Chapter 450: Spectacular Snow Mountain Scene

"This isn’t right..." murmured Honglian.

This was also the thought of most people in the spaceship.

Mountains are the result of crustal compression, and there should always be a slope trend, from low to high, then from high to low, thus forming a continuous ridge line.

However, there is no sign of this with Kunlun Mountain.

It’s simply too high; if you drew a ridge line following the direction of the mountains below, you’d almost certainly flatten the Six Kingdoms.

From a distance, this odd feeling wasn’t there because the mountains hadn’t appeared yet; you could only see the peaks floating in the sky. But now, with the massive mountains emerging from the sea of clouds, things seemed off.

This towering mountain seems disconnected from the Earth; there’s a clear separation from the continent of the Six Kingdoms.

It’s as if it didn’t grow out from the ground but rather emerged from the sea of clouds.

This is the only way to explain why a majestic ridge line is invisible from the ground.

"What’s our current altitude?" asked Chen Xuan.

"Above ground level, 12,076 meters," the AI responded.

Even at this altitude, they still had to look up at Kunlun Peak. The snow-covered summit seemed like the end of the sky.

How tall is Kunlun Mountain? Twenty thousand meters?

"How did you come down from the mountain then?" Lin Qing turned back, scrutinizing Liu Shuyue with eyes full of wonder.

"I... never climbed this mountain..." Liu Shuyue hesitated.

"Huh?" Everyone was taken aback, "Never climbed it?"

"I don’t remember clearly... The summit was indeed covered in snow, with the sea of clouds below. The Sect was surrounded by high walls, and after coming out, you follow a path downwards. In less than half a two-hour period, you can emerge from the sea of clouds and see the road leading to the foot of the mountain..." she struggled to recall, "If I didn’t stop along the way, I could descend in one day."

"Only one day?" Honglian exclaimed in surprise, "I think even given a year, I might not be able to make it out of the mountains."

"Perhaps... it was due to using spells?" Elorie speculated, "Like an Immortal Technique that can instantly shrink ground distance."

"You’re talking about the Life and Death Eight Gates, aren’t you? Its chosen landing point is random and can’t be used as Shrinking Earth Skill," Liu Shuyue shook her head, "Actually, no spell was used back then. It was my first time leaving the Sect; I was both excited and nervous and wasn’t in a rush to travel, so I completely walked down using my legs."

Chen Xuan remained silent, involuntarily recalling the "Mountain Gate" seen by Liu Zhidong.

It was a profound blue door, standing abruptly at the edge of a cliff, with neither courtyard walls nor Sect buildings behind.

Does each disciple see Lotus Cloud Sect differently?

"Look at those purple smoke," Lin Qing suddenly pointed out, "They seem to be cascading down from the summit."

Just as she mentioned, the mist poured like waterfalls along the steep mountain wall. But at higher altitudes, it hadn’t dispersed, appearing thin like strands of thread, not clear enough until halfway down when it gradually spread out, forming a misty layer.

"What does this smoke signify?" Honglian asked.

No one could answer.

If Lotus Cloud Sect is situated on Kunlun Peak, and the purple smoke is cascading from the summit, then the answer is surely not optimistic.

Chen Xuan returned to the captain’s seat, pushing the altitude control lever to let Wind Song ascend again.

Suddenly, a fierce wind arose all around. The originally clear sky turned dark, with snow and hail violently pounding on the spaceship, the crashing sound even reaching the cockpit.

"Has the weather suddenly changed?" everyone was startled.

"Don’t panic, it’s the Sect Array," Liu Shuyue stated solemnly, "The flow of Spiritual Qi has been altered; it is very difficult to use any spells here."

"Forbidden Area, it seems we’ve found the right place," Chen Xuan paused, then asked the AI, "Does this weather pose a danger to the spaceship?"

"With manual operation, there is a small probability of a crash. Suggest switching to Level 5 assisted driving, bringing crash probability to zero."

"Without a map, how can I set a course?"

"Map drawing ... drawing complete."

With the AI’s voice, a 3D map of the mountain appeared on the large screen... Its contour wasn’t complete and seemed to be constantly changing, likely being updated in real-time.

"You’re pretty impressive," Honglian sincerely praised.

"The evaluation has been recorded and will be automatically fed back to the manufacturing unit during maintenance," a synthetic voice replied smoothly.

Chen Xuan switched the gear to Level 5, equivalent to the AI taking full control of Wind Song’s driving system. He only needed to set the desired location on the map.

Ten minutes later, the outside wind grew more fierce; the mountain had completely disappeared from view, revealed only briefly illumination by the golden lightning within the dense clouds. But Wind Song stood firmly in the storm, seemingly unaffected.

"You truly chose correctly," Lin Qing pressed against the seat back, slightly tense as she spoke, "If this were a helicopter, we would’ve fallen long ago."

"After all, it’s a spaceship," Chen Xuan swallowed nervously.

Though he spoke calmly, he was rather unsettled inside—if anything goes wrong, falling from such a height would crush even a deity.

"Wind Song’s shell is equipped with tens of millions of nanoworms’ memory cells, capable of repairing minor damage in a tenth of a second, can withstand a direct hit from a 155mm artillery shell, and four engines support omnidirectional maneuverability, with a high probability of survival even if it hits the mountain," AI proactively reassured everyone.

"How far are we from the peak?"

"4593 meters; landing site selection in progress."

"Is this scan accurate?" Lin Qing stared at the screen, "Why is the mountaintop so bare, with nothing on it?"

"The resolution of the terrain radar is in centimeter levels, there might be some discrepancy."

Honglian furrowed her brow, "That makes sense; Lotus Cloud Sect can’t possibly be as small as a fingernail, right?"

"What do you mean?" Liu Shuyue asked in confusion.

"I mean... there’s no man-made structure on the mountain, it’s just purely a mountain," Chen Xuan whispered.

"How can this be?" She looked surprised.

"Location selected, initiating landing procedure... Please remain seated." The AI’s voice interrupted the conversation.

Accompanied by a series of vibrations, the screen filled with snowflakes, evidently stirred by the engines’ outlets flipping downward.

"Landing successful," the spaceship alerted.

Everyone exchanged glances.

They had successfully reached this astounding mountain, but there seemed to be no trace of Lotus Cloud Sect on the summit. Outside, the cold wind still howled and the snow showed no sign of stopping. Even with the ship’s floodlights at the maximum, they only illuminated a hundred meters ahead, and through the screen, the surroundings were sheer snow, seemingly fused with the somber sky.

"Now that we’re here, let’s go take a look," Chen Xuan broke the silence, "Two people can stay on the ship."

Finally, Little Angel and Liuli were tasked with guarding the spaceship.

The others gathered in the passage cabin, waiting for the ship to open its doors.

But the moment the airtight doors swung open, all five were stunned!

Outside, there was no gusting wind or snow; the sun hung high in a blue sky, illuminating the snow-covered rocks on the mountain into brilliant gleaming. In the distance lay beautiful sea clouds, where soft, white layers stretched endlessly at a glance. And beneath their feet, this mountain was enclosed at the heart of the sea clouds, like a solitary island isolated in the world.
