Chapter 1326
When the Shadowless Sword Slash has amassed enough power inside the cursed host, it emits a ringing of the sword.
That heralds the birth of the divine sword—and tolls the host’s death knell.
Luo Shu said the sword’s ringing had started at dawn, and now four hours had passed.
Didn’t that mean the Shadowless Sword Slash could strike at any moment?
Heng Xuanzhen’s face changed; she strode straight into the Library Pavilion.
Liu Yuenong, by reflex, started in after her—but stopped at the threshold.
Seeing this, Luo Shu asked softly, “You’re not going in to see him? This might be the last time.”
He had seen too many partings of life and death. Though his heart ached, he stayed very rational.
Liu Yuenong bowed her head and whispered, “Will he hate me? If I hadn’t transmitted you away back then, he wouldn’t have been marked by the Shadowless Sword Slash. I’m a sinner.”
Luo Shu paused, then said gently, “In theory, yes—but no one can see the future.
“Even gods have fate. When fate arrives, you can’t dodge it. Don’t blame yourself too much.”
Liu Yuenong said nothing, but her tears fell like rain.
Just then, Ye Yu, pressing his right hand, walked out of the Library Pavilion.
“What are you crying for? I’m not dead yet.”
At that, Liu Yuenong looked up—and saw a sword seal already etched in Ye Yu’s right palm, light flickering along its edges.
An obvious omen that the Shadowless Sword Slash was about to trigger.
Liu Yuenong sobbed harder.
Heng Xuanzhen, coming out behind Ye Yu, caught the mood and her eyes went red on the spot.
“What are you doing? Why won’t you let me delay the seal?”
As she lunged, Ye Yu slipped aside.
Channeling his divine power into the seal, he said loudly, “Don’t slow it down. I want it to come out faster! Come out!”
With that final roar,
light blazed from Ye Yu’s palm,
and a divine sword slowly emerged.
All through the Tongtian Pavilion, the sword’s ringing would not cease.
The instant Heng Xuanzhen and Liu Yuenong saw the sword appear, they rushed forward.
Heng Xuanzhen reached for the hilt—only to clutch at air.
Liu Yuenong cast demonic qi to wrap the sword completely.
It was still useless.
The divine sword slipped through the demonic qi with ease and rose to hang over Ye Yu’s head.
At the side, Luo Shu couldn’t help a sigh.
“The worst thing about Shadowless Sword Slash is that it’s like it exists in another space.
“It can’t be affected by anyone else.
“That’s the real reason this sword seal is called unsolvable.
“A cursed one is doomed to die.
“Ye Yu is no different.”
It wasn’t just Luo Shu who thought so—Liu Yuenong and Heng Xuanzhen did too.
When even a God Monarch’s power couldn’t slow the sword for a heartbeat,
a deep helplessness flooded in.
Was it really going to end like this?
Compared to their grief, Ye Yu was all excitement.
He looked up at the sword over his head—and instead of dodging, went to meet it.
The sword wasn’t cowed either; it dropped straight down.
[whoosh]
The entire Tongtian Pavilion was cleaved in two. A massive crater yawned where Ye Yu had stood, smoke and dust billowing.
Heng Xuanzhen and Liu Yuenong turned ashen.
Staring into the haze, they fell to their knees.
Luo Shu suddenly drew a sharp breath. “No—why can I still sense Ye Yu’s aura?”
At those words, Heng Xuanzhen and Liu Yuenong’s eyes flew wide.
As the dust thinned, Ye Yu’s figure came into view.
He stood there intact; only the sleeve of his right arm was shredded. Nothing more.
“Ye Yu didn’t die?”
“Even after the Shadowless Sword Slash manifested—he’s still alive?”
“How is that possible?”
Shaking, they asked, “H-how did this happen?”
Ye Yu took out a slip from his storage and smiled. “A senior of the Tongtian Pavilion left a way to break the Shadowless Sword Slash. I thought it looked feasible, so I tried it. Works pretty well.”
Luo Shu darted up, seized the slip, and read intently.
“A Tongtian Pavilion senior had a way to break Shadowless Sword Slash?
“How could that be?
“Utter fantasy!”
If such a method existed, how could so many of the Pavilion have fallen to this seal back then?
He knew the Shadowless Sword Slash like the back of his hand. He kept reading.
Soon, he reached the solution.
Even a seemingly perfect divine art has a flaw; when it is strongest, it may also be at its weakest.
I believe that at the instant the Shadowless Sword Slash matures, breaks the body, and is about to strike—
the cursed should attack it first.
Put bluntly, the Shadowless Sword Slash is just a strand of sword qi you yourself have nourished.
If it’s sword qi, why shouldn’t it be breakable?
Only, it must be done by your own hand. No one else can help.
Note: We Demon Gods should rely on sturdy bodies—fists that shatter sword qi are the most dashing of all.
Signature: Bai Linze.
At that name, Luo Shu’s pupils tightened.
He murmured, “It’s him?”
Liu Yuenong was just as startled. She shook her head slightly. “How could it be written by him?”
Heng Xuanzhen kept silent; all her focus was on Ye Yu.
The reason didn’t matter. What mattered was that Ye Yu was alive.
That was enough.
Seeing the strange looks on Luo Shu’s and Liu Yuenong’s faces, Ye Yu grew curious and stepped up. “What is it? Why those expressions? Is he famous?”
Luo Shu nodded and began to recount Bai Linze’s story.
The man was indeed famous in the Tongtian Pavilion—very famous.
Only, it was infamy.
Everyone thought the guy was split in the head, muttering to himself all day—a madman.
Some judged that Bai Linze must have knocked his brain askew while shattering the void; how else would he end up like this?
He was too unhinged.
He loved taking on things that obviously couldn’t be done.
The most classic case was his research into the Shadowless Sword Slash. To find a solution,
Bai Linze captured quite a few people from Ancient Sword Gorge and forced them to plant the Shadowless Sword Slash on him.
Then he declared that in two days, at Ancient Sword Gorge’s gates, he would break this “unsolvable” sword seal before all their Sword Gods.
It caused quite a stir at the time.
Two days later, many of the divine races gathered to witness.
