Why don't you build a village on top of the world tree

Episode XXII: The Second Branch in the Cloud

Cross the duet bridge sideways through the leaves of Kista, whose autumn red has darkened, through the fourth branch aerial market.

What you can see at the end of the aerial corridor connecting to the market is a group of high-rise buildings stretching up to the branches of the cloud-no-layer.

It's just finished. It consists of three steps, the thinner it gets from the first step to the top.

Looks like a thick tower in the long run.

All six buildings in the first step are seven floors. Several types of herb growing facilities are built inside. Almost all are negative plants, and there are also moss species in them that have a medicinal effect.

There are four six-story buildings on the second stage that can be accessed from the top floor of the building. On the third step above it existed an observation deck so that it could go directly up to the branches of the cloud-no-layer.

Several hydraulic elevators can also be switched from the lowest level to the observation deck.

Few people can move today, and I'm supposed to ride the hydraulic elevator on the third stage because I have to inspect each building.

"What do you do with your name?

Melmie builds a shelter with one hand over her eyes, looks up to the side of the hydraulic elevator, and asks.

"Observation Tower"

"You stay put. Should this kind of thing be easy to understand?

"Richay told me that if I gave it an elaborate name, I would have to explain to the average customer whether I could climb it."

Coming directly below the observation tower, it can be seen that apart from the building there are pillars to support the second or more steps.

While contemplating compatibility with the walls of the building, the pillars, which had been computed and tried and erroneous in the structure, were made of a composite material of warthog nail material, in which a twat pattern depicting a double helix was carved in a geometric configuration.

"I knew it would be dim to come directly below"

"I hope it doesn't become a place where young people come to mess up at night. Amane, do you want to make an appointment with Mr. Melmie?

"You're picking up a place? I mean, it's kind of tearful, but it's built on a shitty effort."

"I'm not in the mood when you say that."

Melmie giggles.

But Melmie's right. I think we should patrol the guards at night.

"Speaking of which, that box, what?

At the tip of Melmie's finger was a big bug armor box. The height is about three meters and the width depth exceeds five meters. The top of the box was connected by a tube that exited one of the struts supporting the second and subsequent steps of the observation tower.

"It's a cistern. Store the water used in the hydraulic elevator in that cistern and supply it as agricultural water to the fields of the fourth branch."

Thanks to this, the water situation of the fourth branch is blessed. Enough to keep the expansion of agricultural land in view.

On branches that originally had an aging village of Kidato, but recently children and grandchildren who have gone outside are returning to hear rumors of takakus. Since they will be the workforce, they will also be able to cope with the expansion of agricultural land.

I'll try to get inside the building. I can go up the stairs directly to the third hydraulic elevator, but I can't finish my job without checking the equipment in this building.

Which one?

Melmie opens the door nearby and peeks inside.

"Oh, it's green on one side"

What Melmie opened was a moss-growing room. Soil and moss are laid on one side of the floor.

In addition to herbs, the facility grows several types of moss, which divides the building by several uses.

"What's here is wild bird bait, right?

"That's right. After they grow it, they're supposed to feed the wild birds in a special hut on the clouds."

Results from observations and autopsies show that wild birds eat several types of moss.

So far I don't know if it's as bait, if it means nutritional aid, or if it contains a pharmaceutically effective ingredient for wild birds.

However, the Jianqiao family, coming from Hedgeway, testified that they saw some moss eaten preferably by the coyotes.

Coyotes similar to sheep are basically raised on a nomadic basis and are managed by people called coyote keepers. A coyote who travels away from his municipality and eats the leaves of the world tree seems to stumble upon the occasional cockerel grown on the branches of the world tree.

Again, something is going to happen.

"We're going to be doing a controlled experiment after selecting healthy individuals from wild birds in special huts and dividing them into moss-giving and non-giving groups. I hope it turns out well."

"I'm not sure about that. No."

Abandoning to think lightly, Melmie began to check the room from one end when she came out into the hallway.

"Are you looking for something?

"I forgot my name, but look, the fluffy one I use to replant and stuff and absorb water"

"Oh, a tap."

It's cocky like a mistletoe.

It has excellent water absorption and drainage properties, making it easier to grow plants when the dried objects are returned with water and kept in a plant pot. It is excellent because it does not even smell and is partially diverted as a cushioning material.

"Tapple's growing up in another building. Let's head to the second step now to see it later."

This place is still on the ground floor.

Look around from the second to the seventh floor and exit into the aerial corridor that will be the rooftop. It's an air corridor by classification, but it's big enough for the building to ride. The feel transmitted through the sole of the shoe is stiff, an aerial corridor with a metallic impression along with the dull gloss characteristic of the Devil's Beetle.

"The second stage building is still empty, isn't it?

"Not now. We're going to store collections that can't be displayed in a museum or use them in a storage bin for the preservation of valuable seeds."

There are also other storage depots, such as residential materials for the fourth branch, which will need to be rebuilt in the future.

