Chapter 1324: The Combat Power on Incarceration Peak Is Now Balanced
“What did I just see? She defeated Wu Yao in a single move?!”
The old Transcendent Tribulation cultivators’ jaws hit the floor. That was Wu Yao, the one who attained immortality twice, yet Yun Zhi dealt with him in one strike. Could our assessment have been wrong? Is Yun Zhi not a half-immortal but an immortal?
That doesn’t add up either. The Immortal Ascension Tribulation brings about such a huge commotion. How could Yun Zhi have quietly ascended to immortality without anyone noticing?
Regardless, the facts were before them. They had no choice but to believe it. How laughable. We were worried about Yun Zhi’s safety when we should have been worried about Wu Yao’s life instead!
Seeing Wu Yao defeated actually made the old fossils feel better. They had been beaten by Yun Zhi in one move, and so had Wu Yao. It was the same outcome for everyone.
“Hai, if I had known that Fellow Daoist Yun Zhi could defeat Wu Yao, I wouldn’t have lowered my cultivation to mend my Dao heart!” a Transcendent Tribulation expert lamented. After being defeated by Yun Zhi, he had been so humiliated by losing to a junior despite his thousands of years of cultivation that he lowered his cultivation and cultivated anew to seek his Dao heart.
However, this wasn’t something that should be done often. Do it too much, and it could become addictive, making it hard to quit.
The other Transcendent Tribulation experts nodded. They had all sparred with Yun Zhi.
The Fusion cultivators had never witnessed such a scene. The unassuming Yun Zhi had dealt with Wu Yao in one move. Even myths and legends wouldn’t dare make up a story like this.
Shi Chan silently chanted “Amitabha.” No wonder Senior Yun Zhi could crush me even at the same level. It all makes sense now. It’s not because I’m too weak; it’s because my opponent is too strong.
Yun Zhi tore open space and returned to the Cultivation World with Wu Yao in tow. The Fusion cultivators lined up obediently behind her like chicks following a hen in the game of Eagle Catches Chicks.[1]
We’ve finally found a way back.
Lu Yang and Yun Mengmeng followed behind Yun Zhi. Even Fusion cultivators acquainted with Lu Yang didn’t dare approach him and inquire about Yun Zhi.
“Strange. How did Senior Brother Lu Yang and the Yu Emperor Wu Yao fight?” Shi Chan mumbled under his breath, frowning. He had wanted to recall the battle to aid his cultivation in the future, only to realize that he couldn’t remember it at all.
Even if they took out the recording orbs or accessed the warship surveillance cameras, they could only see white noise.
It wasn’t just Shi Chan; the other Fusion cultivators also noticed the anomaly. But they were only baffled briefly before putting the matter to the back of their minds, as if it weren’t anything important.
Lu Yang noticed this and mused. This was also the manifestation of the immortal oblivion trait. When he and Wu Yao fought, the Fusion cultivators could see and remember what transpired. But once Wu Yao ascended to immortality and condensed his Dao Fruit, the immortal oblivion trait took effect, making them forget Wu Yao’s Dao Fruit methods and even stop caring about it, effectively erasing this matter from their consciousness.
With the great battle concluded, the Cultivation World could finally breathe easy. After capturing the Zhutian warships, a half-immortal battle erupted outside. Now that the battle was over, they could finally deal with these captives.
~~~
Upon returning to the sect, they saw the River Spirit waiting at the entrance with a group of captives at the entrance, awaiting Yun Zhi’s decision.
Yun Zhi was bewildered. “Senior River Spirit, were you waiting for me?”
The River Spirit nodded. “We’ve run into a bit of trouble. There’s no more room on Incarceration Peak to lock these people up.”
Two hundred warships had thrown themselves at the Dao-Seeking Sect, resulting in over ten thousand captives. Never mind that Incarceration Peak was nearly at full capacity; even if it were empty, it couldn’t house this many people.
Yun Zhi’s expression turned slightly odd. She hadn’t anticipated this problem.
“How about reporting it and letting the imperial court handle it?” Lu Yang proposed.
“That’s a pretty good idea.” The River Spirit then led the captives away. He couldn’t leave the boundaries of the Dao-Seeking Sect, so someone else would need to take care of it. Weren’t First Elder and the others eager to take action? This task suits them perfectly.
“Sister Mengmeng, where have you two been all this time? Any gains from exploring the cosmos?” Lu Yang asked curiously.
