Who Let Him Cultivate?! (WX)

Chapter 1167: Why Do People Keep Interrupting My Class?

The morning sunlight spilled across the streets. The guards at the city gate had kept watch through the night and were conducting their handover. None of them noticed a golden nascent soul floating over their heads and slipping into Muxue City stealthily.

The golden nascent soul was dim and nearly transparent, its childish little face contorted with a malevolent expression.

“Damned Nine-Netherworlds Creed! They’re so capricious. One wrong word, and they’ll kill you.”

The golden nascent soul shuddered at the memory. A Divine Transfiguration cultivator had led twenty Nascent Soul cultivators and wiped out the Nine Ghost Alliance’s lair.

As the saying goes, one shouldn’t strike someone who smiles. The alliance leader had treated that Nine-Netherworlds Creed envoy, Huo Huashen, with the utmost courtesy and wore a fawning smile throughout. Yet before the alliance leader knew what hit him, his head was rolling on the ground, his eyes still wide open in death.

Fortunately, as the Ghost Assassin Alliance Leader, I’m skilled in assassination and stealth techniques. It was only by burning away my lifespan that I narrowly escaped.

Although he had fled the scene, his injuries were too severe and incurable. Out of options, he abandoned his physical body, with only his nascent soul remaining. To evade the Nine-Netherworlds Creed’s pursuit, he had fled the entire way, and his nascent soul’s power was nearly depleted.

“I must find a target for body takeover!”

The Ghost Assassin Alliance Leader gritted his teeth. I’d once stood so high and might, yet now, I’m reduced to a pathetic cur skulking about for a body to take over.

“This kid’s mental power seems extraordinary. His physical condition also far surpasses that of his peers. You shall be the one!”

The Ghost Assassin Alliance Leader was over the moon. I didn’t expect to encounter such a genius. After the body takeover, I may even advance further; reaching the Divine Transfiguration Stage or Void Refinement Stage may even be possible!

Su Yuan’s home...

“Meditation requires a calm mind. How can you meditate when you’re so restless?”

Su Yuan sat in the lotus position, the most orthodox meditation posture. It was a method of cultivating the mind and heart.

The only problem was that the voice had been consistently dissatisfied with his meditation results.

Suddenly, a streak of golden light passed through the door and darted into Su Yuan’s head, completely unnoticed by him.

~~~
The Ghost Assassin Alliance Leader arrived in Su Yuan’s mental space and rejoiced. “I was right. This kid has an innate constitution for mental power. He’s already opened a mental space while still a mortal. Once he formally begins cultivation, his mental power will likely be ten times that of his peers.”
Mental attacks with ten times the mental power were enough to kill opponents of the same level instantly.
“But why is it so dark here? Does this kid not know he has a mental space? Has he never come here before?” The Ghost Assassin Alliance Leader was puzzled. This shouldn’t be the case.
Suddenly, an oil lamp lit up on either side. One after another, countless more lamps flickered to life, paving a pathway ahead.
The Ghost Assassin Alliance Leader’s hair stood on end. This can’t be. No matter how gifted one’s constitution is for mental power, a mortal can’t possibly possess such an enormous mental space!
Clank, clank.
The sound of metal clashing rang out, something the Ghost Assassin Alliance Leader knew far too well based on his expertise in torture and interrogation. It was the rattle of chains.
Why are there chain sounds in a mental space?
At the end of the illuminated path, a white figure appeared. Their limbs were bound by black chains, the other ends stretching off into the unknown.
The white figure slowly raised its head, revealing a pale smile. “I thought Su Yuan would be the first guest to visit this place.”
The Ghost Assassin Alliance Leader stared at the figure in disbelief, a chill running down his spine.”
“Wh-Who are you?!”
A majestic voice resounded through the mental space, shaking the Ghost Assassin Alliance Leader’s nascent soul so violently that it grew dimmer.
“Who am I? I would also like to know that answer myself. All I remember is that this body is too weak to bear my entire soul, so I have no choice but to seal myself away here.”
The Ghost Assassin Alliance Leader flashed an apologetic smile and tried to slip out of the mental space. “Since you are here, Senior, I shall not disturb you further.”
“Do you still think you can leave after coming here?”
The lamps went out. A scream tore through the mental space before quickly fading, as though nothing had happened.
Su Yuan shuddered slightly. He had finally managed to enter a meditative state when he sensed that some unknown change had occurred within him.
“Kid, this esteemed one has good news for you...” The voice sounded somewhat pleased.
Su Yuan slapped his head. “Oh crap, it’s all your fault for making me meditate so long! Look at the time. I’m going to be late for class!”
“The good news—”
“Tell me after class. Teacher Lu said we mustn’t get distracted during lessons.”
~~~

