Chapter 1100 - 1073: Three Secured
Boom!
The deafening explosion, and outside the window, a hurricane surged into the sky. Torn steel bars and rubble danced in the storm.
Yugen instructed the driver to stop the car, opened the door, and walked to the edge of the overpass, looking down towards that direction.
"That place... the Degenerate Zone, isn’t it?" Yugen muttered to himself.
After being an officer for a while, he also started to understand some situations in this city. The part under the bridge was the "Degenerate Zone" near the city’s edge, mainly composed of people who had been marked but had been released from the asylum.
Once marked, people were essentially treated as "bottom scum" in the city, making it difficult for them to live in the city. However, they were unwilling to be relegated to the Satellite District, and many of them stayed in the area between the city and the Satellite District, gradually evolving into the current "Degenerate Zone."
At this moment, the hurricane, like a black pillar piercing the sky and earth, carried a swirling mass of torn steel and rubble that tore through space violently. The already dilapidated buildings in the Degenerate Zone were further torn apart, ancient brick walls shattered like paper sheets under the wind pressure, and concrete fragments became circular weapons, slicing through the remaining building structures.
Shooting out with the hurricane were thick vines. They seemed like giant sutures piercing through buildings one after another.
"Vines?" Yugen already guessed the true nature of this chaos.
Indeed, under the wind pressure below, the people in the Degenerate Zone ran frantically in all directions, someone shouting in panic: "Witch! It’s the Witch!"
"The Black Rose Witch has appeared!"
The swirling tendrils sliced through the smokescreen, and the vines summoned by the Duel Disc system were not holographic but completely real, their casual movements accompanied by a powerful hurricane. In the deserted plaza, soon only one silhouette remained.
A woman with a graceful figure, shrouded in a wide black robe. She wore a hood, pink hair flowing down beneath the brim, her face masked white, almost entirely hidden from head to toe.
"So, the second person has appeared." Yugen chuckled lightly.
He knew that she was one of the Dragon Mark bearers he was searching for, the heroine of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s—if works like Yugi King have a heroine—Akiza Izinski.
Unlike the traditional Dark Duelists who could materialize Elves in the first two series DM and GX, Akiza possessed no dark powers, but was a Telekinetic Duelist. This resembled a kind of superpower from genetic mutation, where she naturally had the ability to manifest card powers physically from a young age.
However, this capability was beyond her conscious control, for as long as she used the card, it would surely trigger. It was similar to duelists in GX manifesting cards in the entirely physical Elf Dimension.
As a child, due to her uncontrollable telekinesis, Akiza had hurt many people, thus living under the gaze of others’ hatred and contempt, gaining the title "Witch." Even her own parents displayed fear towards her, causing a rift and her eventual departure from home. However, by the end of the anime, with Yusei’s help, she reconciled with her family.
Of course, she was also a Dragon Sealer. Yet, her telekinesis seemed innate and likely unrelated to the Red Dragon’s powers. But because she naturally had both the Dragon Seal and telekinesis, she instinctively blamed the Dragon Seal for problems. She detested her powers and the Dragon Seal on her arm, calling it a "taboo mark."
Yusei stood on the bridge watching for a while, until Akiza disappeared from the plaza after causing a commotion. Yugen did not intervene, nor did he directly invite her to compete. Directly sending an invitation now might entice her to compete, but perhaps not.
Nonetheless, it didn’t matter. Yugen had a more assured method to ensure her attendance.
Even the mastermind must employ strategy.
For now, he would first invite the person he had more confidence in.
Returning to the Public Security Maintenance Bureau, Yugen entered the building’s depths, restricted to everyone including Vice Officer Yego.
Few people in the bureau knew such a facility existed. A dark room like a laboratory with various unknown, sophisticated instrument equipment surrounding it.
In the room’s center was a jar filled with liquid, floating inside was a hand.
Yes, a hand, appearing as if severed from the elbow. Clear on the arm was a Dragon Seal, specifically the Dragon Head Seal, representing the leader status of Dragon Sealers.
In the later part of the anime, this Dragon Seal was transferred to Yusei due to the Red Dragon being impressed by his qualities. But prior, the original owner of the Dragon Head Seal was Officer Godwin’s brother Ludger, the initially awakened Dragon Sealer.
Ludger was originally a scientist researching the Perpetual Motion Machine alongside Yusei’s father, Dr. Fudo. In the Zero Reversal incident, the out-of-control Perpetual Motion Machine tore Tongshiyi City into two, separating the Satellite District, during which Ludger was consumed by the Evil God’s power. Within his body, both the Red Dragon and the Evil God’s power resided, his body became a battlefield for divine conflict.
Ludger suffered immensely, and eventually, the Evil God’s power seemed to gain an edge. Ludger severed the arm bearing the Dragon Seal, entrusted it to his brother Godwin, then became the leader of the Dark Markers.
Though just one arm, the Dragon Seal had been collected. Now, considering Yusei agreeing to participate in the Lucky Cup, two Dragon Seals were gathered.
As for the third one...
Yego’s call came through: "The King has arrived, Officer."
"Good."
Yugen responded, hung up, exited the room, and returned to the hall. A tall man with blonde hair arrogantly propped his leg on the sofa in the hall.
This was Jack Atlas, the second male lead of 5D’s, the strongest duelist with the name of King, and one of the Dragon Sealers.
"What’s happening, Godwin?" Jack frowned, "What did this clown say about you inviting Yusei?"
Vice Officer Yego, called a clown, didn’t mind; he maintained a sly smile standing at the side, saying nothing.
"That night, we witnessed the duel between the King and that man from the Satellite District, Yusei Fudo. We’ve known that since coming to New Tongshiyi, the King has searched for a worthy opponent all these years but hasn’t succeeded.
And Yusei Fudo is the man to satisfy you, isn’t he?"
Yugen spoke and signaled Yego, who promptly took out an envelope, handing it to Jack.
"I invited Yusei Fudo to quench the King’s thirst." Yugen said, "The King came to the city precisely for this moment, didn’t he?"
Jack remained silent for several seconds, then reached for the envelope.
He sneered, saying, "This is about my respect as a duelist, not for you, Godwin."
Yugen smiled: "Of course, I know. You may boldly go battle, King."
Jack too boarded the ship.
Three down, two left.
As for the next target...
Yugen glanced out the window at the towering building in the New Tongshiyi City district.
Akiza Izinski.
