Chapter 348 - 201: Drawing a Gun
The battle was over.
All the Dragon Devourer Cultists had been incinerated by Baron’s flames.
All the Dragon Descendants led by the Gale Dragons were sent fleeing by Baron’s Golden Eye.
The plaza was littered with corpses, filled only with the strange stench of flesh burning in the flames.
A lone figure stood silently amid the sea of fire. All the Trial Takers and Dragon Guides surrounding the plaza stared at him with stunned, almost dazed expressions, as if they had seen a ghost.
More accurately, they were staring at the emptiness that surrounded him.
In that spot, the dark swarm of enemies that had been charging him had been instantly engulfed by the flames.
Nothing. Absolutely nothing remained.
Even the heavy rain couldn’t douse the fire, yet the fire couldn’t conceal that pair of gleaming Golden Eyes.
’This guy... He’s terrifyingly ruthless.’
Gaze after gaze converged on that pair of Golden Eyes. A chill shot up from the soles of their feet to the crowns of their heads, making their skin crawl and their scalps tingle with fear.
’Reinforcements haven’t arrived. I probably can’t beat him. I’ll have to wait for another chance.’
Dewey and Gold, who had originally planned to team up with the other Law Enforcers to arrest Yan Nan, changed their minds the moment they witnessed this scene.
Among the Dragon Devourer Cultists, several who could Transform into a Dragon were at the Bronze Tier. The attacking Dragon Descendants also included many Fifth Generation Species, and even some Fourth Generation Species.
But it took only a single clash. Just one.
The Dragon Devourer Cultists who had Transformed into a Dragon were incinerated the moment they came into contact with the man’s flames.
As for the Dragon Descendants, they were scared shitless by his Golden Eye and fled in a terrified panic before they could even get close!
From the instantaneous surge of the man’s Spiritual Pressure, everyone could tell that his Tier was Bronze, not Silver. This meant he was on the same level as the opponents who had besieged him.
And yet, of all these opponents at the same Tier, not a single one had lasted more than a single exchange with him!
The might of a Dragon Knight was truly terrifying!
’A man like that... was he really just a Bloodless whose engagement was broken in the past!?’
’Was he just pretending to be weak all along!?’
At this thought, everyone present secretly glanced toward the blonde girl clutching a Magic Staff—the princess of the Lancelot family, the very person who had broken off the engagement with him all those years ago.
Her ex-fiancé was a Lawbreaker now, but judging by the power he had just displayed...
Honestly, both the Trial Takers at the scene and the Law Enforcers watching from projection screens outside the mountains felt the same way. Although Jill Hestia, the vice-commander of the Griffin Knight Order, was a long-time veteran of the Bronze Tier, based on the combat prowess she’d shown, she might not actually be able to defeat Constantine.
Even some of the attractive young women and graceful ladies watching from outside the mountains blushed as they saw the man’s figure on the screen, sighing to themselves. ’That face, that physique, that power... It’s a shame he’s a Lawbreaker... No, wait, who cares if he’s a Lawbreaker!’
The usually cold and arrogant Freya noticed their gazes and knew exactly what they were thinking. She bit her lip and let out a cold snort.
’Baron Constantin is my brother’s killer. It doesn’t matter how powerful he’s become or how outstanding he seems now.’
’His only identity is the enemy who killed my brother!’
Meanwhile, Lucy nudged Pound—Baron’s nominal cousin—with her elbow.
"Hey," she said. "I heard you were going to get revenge for that Soron fellow. He just finished a huge battle, so his Spiritual Power should be nearly depleted. Want to go up and give it a shot?"
Pound, initially annoyed by the jab, froze when he heard her words. He glanced toward the plaza where Constantine stood under the watchful eyes of the crowd, his Golden Eye still glowing as if to intimidate the Gale Dragons outside the square. Pound’s face stiffened, and cold sweat instantly beaded on his forehead.
"Um... well..."
He stammered, which, in plain English, meant: ’Me, fight Baron? You’ve got to be kidding me.’
Seeing her brother’s predicament, Windsor quickly stepped in to defend him. "Miss Lucy, please don’t joke like that. My brother is a Wizard, and Mr. Baron is a Dragon Knight. Besides, he’s a whole Tier higher than my brother. It’s not a fair comparison, no matter how you look at it."
’Baron is Master Jack, the one who saved me. And he’s also the one who danced with me at the banquet.’
Being a girl, Windsor was far more perceptive than her brother. She had immediately noticed a few clues from Baron’s posture and the look in his eyes beneath his mask.
"Oh?" Lucy nodded, then abruptly turned her attack on Windsor. "Why do you call Baron ’Mister’? By rights, even if he’s a Lawbreaker, he’s still your cousin, isn’t he?"
"Umm..."
Lucy’s sudden question caught Windsor completely off guard.
Why was that? Windsor herself wasn’t sure.
Her mind had been a complete blur ever since Baron appeared.
The only clear memory she had was of him rescuing her as a child from the place where the Silver Lion was caged in the Lake Castle.
In truth, it shouldn’t have been a big deal. That day was just a prank by her eldest and second-eldest brothers; if the Silver Lion had actually attacked her, they surely would have rushed out to save her.
But then Windsor suddenly recalled the banquet, remembering the image of the mysterious emissary from Westminster Cathedral rescuing her from that awkward and targeted predicament.
"It’s... It’s because..." Windsor stammered, her face flushing red.
"It’s because Windsor and Baron Constantin barely know each other, so it’s perfectly normal. Lucy, stop messing around," her brother Denero said, suddenly appearing at her side.
Lucy let out a frustrated "Gah!" but said nothing more, turning to look at the Dragon Guides on the other side.
Elsewhere, two Silver Dragon Guides watched the Subspecies Gale Dragons at the edge of the field. The beasts were restless and anxious, yet they didn’t dare to advance. The sight made the Dragon Guides’ eyes twitch.
