and the Black Chalice Knights with their sturdy Cursed Plate Armor, even the Dwarven muskets couldn't penetrate their defenses.
And now they were upon us!
"Lift!" A Blood Knight directly grabbed the top of the scaling ladder, commanding the Skeleton Warriors and Desolate Tomb Guards to flip the ladder over! The tall scaling ladder spun a full circle and then was set against the castle wall. This Blood Knight, wearing a Blood Dragon Helmet and Red Spike Plate Armor, roared as he landed on the wall, cleaving a Human Musketeer in half with one swing: "For Alboim Wallace! For the Blood Dragon! For glory!"
"Ahhh!" Two nearby Halberdiers rushed up immediately, and the Blood Knight sneered, slicing one Halberdier along with his halberd in half, then easily turned to decapitate the other. With one sweep, he cut down the cannon mount set on the wall: "Come on! Human scum! Let me see your strength!"
"Then let's go!" A Ranger Knight from the Kakasong Duchy charged at this Blood Knight. His Knight's Sword clashed with the sharp Longsword of the Blood Knight. The Blood Knight sneered, twisting his blade to toss the young Ranger Knight aside, then pierced his chest with one thrust, blood and flesh splattering, blood shining everywhere.
Watching the Ranger Knight fall from the wall with a scream, the Blood Knight felt consumed by the madness of fighting for the Blood Dragon Ancestor: "Not enough, not enough!!! Bring someone stronger!"
With his actions, more Blood Knights and Black Chalice Knights charged up the walls using this tactic. In an instant, the walls were filled with sounds of slaughter; ordinary Human soldiers and Archers were no match for the Blood Knights and Black Chalice Knights. The defenders soon suffered heavy casualties, Dwarf Musketeers and Dwarf Rangers were massacred one after another. With the Blood Knights personally clearing the way, the Undead Army formed several black lines slowly climbing the walls.
Artillery couldn't be fired; even the Dwarf Engineers and Peasant Archers raised weapons to fight the Undead. The Ranger Knights and Kingdom Knights rushed to aid wherever they could, as only they could stand against the Blood Knights.
A lone Blood Knight soon found himself besieged by five or six Brittania Knights. He fought valiantly against this group of knights until a Holy Grail Knight finally appeared amidst the calls. The Blood Knight and the Holy Grail Knight engaged in a champion duel, ultimately meeting his end under the Knight's Sword radiating the Light of the Lake God.
However, the ladder was already up, and the Undead Army continued to ascend the walls.
"Whoosh!" An arrow imbued with the Power of Starfire arced through the sky, piercing directly into the eye socket of a Blood Knight. The Blood Knight clutched his face and screamed in agony, as the Power of Starfire burned his eye socket.
Drawing another arrow from the quiver behind him, Bertrand tightened the bowstring, focusing on the scaling ladder below the walls, and released the bowstring with a slight quiver.
A Star Fire Arrow swept across the battlefield, striking the seam between the pauldrons and chest armor of a Desolate Tomb Guard holding the ladder. Shot through, the guard gave a silent roar, taking a few steps back before collapsing to the ground. The tall scaling ladder also fell as a result, crushing at least a hundred Undead beneath it.