“Big Brother, we tracked the Ghost Assassin Alliance Leader’s aura to a thatched hut, but the place was empty,” a Nascent Soul member of the Nine-Netherworlds Creed reported to Huo Huashen.

The Ghost Assassin Alliance Leader had secret arts to escape, but the Nine-Netherworlds Creed also had secret arts to track their enemies. They had pursued him all the way to Muxue City, where the trail went cold, as if the Ghost Assassin Alliance Leader had vanished from the face of the earth.

“A thatched hut?”

“Yes, the hut belongs to an orphan called Su Yuan.”

“An orphan? Su Yuan?” Huo Huashen set down his teacup and pondered. “That is to say that the Ghost Assassin Alliance Leader took over Su Yuan’s body to escape?”

“Uh, it doesn’t seem like he escaped. According to our investigation, Su Yuan went to a place called ‘Tiger Roar Martial Arts School’ to attend class this morning.”

Huo Huashen sneered. “He’s maintaining his former habits after the body takeover. It’s just a front to pull the wool over people’s eyes.”

He raised his teacup, drained it in one gulp, smashed the cup, and strode out.

“The creed leader personally ordered us to take care of the Ghost Assassin Alliance Leader. We absolutely cannot let him escape again. Follow me!”

“Yes!” Twenty Nascent Soul cultivators shouted in unison, causing the room to shake.

~~~
Huo Huashen led the group straight to the Tiger Roar Martial Arts School. Letting the Ghost Assassin Alliance Leader escape right under my nose was utterly humiliating. If I let him slip away again, how could I ever face the vice creed leaders and the creed leader again?
“Big Brother, this is the place!” An underling pointed out the location to Huo Huashen.
Huo Huashen pushed open the wooden door, exuding murderous intent. His underlings filed behind him, lining up in formation to bolster their leader’s presence.
This spectacle wouldn’t just kill the Ghost Assassin Alliance Leader; it could scare him to death!
Huo Huashen swept his murderous gaze over the students one by one, trying to identify Su Yuan. Having never faced such a situation, the students trembled.
Then, Huo Huashen saw Lu Yang teaching at the front, and he began to tremble as well.
Why is Lu Yang here?!
“What are all of you doing here? You’re scaring the children.” Lu Yang frowned. Why do people keep interrupting my class?
And isn’t Huo Huashen from the Nine-Netherworlds Creed? What is he doing here?
Huo Huashen retreated two steps and pounded the wooden door, trying to knock it down. “Look at your door... Holy crap, ten-thousand-year Coiled Dragon Wood?!”
He hadn’t noticed it when he entered. Why is this run-down martial arts school’s door made of ten-thousand-year Coiled Dragon Wood? Even my boss, Vice Creed Leader Shi, doesn’t have such good stuff.
“Are you all here to replace the door too?”
In the Extreme North, splashing water could turn it into ice. Yet beads of sweat the size of soybeans broke out on Huo Huashen’s forehead as his mind raced.
“What I mean is, your martial arts school is so huge, yet you don’t even have anyone guarding the door. We’re here to apply for the position of gatekeeper.”
