Chapter 1049 - 1022: Do Me a Favor
"Mr. Yugi?"
Malik and her brother both looked towards the voice, momentarily feeling the light pouring in from the door was exceptionally dazzling. They instinctively raised their arms to shield their eyes. But when the light dissipated and they looked carefully, they only saw the empty doorway—no sign of Yugi was there.
Both of them turned to Yugen with puzzled looks. Yugen did not say a word, simply walked out the door, looked around. Not only was the person he saw nowhere to be found outside, but several Gravekeepers around were also casting curious glances in this direction.
Logically speaking, if someone had appeared just now, they wouldn’t have escaped these people’s sight. Earlier, Yugen thought he saw Yugi at the door, which was likely just an illusion.
Yet, he didn’t mind, smiled at the empty space as if talking to himself, and said, "Thank you, Mr. Yugi."
Everyone around found it strange. Malik also stepped forward and patted him on the shoulder, asking, "Muto Yugi... was just here?"
Yugen shook his head, "I’m not sure, maybe I just saw it wrong."
With that, he turned back inside the house.
Malik glanced around again, realizing that indeed no one else was there, felt even more puzzled, and turned back inside.
At this moment, a slim yet upright figure stood at a high place not far away, looking in the direction of the few people with a slight upward curve on his lips.
"You’re welcome."

After the matter was resolved, Yugen declined Malik and her brother’s warm invitation to stay a few more days and returned home early the next day.
However, he didn’t head straight back to Duel Academy but first made a trip to Kaiba Group. Just not wanting to yesterday—having just fought together—yet today, upon arrival, didn’t see the president.
Upon asking Keihei, he said the president seemed to have hurriedly flown abroad again, busy with some top-secret development project.
Yugen didn’t ask further; this was the norm. Seto Kaiba is almost known as the foremost technological figure on Earth now, involved in every field from biotechnology to aerospace physics.
Any subject related to cards—the Kaiba president is definitely a key developer, and it’s well-known that in this world, everything is related to cards.
But Yugen wasn’t there to see the president in the first place. He was mainly there to use Kaiba Group’s equipment to test the danger level of the three newly acquired Evil God Cards.
Of course, being something from the mysterious side can only be used for reference. The danger is surely present, but it was to aid testing whether Yugen could control it. Back then, when Kaiba Group got the Phantom God Card, they collected massive data and performed numerous tests, and now, after a decade, technology has advanced by leaps and bounds.
This process took about a week or so. During this time, Yugen, as per routine, also strolled through the Kaiba Family’s warehouse.
Although it’s rumored that Kaiba Group’s card stock is all-encompassing, in fact, even their inventory is subject to change and is not static.
Sometimes previously limited-edition rare cards reemerge and are brought back, sometimes rare cards are reprinted, and sometimes it’s their freshly produced cards, newly released or not intended for sale.
Yugen has developed a good habit of checking from time to time, occasionally finding something new.
Naturally, it’s long past the freeloading stage. Yugen is, after all, Duel King now, a person of status and position, unlike the early days when he was penniless. Now, a few cards’ small money means nothing to him, and consistently freeloading also doesn’t look good.
The test results of the Evil God Cards seemed optimistic.
Perhaps the Three Evil Gods are already in a sealed state while back when Kaiba obtained the Phantom God data, the Three Phantom Gods were at their peak, substantially different from the current Evil God’s power.
Not to mention, the originally sealed Evil Gods suffered significant damage this time, being repeatedly pounded by Judai, Kaiba, and Yugen, making their unfavorable state even worse.
Severely weakened, perhaps these Evil Gods in their original peak could drive ordinary card designers crazy, but currently, they can’t retaliate against a duelist of Yugen’s level.
But being Evil Gods, Yugen did not let his guard down. He kept the three brothers by his side for now but knew he must use caution when utilizing them in the future.

The final exam.
Another semester slipped by. Upon returning to the Academy, Yugen was surprised to find he seemed to have directly missed the final exams...
However, it wasn’t a big deal. Both the principal and the teachers had long accepted Yugen’s unique status, and though technically still a student at the Academy, as the Duel King, he essentially served as the Academy’s face.
Not only that, but even Principal Jiaodao often considered Yugen to be the Academy’s actual top leader...
If you ask the board of directors, they’d probably agree too.
Hence, in such circumstances, no one bothered to inform Yugen about the final exam. Yugen genuinely hadn’t skipped on purpose; if he remembered, he likely would have attended...
It’s no big deal; missing it isn’t a huge concern.
After the final exams ended, the Academy immediately became much quieter. Many students left directly after their exams, while those who remained mostly stayed cooped up in their dorms, rarely stepping out.
Yugen stood on the rooftop of the highest building in the Academy, overlooking the distant forests and further beyond, the sea.
The rooftop was usually a rare place frequented, and after the finals, even less so. But Yugen always liked to come here occasionally, as it was the highest point in all the Academy’s buildings. Standing here gave a feeling of having the entire island in one’s grasp.
Sometimes, this allowed him to clear his mind, ponder on recent experiences, upcoming challenges, and past gains and losses.
"In the blink of an eye, nearly three years have passed..."
Yugen murmured.
It’s the last semester. After this semester, he would graduate.
Up until now, he has handled all his opponents smoothly, and according to the original plot, the final semester boss is Darkness. This guy has already awakened as per the original story, which Yugen knows because he’s encountered Darkness’s minions before.
Darkness’s dueling level displayed in the animation was average, but its extraordinary ability to eliminate the existence of everyone worldwide was formidable, deserving caution.
Looking back on these three years, Yugen feels he has made significant progress and gained much, yet there seems to be an underlying sense of loss.
Just then, the door of the stairwell opened, and someone peeked out.
"Yugen?" Judai said quizzically, "Why are you on my spot?"
"Judai? Your spot?"
Yugen looked down at the rooftop beneath his feet.
"Haha, yes, every time I think of skipping class and want some quiet, I always come here to lie down," Judai laughed, "Although there’s no class now, I’ve gotten used to this place. If I don’t come every couple of days, I feel uneasy inside."
"Is that so? Well, you’re here just in time; I also have something I need your help with," Yugen said with a smile.
Judai waved a hand, "No problem!"
Yugen said, "I haven’t even said what it is yet."
Judai laughed, "Your business is my business, what’s there to say between us?"
"Haha, then I’ll thank you in advance. Actually, it’s no big deal."
Yugen smiled.
"I just want to borrow your Yubel."
"Eh?"
