We Live in Dragon’s Peak
At the foot of Dragon Peak
Coming from the back of the head, Mistral's body temperature feels good. With her knee pillow on, she snatches consciousness so that her debilitated body falls into her dreams as she is rocked by Lily's back.
"I will not allow you to go to sleep yet. Stay conscious for a while."
But the Demon King of the Titans looks down upon me like that, and commands me mercilessly.
Mistral gave me a gaze of protest, but I didn't get through to the giant demon king.
Me, Mistral and the Titan Demon King are Lily's backs. Soon after everyone else rode on Revaria's back and flew from the ruling Demon King Castle of Kushalilla in the north. The red sunset set in the western sky, and the night was also visiting the kingdom of the demons.
The moon glows pale on the third moon. A starry sky full of heaven is gleaming in the darkness of a cold night.
Not as brilliant as the starry sky I saw on Dragon Peak, which seemed to shine beyond my reach, but similar to the night sky I had been watching since I was a little girl in the kingdom of Armuad.
West and east across Dragon Peak. It feels like a small distance if you travel on a Revaria or Niemia, but it's actually very far away. The more you travel on foot, the more days it's going to take, the further apart you are.
And each area dominated by a completely different race: the people and the demons.
But I'm looking up at a very similar sky now.
Old Sleighsta said he traveled around the world when he was young.
I still can't feel the breadth of the world. But looking up at the same sky in a different place so far away, I guess the world is still connected.
You're supposed to be flying at high speeds, but a slow flowing view of the sky.
Unlike the sky, the ground, where the night book descends, flows at a speed that is not even noticeable.
The kingdom ruled by the demon king Kushalillah flourished in the same way as the kingdom of the giant demon king.
At night the darkness is spreading, and of course there are many places that cannot be seen. But the lights dot along the streets, and towns, villages, and large cities are lit by dazzling lights.
There were also many demons operating at night, and in the land of the demons, where darkness spread, the shadows of the demons were just as hidden throughout the city and in the sky as during the day.
I wonder if my eyes work at night. As well as during the day, the winged demons who witnessed Lily and Levaria escape as they ascend into the sky.
A starry sky that gives you a sense of silence that doesn't seem like a demonic country. A land far more prosperous than a nation of people, flowing at high speeds beneath its eyes. Winged demons who go up to the sky as if they remember.
With such a view, Lily and Levary keep everyone on board and fly north.
While I desperately maintain my diminishing consciousness, I wait to reach the land of the Forbidden Land indicated by the Titan Demon King.
Then, as he proceeded north, the light that was dotted under his eyes began to become scarce. Then, gradually, the darkened nature of the mountain wilderness begins to spread.
I wonder if it extends from Dragon Peak. It crosses several rivers, crosses low mountains and valleys, and straddles the meadows.
"Not long. Lily, slow down."
"Huh."
Lily, as she was told, slows down the flight. In the rear Levaria also slowed down and looked around intriguingly.
In the landscape of the surface, awareness already existed, and not a single light of the population existed.
This is a forbidden place?
Or is it forbidden?
Did the Titan Demon King read my thoughts or look around and look down at me lying on my knee pillow by Mistral.
"It's not a forbidden territory yet. Embargo is the realm of the Demon Nation not controlled by the Demon King."
I mean, what do you mean?
I don't know. It's a dominant area, but an uncontrolled place?
"We demons are ruled by demon kings over each region. But all of it belongs to the best of you."
Yes, it was. The Demon Clan has a superior presence than the Demon King, doesn't it?
"Seven demon kings now control their respective countries. But there are many places where demons live where rulers do not exist. In the past, there were eleven demon kings."
Are you saying that as the number of demon kings has decreased, many areas have been created where rulers do not exist?
"The country that lost the Demon King is rough. The only way to be chosen as the next Demon King is to stand out."
Remarkable...... I guess that area means it will storm like a demon.
"Well, the last few hundred years or so. No new demon king has been chosen."
Even though it is prominently rampant, the next demon king will not be chosen. I wonder if the country that lost the Demon King is quite devastated.
The conversation between the Titan's Demon King and my thoughts continues. But the penetration of "don't you two have a conversation I don't understand," like when Sleighsta was old, doesn't fly out of the Mistral.
Maybe you're leaving this place to me.
Mental situation where consciousness is about to fly if you lose your mind. Speaking out can also remain conscious in a billion-dollar state, because this is how I desperately think.
I guess Mistral cares about me in a situation where I have no choice but to obey the orders of the giant Demon King to stay unconscious.
"The Demon King is given some authority"
Yeah, well, how does it connect to the description of the embargo? I can't really grasp the flow of the story. My confusion, the Demon King keeps talking.
"One, of course, is the right to control freely a given country. Next, the right to invade another country. Other nations include the kingdoms of other demon kings, in addition to other races such as people and gods"
I mean, we rule a country where demon kings are given in the presence of superiors, but we can invade each other, I guess.
I knew you were a demon. I can't believe you're approving a feud over your own blood.
"Huh. People and people, they're in the same race, they're taking over the country. In the west, the power map of a nation often changes."
If the demon king of the giant tells you that, there is no standing.
