Chapter 1050 - 797: Irresistible Thoughts and Actions
As Nan Zhubin was leaving after finishing his meal, the little girl among the family of three at that table had already started crying.
The self-assured senior turned his head three times with every step, seemingly wanting to say something.
But ultimately, he was caught between wanting to speak and refraining from doing so, and in the end, he just followed Nan Zhubin out in silence.
After returning to Jingwei, the self-assured senior adjusted himself and walked back into Director He’s office with renewed vigor, plunging into the much more peculiar world of psychiatry as compared to psychology.
Nan Zhubin, on the other hand, stayed in the lounge until twenty minutes before the consultation began when he received a message indicating the specific location of his consultation room.
Just like the resources for consultants, the consultation rooms at the Mental Health Center are quite scarce. Except for psychological therapists who have fixed appointments, consultants follow a sitting arrangement system, taking turns to use the consultation rooms during normal times.
At the moment, Nan Zhubin was sitting on the sofa, browsing through the reports of the visitor who was about to arrive shortly.
Unlike the usual psychological consultations, this consultation was urgent and did not have the usual 24-hour advance appointment; however, in contrast, the initial data collection was quite thorough.
Nan Zhubin opened the documents he had received.
[Name: Jie Nianzhou

...]
Nan Zhubin raised an eyebrow.
It seems, a senior?
Maybe later, a transfer will be required due to a dual relationship— if there’s an available consultant.
In any case, today being the initial interview, the completion of the information collection section and conducting some degree of psychological education and support are at least necessary.
This is the basic operation for all consultations.
Nan Zhubin continued to flip through the results from the visitor’s psychological evaluations in the evaluation room.
As he read, he mentally planned the upcoming consultation.
Time quickly passed.
15:00
Knock knock knock——
"Come in," Nan Zhubin said in a loud voice.
Click——
The door opened, revealing two figures at the doorway.
In front was a man who looked about thirty years old, wearing a dark grey short-sleeved shirt and metal half-frame glasses. If this was the visitor, this appearance evidently reflected a part of his living environment.
However, the figure behind him surprised Nan Zhubin somewhat.
A girl in a sailor suit tugged at her skirt, with scars below it resembling striped stockings. She looked at Nan Zhubin sitting in the consultation room, her eyes wide open, mouth slightly agape.
She seemed quite surprised that Nan Zhubin was the one sitting in the consultation room.
"Excuse me, are you Teacher Nan?" The man who looked around thirty asked.
"I am," Nan Zhubin nodded. "May I ask which one is Jie Nianzhou?"
"I am," the man replied.
"Then the other must be a family member?" Nan Zhubin asked as if he didn’t recognize the girl in the sailor suit. "Could the family member please wait outside for a while?"
The understaffed Jingwei naturally wouldn’t assign a consultation assistant to Nan Zhubin, so many processes needed to be communicated by him personally.
Jie Nianzhou exchanged a few words with the girl in the sailor suit, she stepped out, and as the visitor, Jie Nianzhou closed the door.
Tss— huh—
He stood at the door, took a deep breath, and appeared somewhat nervous.
"Please sit, sit anywhere," Nan Zhubin said as he poured water for the visitor.
"Thank you."
Nan Zhubin pushed the water cup towards Jie Nianzhou’s direction, not speaking immediately but instead habitually running his gaze over the visitor, finally pausing at the triangular area on his face.
Beginning the near-instinctive collection of information.
After a single breath, Jie Nianzhou spoke first.
"Teacher Nan, did you check my previous evaluation results?"
"I did," Nan Zhubin nodded.
Jie Nianzhou pressed his thumb on the back of his hand.
[His eyelids closed slightly.]
[His nostrils didn’t flare, his mouth corners did not drop.]
"However," Nan Zhubin did not report the numbers from the scales but changed the subject, "those are just results from the scales, only a part of what can be referenced."
"Today, I’m more interested in hearing from you— what do you feel your recent condition is like?"
This was a [open-ended question].
Jie Nianzhou was silent for several seconds.
"It’s just... I feel my condition isn’t very good, so I particularly wanted to do psychological consultation."
"Teacher Nan, you’ve read my medical records, too; that’s why I wanted to adjust myself a bit."
"The person outside just now was my girlfriend. She... uh, came over this morning to help take a look. Initially, she wanted to help me directly make a psychological consultation appointment, but it wasn’t very smooth; her doctor wouldn’t let her book it for me."
"Luckily, she came quite early this morning, so quickly managed to register with another doctor with ample sources, brought me here for urgent care, did the evaluation, and finally arranged your consultation..."
The visitor spoke at length, evidently having a desire to vent.
But what he said didn’t touch upon his own issues, mostly meant to ease his tension.
"It sounds like your girlfriend really cares about you, doing a lot for you time and again. That’s wonderful." Nan Zhubin first offered [Positive Attention].
Jie Nianzhou’s mouth corners pulled upwards.
Since the visitor’s response direction was quite vague, Nan Zhubin adjusted the next questions to be more closed.
"You mentioned that you’re not in a good state; can you elaborate on this part?"
This time, Jie Nianzhou remained silent for several more breaths.
"I..." he paused, "I have a lot of... strange thoughts. I can’t stop them."
