Chapter 1034 - 789: Chonghui: My Junior No Longer Needs Me by His Side_2

Sponsored

Chonghui suddenly realized something and turned to look at the two female members, one a student and the other an executive, not far away.

It seemed like it was his first time seeing them at the Judo Hall.

But before Chonghui could say anything, Nan Zhubin already stepped forward.

"Alright then."

The new school term was about to start, and today was probably my last visit to the Judo Hall for training.

Might as well use a sparring match to validate what I learned over the past few months.

"That’s fine, Xiaogao—you go." The cauliflower-eared boss sighed in relief and waved over a blue-belted participant watching from the side, who was wearing a jiu-jitsu gi.

"A white belt, huh?" the called participant glanced at Nan Zhubin, muttering under his breath.

In Brazilian jiu-jitsu, adult ranks are divided into white, blue, purple, brown, and black belts.

Like Nan Zhubin, a newbie with just a few months of training, is naturally at the lowest white belt level.

This match between Nan Zhubin and the blue-belt guy was expected to be a "battle of the rookies."

But everyone in the hall was excited. Who cared if it was high-level or not, as long as there was a match to watch?

Sometimes, these lower-level matches have their own charm in how they’re appreciated.

"Xiaogao, let me tell you, go in and use your weight to press down on him; he looks pretty skinny and definitely can’t escape!"

"Don’t talk nonsense, he just looks pale and clean, but look at his waist, shoulders, and traps, there’s strength there."

"In my opinion, you should take his back immediately, choke him out, and it’ll be all over."

A group of coaches joined in.

Seeing this, Chonghui also stepped forward.

...

Nan Zhubin lowered his center of gravity.

The two circled around the center of the mat slowly, with small steps.

Nan Zhubin observed the blue-belt guy across from him. Although this was supposedly his "first real fight," he had tangled with Chonghui countless times.

Even though Chonghui always went easy on him, given Chonghui’s physique—honestly, Nan Zhubin felt like Xiao Li dropping his training weights during the Chūnin Exams, now facing the blue-belt guy.

"Lower your center of gravity a bit more," Chonghui suddenly spoke from the side, "you’re standing too tall, you won’t be able to stop him if he shoots in."

Nan Zhubin immediately bent his knees slightly and sat his hips back a bit.

The blue-belt guy moved first.

He extended his right hand to grab Nan Zhubin’s collar while simultaneously trying to grab Nan Zhubin’s pants with his left hand—a classic double-leg takedown.

Chonghui must have recognized the move before Nan Zhubin did, predicting the opponent’s tactic from his setup.

[How do I counter this again?]

In free fighting, so-called "anticipating moves" is mostly based on muscle memory.

But for Nan Zhubin at that moment—[Flow State·Intermediate]

[Got it.]

Before Chonghui could speak, Nan Zhubin had already stepped back with his left foot, sinking his weight and naturally locking onto the blue-belt guy’s elbow from the inside.

Pulling with his arm, Nan Zhubin directed the blue-belt guy’s arm to the side, following his forward momentum.

Thump, thump, thump—

The blue-belt guy staggered a couple of steps, but soon stabilized his stance with a firm base.

"Don’t let him grab your collar!" shouted a voice from the opposite side of the mat; it was the cauliflower-eared boss advising the blue-belt guy, "Press him down, use your weight!"

Upon hearing this, the blue-belt guy lunged forward, pressing his chest against Nan Zhubin’s, and wrapped his arms around Nan Zhubin’s waist from the outside.

Thud—

The two hit the ground simultaneously, rolling into what seemed like an endless grappling pit.

Many at the Judo Hall knew this blue-belt guy, initially thinking it was a teaching match. But with both fighters showing equal skill, it left everyone surprised.

And even more excited.

"Press down, press down, use your weight to push him!"

"Wrap your legs, I told you to wrap your legs! Lock his waist!"

"Maintain top position, maintain... Darn, you got flipped over again!"

"Tickle his feet! Break his belt! Rip his shirt! And pants... Hey, hey, what are you guys doing?!"

In the chorus of voices from big men, a few higher-pitched voices mixed in occasionally, making it hard to distinguish.

With so many tactics, it was impossible for one person to execute them all; the so-called coaching team completely turned into a cheer squad then.

The blue-belt guy explosively twisted his body to the right, flipping Nan Zhubin over from top to bottom. At the same time, Nan Zhubin felt the opponent’s right hand starting to push into his collar.

Before Nan Zhubin could react, he clearly picked out a familiar voice from the chaotic noise.

"Don’t let him pass the guard!" Chonghui’s voice came from the edge of the mat, "Bring your knee in, make a shield!"

Nan Zhubin instinctively followed the advice, immediately pushing his left knee into the gap between himself and the blue-belt guy, placing his forearm across the guy’s throat to form a frame.

The opponent’s downward pressure was halted by this frame; he couldn’t get his right hand inside, nor could he fully press down.

So the blue-belt guy decisively let go of Nan Zhubin’s collar and instead grabbed Nan Zhubin’s left leg with both hands, yanking it sideways while rolling his own body in the opposite direction.

The two of them rolled over again.

This time, the blue-belt guy straightened Nan Zhubin’s leg, pinned him from the side, trying to mount Nan Zhubin’s waist. But Nan Zhubin immediately used his right leg to push off the ground, rolling his body in the blue-belt guy’s direction. The mount position wasn’t stable before Nan Zhubin flipped them over again.

The mat resounded with consecutive dull thuds.

"Pin him! Pin him! Don’t let him roll! Your bodyweight is a huge advantage, use it to lock his hips!"

"Yes, press, press him down!"

"This is an open-weight match; weight advantage is everything, utilize it well!"

"Bridge!" Chonghui shouted, "Bridge and throw him off!"

Nan Zhubin braced his feet on the mat and thrust his hips upward powerfully. The blue-belt guy’s body was momentarily lifted by the force, and the space between his chest and Nan Zhubin’s widened instantly.

A restrained gasp echoed around the mat.

Just this move.

Nan Zhubin’s right hand snuck through the gap, grabbing the blue-belt guy’s collar from behind, while his left hand reached underneath, clasping the guy’s arm. Explosively, Nan Zhubin rolled to one side, exerting more force than ever before.

The two of them rolled over twice.

By the second roll, Nan Zhubin was already on top.

Recent training with Chonghui played like a slideshow in his mind. Instinctively, Nan Zhubin made the best choice for the situation. He pushed up the blue-belt guy’s forearm with his right hand, while his left hand slipped underneath, pressing against the guy’s brachial artery, palm facing up.

The pressure on the blue-belt guy’s neck was increasing. He frantically shook his head, trying to dislodge Nan Zhubin’s hand, but Nan Zhubin’s left hand clasped his right wrist while his legs entangled around the blue-belt guy’s waist, heels hooking in to form a secure triangle lock.

Sighs started echoing around the mat.

As expected.

Slap, slap, slap—

Three crisp taps on the mat.

Nan Zhubin instantly released all holds and retreated, sitting down on the mat.

He gasped for air, and as he breathed, the adrenaline in his body began to fade.

He saw the two excited female members engage the cauliflower-eared boss, who pulled out a clipboard with class fees printed on it, and the female members started scanning codes for payment.

After finishing all this, the two looked his way for a bit, hand in hand, preparing to come over.

However, before they got too close, Chonghui pulled Nan Zhubin to his feet first.

Chonghui looked up and down at his still-breathing-hard junior with satisfaction, "Not bad, this is only a few months in, and the other guy has over a year of training."

The reason for Chonghui’s satisfaction was that he felt he had finally left his mark on this junior, who seemed to learn everything without being taught.
