Chapter 208: You Have No Obligations
It was quite hard to pay attention to the summit... Especially when I had to act like nothing was happening under the table when these two were just doing whatever they wanted to me.
I think after they awakened as Mortal Gods, they basically found themselves to be starved for male attention and they’ve finally found one so they’re unleashing all their pent up desires on me.
Not only did Diana join in on openly rubbing my crotch with her hand like what Siti was doing, she had slipped off her heel and was rubbing her foot up and down my leg underneath my pants.
Siti was no better as she was just fondling my balls with one hand and had one of her legs draped over my thigh to pull it over to her side so that my legs were spread wider for them to grope my crotch.
Well... Not that I was any better since my hands were either rubbing their inner thighs or also stroking their crotch through their panties at the moment.
I’m not even sure if people even realised what was happening up here but I hope we were at least covered enough that they can’t tell.
I mean... It was already weird enough that these two chose to sit this close to me to begin with but at least that could be explained away with them wanting to talk to the new Mortal God.
But well... It’s kind of obvious we aren’t doing much talking and I hope this stage and table are high enough that no one could see how our arms were moving suspiciously...
Because I’m pretty sure if anyone could see how our arms were moving, they could very easily figure out we were getting a little freaky down there...
I sucked in a breath, "You two are..."
Diana smirked, "What? Horny bitches? Bitches in heat? I’ll have you know I don’t do this for just anyone."
"We literally just met each other yesterday..."
"Call it love at first sight then. That’s romantic, right?"
Siti gave me a pointed look, "You look like you’re enjoying yourself too, so are you in a position to complain?"
This girl... She was acting all shy and proper before and yet the moment her switch gets flipped she becomes like this... I’m pretty sure she’s a closet S while Diana’s an M, ironically.
I breathed, "I’m not complaining... Just pointing out the facts to make sure you two don’t regret this."
"Mmm... I think we’ll regret it if we don’t do it, actually. Hmm... Now that I think about it... We should meet up more often, shouldn’t we? I already don’t see Siti here enough. We barely meet each other a few times a year."
I gave her a pointed look, "We have our responsibilities as Mortal Gods to our country... We can’t just do whatever we want. There’s still portals appearing everyday that we have to work to close, don’t we? And there’s only three of us in this region."
Surprisingly, both Diana and Siti stared at me like I just told them the sky was green.
Diana turned to Siti, "I forget... There’s also Mortal Gods like this, hmm?"
Siti hummed, "It’s the first time I’m meeting one in person though. I heard that there’s a Mortal God from UAS who is also very dedicated to his role but I’m pretty sure he’s just basking in that power."
I frowned, "What are you talking about?"
Diana turned back to me, "Don’t take this the wrong way, Qing... But nothing is actually stopping us from doing whatever we want, you know? Our Guardians can handle those portals by themselves just fine as long as there are Vanguards to accompany them. Right now, there aren’t any rifts that are classified above Danger Class four within our region so we don’t need to participate in any of those expeditions if we don’t want to."
I blinked for a moment, "Isn’t that... I don’t know... Like a dereliction of duty or something?"
Diana actually did a spit take at my words while Siti was at least gracious enough to look away while covering her mouth to hide her smile.
"What? What’s so funny?"
Diana was trying her best to muffle her laughter so Siti had to be the one to explain to me, "Qing... I’ll just ask you a question... Would you think that a God of rain was not doing their duty if it did not rain twenty four seven?"
"Err... No?"
"That’s the same idea, Qing. I believe right now, you are still seeing yourself as a mortal being that is tied down by mortal expectations. You are one of us, a Mortal God. If you decide that you do not wish to participate in any more expeditions, no one else can tell you to do that."
"But... That would result in a lot of deaths, won’t it? Even with the Guardians leading, many Vanguards would lose their lives if they fight without a Mortal God as compared to with a Mortal God."
Diana sighed, "Oh wow... You’re one of those hero types then. I’m surprised you didn’t become one of those heroes instead. Or maybe you are? Are you Captain RV? Wait, no... He’s less attractive than you are so that can’t be it..."
I cleared my throat, "I don’t see myself as a hero though... But I do want to prevent needless deaths if I can help it. And as a Mortal God, I do have the capability to prevent it."
Siti chuckled, "The so called honourable types then. You see it as a duty for you to clean up the Anomalies I take it? Like that is supposed to be your role?"
"Is that not what it is? That’s the role of all Mortal Gods right? To dive into the rifts and clear them out to protect our World from them?"
"That thinking is very last decade," She sighed, despite the fact that it hasn’t even been ten years since the first appearance of Anomalies. "After the death of that Mortal God in the rift that almost destroyed the world, things have changed."
I remember that... It was just barely last year when a Mortal God had ventured into a rift alone back when Mortal Gods were thought of as invincible... He ended up getting swarmed by Anomalies and died in the rift, which then turned them into a Divine Class Anomaly and led the Anomaly of that rift to break out into our World.
They had to mobilise twelve Mortal Gods to fight that Anomaly and three more Mortal Gods lost their lives before that Anomaly was finally beaten and the rift was sealed.
The destruction caused was immense and that was when the Guardian system was implemented so that the Mortal Gods will never venture into a rift alone.
This is why Guardians are expected to die in their Mortal God’s place because if a Guardian transforms into an Anomaly, a Mortal God can still defeat them relatively easily. But if a Mortal God transforms into an Anomaly... Then they would need several Mortal Gods to defeat them at the price of a lot more deaths.
Diana nodded, "Now, a Mortal God who actively participates in expeditions into rifts is seen as someone who is a battle maniac, someone who is crazy, someone who is selfish... Or some kind of paragon of virtue. Which one are you?"
"None, I guess. I just don’t want people to die needless deaths if I can help it. If something bad happens and I have the power to stop it and I don’t... Those bad things happen because of me."
Both girls looked at me for a moment before sharing a look, having some kind of private conversation in that single look before they both turned back to me.
"Qing... You’re quite special, aren’t you?" Diana muttered.
"Why do I feel like the way you call me special is like saying I’m autistic or something? For the record, I’m not on the spectrum. At least... I don’t think I am... I never got tested."
Siti shook her head, "I don’t think there’s another Mortal God that thinks like you do... At least I don’t believe so. I’ve met all of them during the annual conference and even the ones who actively participate in expedition raids don’t participate in the raids because of the same reason you do."
Diana turned to me, "Just asking... You don’t have family who died to Anomalies, right?"
I shook my head, "I am fortunate enough to say that I don’t."
"Then you’re quite literally doing this for strangers?"
"I do not see my fellow people living in this World as strangers. We are all under threat from Anomalies. If I do not do this... Who else would? I was given this powers for a reason and I see that reason as protecting everyone else from these Anomalies."
These were all my honest thoughts at least... And I meant every word I said.
There is just one caveat of course... If I had to choose between my loved one or a stranger, I am definitely picking my loved one, no questions asked. But if I could protect both, then I would.
...
They really are looking at me like I said something weird...
