Chapter 1494: Don’t try To Chant Within Slapping Distance
Professor Raita said that she wasn’t going to drop people out but... Well... There’s people who went ahead to drop themselves out throughout the course of the first lesson.
Honestly... I agree with this because if they don’t have the stomach for this... I don’t think they would be able to advance very far as a healer.
They were already at least tier two in Iatromancy at this point which meant that they would have to be able to deal with even worse maladies in the higher tiers of this magic.
And if holding a beating heart is too much for them... Then this is the highest tier they could ever reach.
Well... Then again... The professor did make us do other stuff aside from just holding a heart...
We were even told to come up to the cadaver and reach into its body and start dissecting it as well and were even made to hold parts of it while she explained each of the organ’s functions to the rest of the class.
Looking around the rest of the room, it seems like at least a quarter of the students have already dropped out on their own.
There were still a few students here that still looked uncomfortable with what was happening in the lesson but they didn’t seem to want to drop out either and just tried their best to get through it.
They still have a chance to bounce back I suppose, if they manage to get over this at the very least.
Right as professor Raita was showing off the intestines that she pulled out from the body, the bell rang for the end of the lesson and she looked quite disappointed.
"Oh dear~ Guess we have to end here today! No worries~ We can continue this next lesson! Remember to wash your hands on the way out!" She told us chirpily.
I actually felt a little disappointed because I genuinely found it quite interesting, especially since this lesson was being taught through a magical lens instead of a scientific lens.
One of the really interesting things I’ve realised that they still use the same terms to refer to them as well like calling it stomach acid that breaks down the food we ate, though there was a magical spin in it where the professor mentioned the food broken down here would also go into aiding the replenishment of our mana. That’s why mana potions work so well the moment you ingest them.
I’m already quite looking forward to the next lesson for this~
I quickly packed my things, which weren’t much since I had been recording my lesson notes on my system panel while Tiara had been writing hers in her notebook.
As we got ready to leave for lunch, another student whispered behind us, "Look... She’s even making the princess take notes for her..."
"What does she have to make the princess do something like that for her?"
"Shush... She can hear you..."
I... Really want to tell them that I’m not but... Screw it, I’m supposed to be the villain here.
Well... Might as well play the part here then.
I turned to Tiara, "We’re going to lunch now, come with me."
Tiara knew exactly what I was trying to do so she also joined in the act by lowering her head slightly to act subdued, "Yes, Big Sister..."
I wanna pat her head...
Ugh... Control, control...
I led her to the wash basins at the door to clean up before stepping out of the classroom and into the corridor, joining the rest of the students that were also headed off to lunch.
However, we didn’t get very far before a pair of boys suddenly came forward to block my path, both of them wearing the robes of a first year student.
They crossed their arms as they stared at me with what could have been contempt, their chins even tilted up at me like they were looking down on me.
Well, two can play at that game as I lifted up my chin to do the exact same thing to them.
"Why is there a pair of nobodies blocking my way?" I sneered at them with as much contempt as I could muster.
To their credit, they don’t seem the least bit intimidated by me. The guy on the left even sneered back at me.
"You really are quite arrogant as the rumours say. Do you even know what you’re doing here?"
If it was a normal conversation, I would be asking him what he meant here because I had no idea what he was talking about.
Instead, I opted for another response instead.
I tilted my chin even higher at him, "I should be asking you that question instead. Do you know you are standing in my way right now?"
The other boy scoffed, "Hear that? She’s definitely a noble. And she thinks her nobility means something here. How delusional of her."
The first boy shook his head at me, "We won’t make this difficult for you. The person behind you right now is the third princess of the Lehcarouc Kingdom. The two of us are citizens of the Lahcarouc Kingdom and we won’t accept you using her like some kind of lackey for yourself."
I scoffed at him, "Oh? Is this nobody trying to tell me what to do here?"
"We are not the only Lehcarouc citizens in this school and I’m sure you wouldn’t want to piss every one of us off, right?"
"Bold of you to assume that you know what I want and don’t want. In the first place, all of you aren’t even worth the effort of remembering to begin with. Now... Are you going to move by yourself or do I need to move you myself?"
The boy on my left sneered, "Oh come now. You’re all on your own right now and we just saw you walk out of the Iatromancy classroom. What are you going to do to me? Heal me? Your followers aren’t here either so we’re not scared of you."
The other boy nodded, "That’s right. If you release the princess right now, we would even be willing to help you patch up your relationship with all the others who came from Lehcarouc."
I straightened myself slightly and channeled my best arrogant noble voice as I could, "Ara? And what if I say I’m not willing to? I’m perfectly fine with having Tiara stay right where she is?"
The two of them let out a dramatic sigh.
"In that case, I suppose we have no choice."
"Indeed. You forced our hand here. Remember, we warned you about this."
Both of them started chanting to cast their spells... Which I found really stupid of them to do.
Not because they were openly trying to attack me... But they were chanting their spells within arms length of me...
In other words... They were within punching distance of me...
Well... I didn’t punch them at least... I felt that wouldn’t fit the ’noble’ villainess I was going for. That’s why I raised my hand and gave both of them a slap across their faces.
They were so surprised by it that they stumbled a few steps back, their eyes wide as they looked at me like they couldn’t believe I just slapped them, their spells forgotten.
"You... Did you just... Did you just slap me?" The boy on my right asked.
My response was to take the same number of steps forward as they had stumbled to stand at the exact same distance from them again.
Without another word, I raised my hand and gave both of them another slap across their faces once again.
They let out a yelp of surprise and stumbled another step back.
"Stop!! How dare you?! Do you know who we are?!"
"We’re noble heirs of our families!! You cannot afford to make enemies out of us!"
Ironic that these two were saying that I was throwing my noble status around and here they are trying to do the same thing as what they were accusing me of...
In fact, this actually explained why they were doing this.
These two were hoping to take Tiara from me and probably either gain more influence through befriending her... Or just outright try to marry her to get a royal status.
And now that I know that...
I stepped forward and slapped them across their faces again.
They let out a cry this time as their faces started to swell up from my slapping.
"Wait!! Stop! Stop you, crazy woman!!"
"How dare you slap us?!"
I slapped them even harder this time, enough to send one of the boys falling down onto the ground.
I think they finally got the message as the boy on the ground quickly scrambled away to make way while his friend turned around and ran away, leaving the other boy behind.
"Pathetic," I scoffed at them.
With the path clear, I could finally lead Tiara out of the building, the princess having been quiet all this while as she enjoyed the show of me slapping those two idiots.
She even let out a cute giggle when we walked past them.
At least she’s enjoying it I guess?