“Of course!” Yun Mengmeng’s face lit up with excitement as she gesticulated wildly and giggled. “Little Zhi and I searched for months before finding a planet with living beings. That planet reveres cuisine; there is so much delicious food! Even trees are edible. The people there hollow out trees and live inside them, eating the trees whenever they want without worrying about them collapsing. After all, trees can grow back.
“Chefs are the most honored profession there. They also have food duels, ingredient duels, ingredient grading systems, and so on. They’ve researched so many cooking methods.
“I dragged Little Zhi around, eating as we walked. It was so satisfying! Even when we left, we had only tasted a fraction of the delicacies there.”
Lu Yang was amazed. “That really is a wonderful place.”
From Yun Mengmeng’s enthusiastic gestures, it was clear that she was extremely pleased with the place. Yun Mengmeng added, “Let me tell you. Little Zhi has zero talent for cooking. Seeing so many chefs there, she thought she could do anything and tried cooking like them, but it turned out terrible; it wasn’t even as good as my cooking.
“I figured she just couldn’t take the blow, which is why she dragged me back to the Cultivation World. We haven’t even visited many famous food cities yet.” Yun Mengmeng pouted, extremely displeased with Yun Zhi’s domineering behavior.
She completely failed to notice that Yun Zhi had turned and was staring at her with a rather hostile expression.
“So Lass Yun is interested in cooking? She should have said so! This immortal can teach her!” The Everlasting Immortal Fairy was satisfied with Yun Zhi’s timely intervention. She is a loyal official, and a loyal subject deserves a reward.
Yun Mengmeng continued rambling on to herself. “But I suppose that’s a good thing too, since Little Zhi got to help out the Second-in-Command in time. I’ll forgive her.”
Yun Mengmeng couldn’t see Yun Zhi’s reaction, but Lu Yang could see it clearly. He felt he shouldn’t listen any longer. “Ahem, Sister Mengmeng, I have something to attend to. I’ll get going first.”
“Hey, I’m not finished yet!” Yun Mengmeng exclaimed, pouting.
“I gained insights from this battle and need to enter seclusion for a breakthrough. See you next time, Sister Mengmeng!” Lu Yang moved farther and farther away from Yun Mengmeng, then darted into Heaven’s Gate Peak, refusing to come out again.
“Seclusion? Alright then.” Yun Mengmeng tried to be understanding. Cultivation is the foremost priority. “Come, Little Tian. Let’s go find Little He. I’ll tell you both.”
Yun Mengmeng grabbed Gan Tian, who had also returned from the battlefield.
Wu Yao’s expression resembled Yun Zhi’s. He was expressionless, resigned to his fate. To think that I, the almighty Heavenly Emperor, would be reduced to a prisoner. How lamentable. I am probably the first immortal in history to be captured.
Yun Zhi carried Wu Yao all the way from the mountain gate to the sect’s core area, then to the desolate Incarceration Peak.
“Hmm?” Wu Yao’s pupils contracted when he sensed the Incarceration Peak’s presence. The entire Incarceration Peak is forged from immortal gold! How extravagant!
“He’s here, he’s here!” a prisoner at the outermost edge shouted, sticking half his head out to take a look. Spotting Wu Yao, he ran back to spread the word.
Wu Yao was baffled. Why does that man look so much like the Myriad Spells Daoist Lord from our Great Yu Dynasty?
“In you go.” Yun Zhi tossed Wu Yao into Incarceration Peak like throwing a stone.
Wu Yao stumbled two steps, and a figure appeared before him. He looked up. It’s Guan Shanhai?!
He also noticed a bunch of people standing around Guan Shanhai. They look like cultivators from Great Yu?
“Why are you here...” The two had been both mentor and friend, separated for over a hundred thousand years. Though there had been disagreements, looking back, those conflicts meant nothing now.
Guan Shanhai slapped Wu Yao firmly on the shoulder. Even a burly man like him was extremely emotional at this moment.
Caught up in the atmosphere, Wu Yao was equally emotional. “Yes, I’m finally here... Huh?”
Isn’t this phrasing off?
Guan Shanhai threw an arm around Wu Yao and pointed arrogantly at the opposing group. “You lot from Great Qian, look properly! Our Great Yu people are all assembled now. We’re not afraid of you anymore!”
A question mark popped out of Wu Yao’s head.
1. The game consists of one eagle, one hen, and everyone else as chicks. The eagle’s goal is to catch the chicks, while the hen protects them. ☜
