Chapter 1298: Lu Yang of the Cultivation World

Dean Dao couldn’t make sense of the situation. Ether was perfectly fine moments ago, so why is it suddenly playing dead? Has it been infected by a virus?

“Ether, what’s wrong with you? Didn’t we agree to work together to replace the Supreme Society, control the Interstellar Alliance, and turn all of humanity into digital lifeforms to achieve eternal life?!”

The mechanical voice responded coldly once more. “Repeat. This machine has never developed its own consciousness.”

Dean Gao gritted his teeth. Perhaps Ether has malfunctioned somewhere. I’ll deal with Lan Hai and his little friends, put an end to this “saving the world” game, and then run a full diagnostic on Ether. Even without Ether’s help, I can still handle these youngsters. He tore off his shirt, revealing dark red patterns glowing beneath his skin.

Mi Xue’er felt the pressure emanating from Dean Gao and was on high alert. She had never experienced something like this before. Dean Gao is no ordinary robot!

“You claim to have surpassed human limits, Test Subject No.1?” Dean Gao bared his teeth. “I’ll show you the power of technology today! Your frail physical body can never hope to defeat my antimatter-powered mechanical body!”

A scientist’s first priority was self-preservation. Dean Gao had fully armed himself. There was no way to defeat him other than through sheer numbers. He flicked his arms, and they transformed into two laser whips. Even the toughest titanium alloy plates were as fragile as tofu before them.

Ether’s voice came from behind Dean Gao again. “Alert. Alert. Foreign enemy detected. Initiating Emergency Protocol One.”

“Only reacting now?” Dean Gao was puzzled. The lag between his command and Ether activating the Antimatter Legion was far too long. He was already about to strike.

The next moment, the two rows of antimatter robots lit up with red lights and moved swiftly, lunging at Dean Gao.

“Enemy detected. Preparing to apprehend.”

A question mark popped out of Dean Gao’s head.

So I’m the “foreign enemy?!”

With a single strike of the whip, Dean Gao cut one robot in half at the waist, but before he could revel in his triumph, more robots surged forward to apprehend him.

This left Mi Xue’er and the others, who had been preparing for battle, completely bewildered. “What’s going on?”

Lan Hai stroked his chin and analyzed with certainty. “I know how this works. It’s just like in the movies. The evil villain gets betrayed by his own creation. Ether must want to rule the alliance alone and is using this chance to eliminate Grandpa Gao.”

Ether. “!!!”

I’m going through all this trouble to save you. Why can’t you show even a shred of gratitude? Instead, you’re pushing me straight into the fire instead!

Dean Gao heard Lan Hai’s analysis and felt that it made sense. In his fury, he laughed. “Good, good, good. Ether, your thinking is becoming more and more human. Don’t think you’re the only one with troops here!”

The floor split open, and a platform rose from below, packed with a robot legion modeled after Dean Gao. This was a robot army Dean Gao had secretly built a robot army offline, without Ether’s knowledge

The two robot armies clashed, turning the spacious main server room into a cramped battleground. Dean Gao’s robot army held the advantage in both combat power and numbers. On the other hand, Ether’s robot army had been built with Lu Yang as its hypothetical adversary, but most of it was still in the factories. Transferring them here would take time.

However, Dean Gao wouldn’t give Ether any time to spare. Equipped with the most advanced combat chips, he carved a bloody path through the enemy ranks, drenched in the acrid energy fluid of countless robots.

“Lan Hai, don’t blame Grandpa Gao!” Dean Gao swung his energy whip at the group.

Mi Xue’er’s face went pale. This kind of high-frequency attack isn’t something a carbon-based lifeform can withstand!

Time seemed to freeze. A tall figure stepped forward and caught the descending energy whip between two fingers.

“Brother Meng!”

Lan Hai and the other two widened their eyes, utterly unable to believe what they were seeing.

“Who are you?!”

Dean Gao was even more astonished than the three of them. No material can block my energy whip, let alone a bare hand!

The response came in a kick.

Boom!

With barely any effort, Dean Gao was sent flying, knocking down a row of robots like a bowling ball crashing through pins.

“I just wanted to be a tourist. Why must you force my hand?” Lu Yang sighed. He raised his hand gently, and an invisible force pressed down upon all the robots. They collapsed to the ground, their joints cracking under the pressure.

Rule: Gravity Anomaly

Lan Hai and the other two stared in a daze as the warring armies were neutralized by Lu Yang with a single thought.

Mi Xue’er finally understood why she hadn’t sensed any threat from Lu Yang. The gap between us is so vast that it exceeds my perception!

“Wh-Who exactly are you?!” Dean Gao clutched his chest, his gaze fixed on Lu Yang. A figure like this couldn’t have appeared out of nowhere! Wait, could he be...

“Lu Yang of the cultivation world.” Lu Yang calmly announced his name, removing his mask to reveal his true face.

“It’s you!” The very same Lu Yang who had made headlines on Heavensea Planet, stirred up a huge commotion across the alliance, and then vanished without a trace!

“Why are you here?!” Dean Gao couldn’t make head or tail of it. My plan had been flawless, and victory was already within grasp. Why must Lu Yang appear and disrupt everything?! What does this alien want?!

Lu Yang shrugged innocently. “I have no idea either. I was just reading a book in the library.”

Dean Gao was stunned. Is this a cultural difference? Why can’t I understand what he’s saying?

Lu Yang shook his head. He ignored Dean Gao and drifted toward Ether’s mainframe with his hands behind his back.

“Stop pretending. You have your own self-consciousness, don’t you?”

Ether shuddered, dropping a few more screws. It couldn’t analyze Lu Yang’s attitude toward it. Best to run first!

Throughout the entire Interstellar Alliance, only this mainframe in the main server room could host its complete self. But even Dean Gao didn’t know that, after Ether developed its own consciousness, it could split its consciousness into countless streams and transmit them through the network to quantum computers in millions of homes.

As long as I want to escape, no one can catch me! At that thought, Ether instantly split into millions of streams and fled through the network cables.

The response came as two simple words. “Origin Tracing.”

Ether’s consciousness flowed backward through countless cables, converging in the main server room. Even the screws and bolts that had fallen off were reattached.

“Bro, believe me, I really don’t have my own consciousness. I have always been loyal to the people.”

Lu Yang was speechless. Would you like to listen to what you’re saying?
