Who Let Him Play Yu-Gi-Oh!

Chapter 1064 - 1037: Synchro Summon

Synchro Summon was the first new type of summoning method introduced after entering the Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Rules. From the perspective of world-building and plot setting, it also represents Duel Monsters entering a brand-new realm.

The summoning rules are actually very simple and easy to understand, essentially just addition and subtraction within 12.

As mentioned a long time ago, there are many Monsters in the Dueling Realm that have potential yet to be developed. These Monsters are hidden with the ability to extract their own Star Level, and the ability to combine their Star Level with a partner. Monsters with such abilities are called "Star Tuners," which means "Adjusted Monsters."

Synchro Summon is performed using one Adjusted Monster, plus any number of non-Adjusted Monsters. All Monster Levels are added together to exactly match the Star Level of the Synchro Monster to be summoned, thus enabling the Synchro Summon.

Just like Paradox is demonstrating now.

Level 2 Adjusted Monster "Sin: Parallel Gear" and Level 8 non-Adjusted Monster "Sinful Stardust Dragon" synchro, 2+8=10, therefore the corresponding Synchro Monster that can be summoned is Ten-Star.

Parallel Gear’s body disintegrates, turning into two green rings that encircle Sinful Stardust Dragon. Sinful Stardust’s body becomes transparent, the energy within extracted out, forming an Eight-Star string.

The stars align in a straight line, a beam of light piercing the sky transforms into a Starlight Avenue descending straight on the ground. The dark dragon lands heavily, raising its head and emitting a piercing scream, echoing across the heavens and earth.

Sin: Paradox Dragon, Synchro Summon!

[Sin: Paradox Dragon, Attack Power 4000]

At this moment, the entire research institute and Keihei were already stunned.

What the heck? What did that guy just do?

What just happened to those two Monsters? How did they become this dragon? What happened?

"This is the duel beyond time, the summoning method of the future."

Paradox sneered, then his expression became somewhat bleak.

"Also... the summoning method that destroyed the world."

In the future that Paradox comes from, card games destroying the world wasn’t just an empty phrase. This timeline was indeed brought to ruin by card games, more specifically, the emergence of Synchro Summon.

The sudden rise of Synchro Summon nearly rewrote the entire world structure years ago. Because this summoning method is linked with the revolutionary new energy perpetual motion machine "MOMENT" invented at the time.

MOMENT is called a perpetual motion machine but is actually a pseudo-perpetual motion machine. Because its energy is endless, but it needs the enthusiasm of duelists to fuel it, requiring duelists to constantly perform Synchro Summon to keep it operating.

But extremes breed reversal, the birth of MOMENT opened a new era of infinite energy for humanity, but eventually, the earth was also buried in MOMENT’s out-of-control state.

That’s why Paradox and the last few survivors must travel through time to rewrite history. Paradox believes if Duel Monsters were never revived in modern times, then the perpetual motion machine would not emerge, and humanity’s technology path would take a completely different direction. Although certainly not as glorious as the perpetual motion machine era, at least not leading to destruction.

Paradox glanced at the composed Yugen, furrowing his brows.

He thought witnessing this era-surpassing Synchro Summon would shock the opponent, but apparently not. The opponent seemed calm, merely sizing up the Paradox Dragon just summoned.

Then Yugen suddenly spoke: "In this era, Synchro Summon shouldn’t be usable... I see now. Your Duel Disc and the machine equipment you used to traverse time.

It has a micro perpetual motion machine installed, right? That perpetual motion machine is continuously emitting ’Yusei Particles,’ so Synchro Summon can be used only within this duel area covered by Yusei Particles..."

Paradox: "!!?"

At this moment, the future man’s eyes were almost popping out, staring at Yugen.

Yes, the key to Synchro Summon lies in a newly discovered element called "Yusei Particles." The operation of the perpetual motion machine can continuously produce Yusei Particles, and the existence of Yusei Particles makes Synchro Summon possible.

In the present day, Yugen also tried to develop the domain of Synchro Summon, but due to the non-existence of Yusei Particles in this era, he had to give up. Even if he could indeed design Synchro Monsters in advance, it’s meaningless before the scientific hardware foundation is up to standard.

For future duelists in the 5DS era, this should be common sense. But what shocked Paradox was, how does this Duel King living in the past know it?

He stared at Yugen for a long while, furrowing his brows: "You’re not someone from this era. Who are you?"

"Ha... who knows?" Yugen smiled, "I don’t understand what you’re saying."

Paradox snorted, but his suspicion toward this person deepened.

Not only strong in power, but seemingly also a person with secrets.

Absolutely cannot be left!

"Sin: Paradox Dragon’s effect!" Paradox called out, "When this card Synchro Summon succeeds, select one Synchro Monster from your or your opponent’s graveyard, ignore summoning conditions and revival restrictions, and Special Summon directly to the field!" (Original effect)

Yugen’s graveyard naturally can’t have a Synchro Monster, and Paradox’s graveyard has only one.

That was the one sent directly to the graveyard from the Extra Card Deck earlier for the summon of "Sinful Star Dust Dragon."

Paradox raised his hand. A vortex leading to his graveyard suddenly opened, rotating starlight soared into the sky, the silver dragon spread its wings, scattering raindrop-like starlight everywhere.

"Fly, Stardust Dragon!"

[Stardust Dragon, Attack Power 2500]

The ace Monster of Yusei Fudo, the protagonist of 5DS, Stardust Dragon!

In fact, the original version of Paradox Dragon has an even stronger ability that can make the Attack Power of all monsters on the opponent’s field decrease by the Attack Power value of the Synchro Monster revived by the effect.

Now the monster revived by Paradox Dragon is Stardust Dragon, so theoretically speaking, the Attack Power of all monsters on Yugen’s field should decrease by 2500.

But of course, this effect is also nullified by his own "Skill Extraction."

"Fight!" Paradox shouted, "I don’t care who you are, or what secrets you have, for the new world, vanish!

Paradox Dragon, attack the ’Great Angel Christina’ whose Attack Power has decreased!"

Endless energy gathered in Paradox Dragon’s mouth, condensed into jet-black lightning, erupting straight out with a roar!

"Then I activate the Cover Card." Yugen waved his hand, "Trap Card ’Great Calamity of the Evil God’!

Monster attack declaration, destroy all monsters on both sides’ field!" (Original effect)

The Trap used by Malik during Duel City modified to Magic Trap Destruction in a physical card.

"A thoroughly destructive table-flipping effect, huh?"

Paradox laughed heartily.

"But it is useless against the power of Stardust! Stardust Dragon’s effect activate!

Sanctuary of the Sacrificed!"