The kingdoms of Armuad and Jortenitos are a nation of people, but there are no other nations of people around them. Let me tell you, it's an enclave in a country dominated by people.
Areas where there are many people living and dominating are more west of the countries ruled by the Demons, right?
And are there temple cities ruled by the Witch King?
"I don't care about the area. The point is, with or without the presence of a ruler, the Demon King is free to wage war and extend his territory. But..."
The demon king of the giant drops his gaze in his own hands.
"People may not know, but the Demons have an inherent species called the True Ancestors"
Oh, I know. Even stories written by people are portrayed as powerful demons.
True ancestors. Or the Initial Clan.
People resent tragic wars and land with massive plagues and disasters. The resentment takes many years and gradually gathers to create a dark temper. And the demons who are born to feed on that temper. That's true ancestry.
No parent, no family, beginnings being. The only demon tribe.
Due to the intensity of the food, it is said that the True Ancestors are born with much knowledge and immense power.
"The True Ancestors are evil because they have no body or smudges. Some annoying people follow the devil's instincts right after birth."
Well, that's tough. When a demonic clan with immense power breaks out without sight, it will cause immense damage.
"Exactly. Even though they are demons, don't bother if they can get rammed as they please. We the demon kings and the superiors who are entrusted with the kingdom"
Indeed. The area without the Demon King may be rough, but at least there is order in the country where the Demon King is ruling. When the guy who rambles there comes, it's just annoying, right?
"So the superior one, when the true ancestor is born, seals it in the duke, gives it territory and holds it down"
But Luilala's parents were his true ancestors. Luilara is a Viscount because her parents are her true ancestors, right?
"In other words, you give the taste to the true ancestors and rule them for convenience. Whatever you do in the territory you give, you are free because the rulers will be true ancestors."
Whether you destroy territory or prosper, you mean freedom because it's your own land. That resembles a demon king.
"Yes. The dominant area is only narrower than the Demon King, and the authority is close. Well, I don't have the right to invade or anything. And if you obey the lives of your superiors, they will kill you no matter how many true ancestors you have."
I see. The true ancestors who were born put under as much control as possible. But if they don't listen, I'll get rid of them because they're in the way. True ancestors, too, might as well live in the status and territory they were given without freedom if they were to be killed.
… and if you don't want to kill your true ancestors, who is the superior?
But the trouble is...
The Titan Demon King looks at me again.
"The Demon King ruled all the regions, and the land he would give to his true ancestors would be gone"
Oh, well. If the territory isn't empty, I can't even give it to you. If you collect from the Demon King, you don't feel well that they're going to take the land that made you prosper because of it.
"So, in the first place, there are a few predetermined territories that even the Demon King cannot invade"
"Maybe that's the embargo?
Yes. And the giant demon king nodded.
"Well, the place I'm going to show you isn't even a normal no-go."
"Isn't that normal?
"Yes, demons, it is strictly forbidden to enter, and no matter how powerful the true ancestors, it is a land that cannot be chosen. Look, I see it."
Encouraged by the demon king of the giant, we turn our gaze around.
Lily seemed to be slowly moving through the sky while me and the giant Demon King were interacting.
Under the instantly beautiful sky of the stars. Still stained in the darkness of the night, there was a spectacular view that enchanted the eyes and the heart.
Soon, there are dragon peaks on the east side. And to the west, one large mountain with a wide hemline shows the outline.
Earth cut east and west of the starry sky. There was another starry sky on the surface that ran north and everywhere.
From under his eyes he headed north, dotted with countless lakes, large and small. Surfaces of the lake surrounded by native forests, even from the darkness of the night, reflect the starry sky over it as it is.
Whenever the water shakes in the wind, another starry sky reflected blinks like a gem.
It wasn't just me but Mistral was breathtaking and enthralled by the unimaginable night scene.
"Mistral, let us give this land to them. Spiritual Mountain to the west. All the land in the flatlands is a thousand lakes that run all the way up to the northern sea."
"Yes, no, no!?
It was Mistral who gave him a barbaric voice.
I don't know what that means, either, mayhem.
How much, what do you mean?
Embargo means the place where the presence above the Demon King reigns, doesn't it?
You're securing it to give to True Ancestor or something, right?
And yet, at the discretion of the demon king of the giant, you give it to the Mistral of the Dragon Men, not the true ancestors or the Demons?
also, could......
Are you saying that to the too much strength of Mistral, I will seal it in the Duke of the Demon Nation and rule it!
Seeing me confused and the mistral that makes my eyes black and white, the demon king of the giant giggles.
"Kuku. He's a flying thinker. Relieved but good. I'm not trying to take a mistral in. Don't worry about the reason, take it honestly. Refusal is unacceptable."
Out! A young unmanned order. No matter who they are, they are just demonic king-like words and deeds that push selfish conveniences without veto rights.
But the giant demon king was staring at Mistral with a gentle smile, not threatening him with horrible signs.
"Come on, the long journey is over. Lily, I have a better place to be a little further. Land there."
"I'm tired and tired."
Lily flied purposefully and lastly winged toward the spot indicated by the Titan's Demon King.
