Chapter 1476: My Roommates
I looked at my new roommates.
One was Katsuki, who I actually suspect that she did something to ensure she actually won the lottery to get the spot in my room somehow.
The other two were strangers with one being a Mahun futanari with close cropped brown hair and looking like a stereotypical tomboy... And the other being a female Yoblin who was only up to the Mahun’s chest in height.
Both of them seemed to be from the group that just arrived today so I guess they had no idea who I was and greeted me with as much enthusiasm as one might show to a roommate, which was not much at all.
Not that I’m complaining either, since I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be spending a lot of time in my room anyway. The reason being the fact that the room next to mine, which was where Odeta was staying, ended up also being assigned to Lilith, Emilia and Minnera.
That means that room would most likely become the place where we would hang out the most while in the dorms.
Delmare got three strangers in her room as well and I guess she would also not be spending much time in her room either. At least the strangers in her room were also females as well and they all seemed like nice enough people so I doubt they would do anything to her.
For now, I guess I should at least get acquainted with the two roommates that I will be rooming with for the next year at the very least.
"Hello~" I greeted them with a friendly wave from my bed. "I’m Aster."
The Mahun dropped her bag on the floor and turned to me, a rather obvious bulge pushing against the front of her robes as she waved back at me.
"Liovile. From Volkonia village."
I gasped, "Oh! You’re also from Lehcarouc? Me too! Though I come from the capital!"
She gave me a look, "I can tell."
I’m not sure what that was supposed to mean but the Yoblin waved at me before I could figure that out.
"Well met. You can call me Maessa. I hope to learn from everyone here."
Katsuki stood by my side and also introduced herself, "Katsuki. I am my Mistress’s servant."
Liovile raised an eyebrow at me, "You have a servant here? Are you a noble?"
"Something like that," I told her, seeing no point denying it.
She gave me a nod but did not press any further, probably knowing that there was no point asking for information that I was not willing to give.
Maessa didn’t seem to have the same idea though, as she immediately turned to face me fully and her eyes seemed to shine with interest.
"Really?! A Noble? Which family are you from? What are you doing at the Academy? Do you have more servants around?"
I cleared my throat, "Ahem... I would like to keep my family a secret since I don’t think it is relevant in a place like the Academy. After all, everyone here is a student and people are judged based on their own personal merits and not the merits of their family."
Liovile nodded in agreement at my words while going back to put her things away in her locker.
Maessa seemed a little disappointed by my answer but chose not to push it either. Instead, she tried to change the topic.
"So what are you doing in the Academy? I would have thought that nobles would be busy trying to take over the house or something along those lines?"
I smiled at her, "Well... I have the luxury of not needing to worry about taking over the family anytime soon, so I’m allowed to pursue my own interests right now. And that interest is trying to learn everything I can."
That seemed to excite her for some reason, "Wow... You want to learn everything? Like everything, everything?"
"Everything that I can at the very least. After all, this is the place where people go to learn, right? And it’s the place to gain the most knowledge and skills. So of course I would want to get the best value out of this place that I can."
She nodded at me, "Hmm~ Hmm~ I understand that sentiment exactly. This is the place where you can go to learn anything. So of course you would want to learn everything. What’s more, what you can learn is all dependent on your skill and talent, not on your connections! It’s the perfect place!"
Well, she knows what she wants I guess? That’s a good thing to me.
Liovile then turned back around to nod at me, "I’ve been wanting to ask... What’s with that rock you’re carrying?"
I blinked at her for a good few seconds before gesturing at the egg I was carrying, "This?"
"Yeah, I’ve been meaning to ask that as well. Why are you carrying a rock?" Maessa asked.
"It’s an egg. Not a rock. Why would you think it’s a rock?"
Both of them stared at me and their eyes slowly got wider and wider as they comprehended what I just said.
"That’s... An egg?" Liovile asked.
I nodded, "Yes? Is there something wrong?"
"What... What egg is that big? That’s... Almost big enough to fit an entire person in there!"
"A dragon egg?" I told her as a matter of factly.
Maessa shuddered visibly, "Aster... Why are you holding on to a dragon egg? Where... Where did you get that from?"
"I.... Found it?" I half lied.
Technically, I threw the monster stone at the dragon and then it transformed into an egg where I also technically found it. So technically I am not really lying, right?
The Yoblin’s face seemed to pale a little, "Aster... Do you know... That dragons are very protective of their eggs? If... If you stole this from a nest... The dragon that laid it will hunt you down just to get it back..."
They’re scared that they will wake up one day with the roof torn open and a dragon peering into our dorm room, huh?
I chuckled, "Ehehe~ Relax, relax. I found it in a Dungeon, ok? It’s like a monster drop, not something that I stole out in the wild. There’s definitely no dragon parent flying around searching for a missing egg. You two can relax."
Both of them actually let out audible sighs of relief.
These two are fun. I think I might enjoy my time with them if this was enough to rile them up like this~
Actually, this might also explain why I’m getting all those weird looks from the people around me.
They’re either people who thought I was actually carrying a large egg shaped rock around for no reason... Or that they recognised it as a dragon’s egg and were definitely wondering how I was alive and well walking around with something I stole so brazenly.
That certainly puts some things into perspective.
I turned my attention to them instead, "So what are you two here for? Do you have a long term goal besides just graduating from the school?"
Liovile needed a moment to calm down before she answered, "I aim to become a knight in the capital city to support my family so I’m hoping to hone my Martial skills while I’m here. I’m also proficient in Pyromancy though it’s only at the first tier."
Maessa piped up after that, "I’m an alchemist! I want to learn even more about alchemy so I can make all kinds of stuff! Especially the ones that explode!"
I blinked at her, certainly not expecting such an ambition to come from the girl that was barely up to my chest in height.
"The ones that... Explode?" I asked, repeating her words.
She nodded, "That’s right! Why resort to spells to make things explode when you can mix together stuff to make them explode instead? You could carry them around with you and use them even when you’re out of mana! You wouldn’t need to worry about running out of mana anymore when you want to explode things! And even non-mages can make use of them!"
Liovile sucked in a breath, "Why is it even so important to make things explode?"
"Because that’s the only thing that is interesting about life! Explosions! The heat, the blast, the shockwave! It makes everything feel alive, doesn’t it? Especially when you are right in the centre of it!"
Err... I’m pretty sure that’s what ends lives, Maessa...
She continued, not even registering the fact that the other three people in the room were looking at her in worry.
"Once I graduate, I’m definitely going to try and join White Dragon Company! They’re at the forefront for innovation and I’m sure I can see a lot of cool things if I were hired there!"
Huh... So she wants to get hired by a certain company...
Hmm? Why does that company sound so familiar?

Isn’t that Emilia’s company?!
