Chapter 206: The Other Two Mortal Gods
I checked the mirror again, "You sure this is ok?"
Olivia nodded, "It is fine, my Lord. No one will fault you for what you are wearing. Besides, we are also not dressed according to societal norms too."
I eyed the only woman in the room that was currently dressed in a business suit with a tight pencil skirt complete with stockings and heels.
She managed to have the decency to blush a little, "Ah... I... This is just what I’m used to wearing... My Lord..."
Well... I guess she’s right. Everyone else was basically dressed for combat right now so they were definitely not wearing business suits or dresses... Dan’s practically decked out in his full plate armour but I would say that looks way better than just a simple suit to begin with.
With her assurance, I put on my mask and stepped out into the corridor where the rest of my Guardians were waiting.
I gave them a nod in acknowledgement before we headed to the lift lobby and started our descent.
It was quite a tight squeeze for all of us and I’m more surprised that the lift did not sound the overload alarm and we managed to get to the floor we needed and stepped outside.
Charlotte was there waiting for us and she gave a deep bow when I stepped out of the elevator.
"Good morning, Mortal God. I hope the hotel was up to standard last night?"
I nodded, "It was. The service was excellent and I have no complaints."
"I see. I will pass along your praise to the hotel staff. We will be heading to the convention centre soon. The other two Mortal Gods await."
I gave her a nod again and she led the way to the covered walkway that linked directly to the convention centre.
There, I saw two distinct groups of people gathered together, both of them each surrounding a single person who was no doubt the Mortal Gods of Malaysia and Indonesia.
It was then I realised that the two women I slept with last night were amongst them and this was going to be pretty awkward if I saw them right now.
Oh wait, I have my mask... It should be fine...
Anyway, they should just be normal Guardians and it sounds like they do sleep around so it shouldn’t be that big of a deal for them, I think... They’re probably sleeping with their own colleagues as well.
As we got closer to them, I quickly realised that everyone in both groups were female, all of them whispering amongst themselves with their Mortal Gods in the centre of the group.
I mean... I guess even I have mostly females on my team, but I at least have a few guys... Even if one of the guys is a femboy...
I’m going to stop talking now...
From where I stood, I couldn’t really see where Siti and Diana were in that group and I wasn’t going to embarrass myself by craning my neck to search for them.
Although... I did see Liyana, the Guardian of the Mortal God of Malaysia whom I had met twice by now. Once during that fateful day I became a Mortal God myself, and the second time where she greeted me as the representative of her Mortal God.
Charlotte gestured to the two groups, "The Mortal Gods will enter the convention hall together side by side once the emcee calls for you. The Guardians will follow them in behind them. There will be staff inside that will guide you to your seats once inside."
I nodded at her and she left us to head down the pathway, presumably to check the status of the summit and inform them that we were ready to enter.
My Guardians also surrounded me like those other two groups did, using their bodies to hide me from view.
I raised my eyebrow at them, "Is this supposed to be the standard or something?"
Olivia was the one who spoke up, "You are in the presence of other Mortal Gods, my Lord... We do not know if they are hostile to you... If they are, we will put our bodies on the line to protect you."
"Umm... I mean... If it’s a Mortal God vs Mortal God situation, I think it would be more pertinent of me to be standing up against them myself than throwing you guys at them, right?"
"We will serve as your shields, my Lord. In case they throw a surprise attack, we can buy you time to prepare."
Geez... Always so serious... But I guess that’s just the norm around here.
They would use their own bodies as shields to protect the Mortal God because everyone knows that sacrificing someone else is way better than having the Mortal God killed.
In fact... If the Mortal God was killed under the Guardians’ watch, I would think the Guardians would be put to death for failing to protect the Mortal God anyway.
Thankfully, neither of the two Mortal Gods attacked us and we only needed to wait for about a minute before Charlotte and two men I don’t recognise appeared.
I assume those two men were the representatives of those two Mortal Gods just like how Charlotte was supposedly my representative here.
All of them shared one thing in common... Which was that they were quite attractive looking and I doubt that was something that was done by accident.
"Divine Ones... We are ready for your entrance. If it would please you..." Charlotte spoke out.
Incidentally, the three representatives were standing such that Charlotte was in between both men and I assume we were expected to stand in front of them for this before we enter the convention hall.
I went over to stand in front of Charlotte while I saw two figures leave the groups at the side to stand in front of those two men as well.
I chanced a look to see what the two Mortal Gods of Malaysia and Indonesia looked like and...
I found Siti and Diana peering back at the group I just left with interest.
My breath caught in my throat and I almost choked on it, managing to swallow before I made a scene.
First... Ok... This answered some questions...
Second... I didn’t know that they were public Mortal Gods.
By public Mortal Gods, I meant Mortal Gods who have revealed their real face to the public, either because they don’t care about hiding their real identity or they have other means to deal with it.
The two women were eyeing my group with interest, both of them undoubtedly searching for me.
But they realised that I was not in my group and their faces turned from curiosity to confusion before it turned to realisation and swivelled their heads to me.
I sucked in my breath and maintained my gaze towards the front, something that Charlotte noticed as she eyed the two women to the side who were staring at me with wide eyes.
She lowered her voice into a whisper, "Should I prepare anything, Mortal God?"
I gulped, "I do not think so... It’s fine..."
I had to swallow the words ’I hope’ at the end before I said it out loud.
Charlotte decided not to ask and merely gave me a node before she took a step back.
"Divine Ones... Please follow us into the convention centre. The summit is ready for you."
I kept my gaze straight ahead and followed Charlotte’s lead, fully aware that there were two women staring holes into me from my left and right.
I kept myself busy by noting that the three people in front of me were walking at the same speed deliberately so that all three Mortal Gods would be keeping pace with each other and no one was in front of the other.
When we reached the entrance of the convention centre, the three of them stepped aside and allowed us to take our step into the hall at the same time.
Stepping into the hall, I found myself standing right in front of a raised stage where a large semi-circular table was placed with three distinct seats behind them.
In front of the stage was a large rectangular table where various important looking people were seated that were a mix of different races, no doubt people of influence and power that were within the South Asian Conglomerate.
Behind that table was a gallery with tiered seats where even more people occupied to be able to see the large table of delegates as well as the raised stage at the front.
Another group of staff members came forward and we were guided up to the stage where everyone in the hall was standing and watching us take our seats.
I got the middle seat which I felt was the worst one and I settled into it, trying my best to ignore the two women that were still staring at me.
I could only thank whoever that arranged this for the fact that they used a large table so there was a rather large distance between myself and the two Mortal Gods. Far enough that private conversation would be impossible without shou--
Diana unceremoniously picked up her chair and dragged it across the stage, not even caring it was making a really loud scraping noise that filled up the hall.
Siti had more tact as she lifted the chair with a hand to avoid dragging it and both placed their chairs directly beside me before sitting down on it.
They were still staring at me.
Fuck...
