After walking a lap around the apartment, Chen Chong decided to use the Basement Card in the kitchen.

A basement, after all, was for storing food. If he put it in his own room, it would be inconvenient for Xu Jun and the others to access it.

Even though four people lived in this three-bedroom apartment, everyone—Xu Jun, Chen Chong, and even Wang Biao and Jia Wen—greatly respected each other’s privacy and would never enter another person’s room without permission.

The floor and walls were built from blue bricks, fitted together so neatly there wasn’t a single gap.

Chen Chong had felt a bit warm before coming down, but now, standing in the basement, he felt a chill. In less than a minute, he had goosebumps.

Chen Chong walked back up the stairs and ran right into Xu Jun, who had just woken up and was coming out of his room.

When Xu Jun saw the basement, he was stunned. That shock was quickly followed by excitement, as he clearly understood its purpose.

The two of them worked quickly and efficiently, moving all the food supplies, including the cured meat, inside.

Of the three types of processed venison, only the smoked meat was completely ready. The salted and air-dried venison still needed to be smoked for another two days before they could be moved in.

Just then, Wang Biao and Jia Wen also woke up and came into the living room.

They cut off some of the venison smoking on the balcony for breakfast. With Jia Wen staying behind, the other three—Chen Chong, Xu Jun, and Wang Biao—grabbed their weapons and backpacks and headed out.

A light, steady rain was falling, like endless fine threads.

The three of them, wearing black ponchos, walked through the dense forest.

Wang Biao used a pre-prepared rope to tie the wild rabbit’s legs and placed it in his backpack, leaving only its head out to breathe.

"Sir, that was only the second trap. There are four more. Allow me to go check them."

With that, he dove back into the tall grass. Chen Chong and Xu Jun, too eager to wait, followed him in...

Ten minutes later, all six traps were laid out on the ground.

The good news was that another trap had caught a wild rabbit—a buck that could be paired with the doe.

The bad news... this buck was dead.
