Chapter 344 - 199: The Dragon Knight Returns
Let alone the two young masters of the Beowulf Family, even the two highly-paid Silver Dragon Guides, who had been frustrated at every turn, were dumbfounded. The eyes behind their masks nearly bulged out of their sockets.
The Daoist Nun Lucy, who was performing a divination, stopped what she was doing at the sight. For the first time, an expression of pure stupor appeared on the cold, sharp-as-a-blade face of her older sister, Isabella, though she quickly reigned it in.
As for the other Trial Takers and Dragon Guides, it was as if "The world has gone mad" was written all over their faces.
’No... that can’t be right... Isn’t Golden Dragon Guide just a job title? Then why is this Master Jack acting like a true Gold!?’
"Why...?"
Norton spat out a mouthful of blood. Numb from his injuries, he stared intently at the approaching Master Jack. "What did you do to my body... Why can’t I control my own blood...?"
"Why do you... have Dragon Flame... You’re definitely no ordinary Dragon Guide. Who are you...?"
Master Jack remained silent. He simply touched Norton’s face, as if confirming something. Then, he drew the Scale-Stripping Saber from his waist, cut the D Level Taboo Item known as the Disguiser’s Hide off Norton’s face, and secured it in his Holding Ring.
Only then did everyone see Norton’s true face.
He was a young man with rather clean-cut features, but nowhere near as handsome as the face of Baron he had been wearing.
"This... He’s a fake Constantine..."
"It seems so... Is that his real face...?"
"But why would a Dragon Devourer Cultist use Constantine’s face... Was it to frame that Bloodless?"
The group of Trial Takers had a sudden realization.
Outside the mountain range, the assembled Law Enforcers also came to a sudden realization.
The Constantine Family Head immediately bellowed, "This was a premeditated plot to frame the Constantine Family!"
This time, neither the Frank Family Head, the Hestia Family’s Elder, nor the Lancelot Patriarch spoke up to refute him.
They were clearly shaken by the shocking turn of events.
"He’s not Baron Constantin at all!" At that moment in the plaza, Pound pointed at Norton and yelled, "He’s an imposter! This is a conspiracy! A conspiracy against the Constantine Family!!!"
He failed to notice that as he spoke, Roy’s expression darkened, and his hand tightened its grip on his long spear.
Hearing Pound’s words, Baron, who knew what was coming next, gave a slight smirk. He turned to Norton and said, "When the false is taken for the true, the true becomes false."
Norton’s eyes widened in realization, but before he could speak, blood surged up and choked him. He couldn’t get a single word out, only gurgle and struggle on the ground like a carp flopping on the shore.
Master Jack watched, the Blood Eye beneath his mask dimming slightly. He let out a weary internal sigh.
’Talk about a stroke of bizarre luck. First the crash, then landing right in Dragon Spear Plaza. As if that wasn’t enough, I even showed up just in time to save someone.’
As for the Dragon Attendant, Norton, he was just unlucky. When Baron had cut himself to escape the cavern earlier, some of his blood had trickled into the blood pit.
And this Dragon Attendant, Norton, had happened to absorb Baron’s blood from that pit.
It was a well-known fact that one of the Authorities of a Blood Faction Demon Hunter was the ability to control their own blood... which was why Norton the Dragon Attendant had been defeated so easily.
Just as Baron prepared to finish Norton off with the Scale-Stripping Saber, a voice spoke up from behind him.
"Capturing a leader of the Dragon Eater Association is quite a meritorious act. Why don’t we keep this man alive for now? We can wait for the Law Enforcement Organization to arrive and thoroughly investigate his connection to Baron Constantin."
Roy smiled and extended a hand toward him. "Master Jack... thanks to you, we were able to..."
SWOOSH!
Master Jack reached out as well—not to shake Roy’s hand, but to snatch the long spear right out of his grasp!!!
Roy had no time to dodge. An immense force tore the long spear from his grasp, and then, in front of all the Dragon Descendants and Trial Takers, Master Jack pinned him to the stones of the plaza!!!
"Why...?"
Roy’s eyes widened, so bloodshot they looked ready to burst. He never imagined Master Jack would suddenly turn on him!
He clutched desperately at the spear piercing his chest, staring at the equally chilling eyes beneath Master Jack’s mask. "Why..."
Master Jack’s sudden attack stunned the onlookers. The recently relaxed, fragile atmosphere was instantly shredded, like fine gauze, and blood began to seep from the tatters.
"Roy!" Outside the mountain range, Elder Pence bellowed, his eyes turning bloodshot with fury.
Everyone was once again stunned by the scene playing out before them.
This Dragon Guide of unknown origin had actually... attacked the young master of the Hestia Family!!!
In the plaza, the Trial Takers stood frozen like the statues of Easter Island. They watched in a stupor as the Dragon Guide, his grip on the spear as ferocious as his mask, slammed the Hestia Family’s young master to the ground. In an instant, he dragged him dozens of meters and pinned him against the Dragon Bone, a curving smear of blood marking his path!
No one dared to try and save the Hestia Family’s young master. Instead, they all instantly backed away to observe the changing situation.
"’Because I am a man who keeps his promises,’ Master Jack said in a chilling voice. He gave the long spear a vicious twist, making sure Roy felt every bit of what it was like to be pinned to the bone."
"’What promise...’ Roy’s expression froze, like a sheet of paper smoothed flat only to be ripped in two."
A wind howled up from the depths of his memory. He remembered their confrontation that day, high in the sky, amidst the clouds and setting sun.
"Could it be... you’re..." With a trembling hand, he reached out and grabbed Master Jack’s mask.
"Are you really..." Roy saw the Golden Eye beginning to glow from behind the mask.
"Baron Constantin."
His words struck everyone like a stone dropped into a calm lake, unleashing a second tempest in their hearts.
"What did he say...?"
"He said Master Jack is Baron Constantin..."
"Which Constantine?"
"I think he means that infamous Bloodless..."
"The Bloodless, Baron Constantin... How could that be... Wasn’t the other guy the imposter...? Another Baron Constantin appearing now... No way..."
"But Master Jack didn’t deny it... What in the world is going on?"
First the imposter Dragon Devourer Cultist on the ground, and now Master Jack... Was this some kind of game of "Play the Constantine"?
The sheer amount of information caused everyone’s minds to short-circuit.
Except for the few who had seen the Golden Eye.
Isabella wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth and helped Lucy to her feet.
Her gaze was locked onto the figure, her hand gripping her long spear in a white-knuckled grip.
Dewey Frank’s face was a mask of suspicion and disbelief.
Pound’s face was a ghastly mix of livid and pale. "How... how is that possible... How could Baron Constantin be in the Dracul Mountain Range...? That despicable Bloodless... that Son of the Demon... How..."
Freya stared at the Golden Eye beneath the mask, her grip tightening on her Magic Staff. The thought that Master Jack was her former fiancé was simply too absurd...
Especially when it was the former fiancé whose engagement she had broken, the one now wanted throughout the entire Inner Side...
But the truth was undeniable.
CLACK.
Master Jack’s mask was finally torn away by Roy. The Golden Eye, symbol of a Dragon Knight, and the burning Cross Scar on his cheek were exposed for all to see, like a shark breaching the surface.
The Lawbreaker, Baron Constantin, lifted Roy high on the spear. He turned to face the Trial Takers, the Dragon Devourer Cultists, and the members of the Old Blood Nobility watching via the projection, and declared:
"I told you I would have my revenge. And this is only the beginning."
And so, everyone held their breath.
The only thing reflected in their eyes were the sparks erupting from the blazing Dragon Knight.