Sometimes the village of Kidato, which was originally on this branch, was ageing, and many houses have been painful with their inhabitants. I'm talking about several rebuilds since the establishment of the village of Kidato, but I still see several aging houses.

Although we are not immediately talking about this, it is a stage where discussions are also taking place with the former inhabitants of the village of Kidato in an effort to just prepare them.

The contents go inside an empty building. Six stories, but mostly buildings in exterior. The same applies to the first stage building group, but these buildings are designed to be recognized as a single structure, including the third stage hydraulic elevator, by daring to simplify their appearance.

Looking over the entire takakus, but only in fairly large structures, when there are categorical decorations in the first and second steps, it becomes very annoying to look at and not be in harmony with the surroundings.

After completing the internal inspection of the second stage building, exit to the third stage.

"You're high on boulders when you get here."

"You can see all the air markets."

Melmie puts her hand on the handrail and looks over the aerial corridor under her eyes.

I know to get to the movement of people, it was just the right distance.

The only area you can see from this third aerial corridor is the entire fourth branch and part of the third branch, one of the duet bridges connecting the two branches.

Look out over the landscape, then I look over the hydroelectric elevator I'm about to ride.

A few thick ropes made of yarn from Bird Eater Spider supported the building with the hydraulic elevator from the top.

The unique design of the world tree is to hang and support the structure of the subcloud layer by draping rope from the branches of the inner cloud layer.

Although I had heard it from my master, Mr. Flengs, during my training years, I am surprised by the stability of it when I actually design it. The strength of the branches of the world tree is out of the ordinary orbit because if the rope is of bearable weight, it can theoretically be hoisted by as many tons.

Amanda, hurry up and be alone in the closet.

"I'll tell you what, 'cause I'm at work, right?

I walk over to the door too, paying attention to Melmie, who invites me in front of the hydraulic elevator.

Melmie looks around the elevator as she opens the door made of Devil's Bug nail material and rides into a box-shaped hydraulic elevator.

"Was it a ten-man?

"The capacity will be ten people and a lot of guests will use it with their luggage, so it's actually designed to be okay up to fifteen people"

The chairs are lined up across the street from each other in five seats, and the interior is spacious for the price because the chairs are a little apart from each other.

In response to Melmie, I close my mouth to the black cylinder next to the door.

"Ready. If you count to twenty, move it."

- Copy that.

Make sure your voice comes back from the black cylinder, and I'll get in the hydraulic elevator too.

"Sounds like Voice Kan is working."

"You're interacting with the top, aren't you? Will the customers who will continue to use it speak up?

"I'm gonna hire an elevator crew."

It's the one they call an elevator girl or a boy.

So much less, the elevator starts moving.

It goes up diagonally rather than vertically, making it quite a fresh experience for me to remember from my previous life.

"It's moving. It's moving!"

Seeing Melmie haunt me like a child, I decided to stay calm.

For safety reasons, the elevator cannot be seen outside because it has a complete box shape with no windows. Initially we planned to make the top of the wall look like a window with clear demon worm wings like the Ferris wheel, but it came in because we couldn't ensure strength.

We look forward to the advent of toughened glass. If I could discolor the Devil's Beetle, it would be a transparent material with sufficient strength.

The elevator stopped when I was thinking about the lack of clamping.

I'll open the door and go outside.

"Two more times, you're gonna repeat this, right?

See the next hydroelectric elevator door with Melmie's excited face.

It is a hydroelectric elevator that goes up to roughly five hundred meters, but it also goes up by less than two hundred meters divided into three groups for convenience of space, safety and inspection.

That's why we're going for the top floor after two rides, as Melmie said.

"Audio transmission Kan, Mr. Melmie wants to use it too!

"Yes, yes, go ahead"

It is a five-year-old shabby who was given a hanko for the first time.

The Hedgeway Jianqiao family was communicating with Voice Kan to welcome us to the top floor twice to successfully complete the ride.

"Good day. How was your ride?

"It's Saiko!

The Jianqiao family put their arms together and nodded satisfactorily when Melmie, who was still haunted, gave her immediate thoughts.

"You will, you will"

Even for me, the hydraulic elevator ride was very satisfactory. The speed was the slow one, and the story of the blah blah blah blah. It was about as fast as going up the stairs myself. But it didn't shake at all.

"The challenge is only to freeze it in the winter."

"It has been developed as well as frozen liquid, but given the cost of maintenance and treatment, it is still far from practical. First, you should check regularly to prevent the tube from bursting due to volume expansion during freezing."

"I understand."

While we talk about how to operate, I approach the observatory window.

"I want to come and see this once and for all."

The fourth branch, of course, has a view, including the Takowka fields and the Takakus Theatre of the third branch, and the public and private halls of the first branch. If I stared, I could see farther into the Takakus school of the second branch.

"Look, binoculars"

"It's good to be ready"

Glancing in with the binoculars given to the Jianqiao family, you can see the entire cloudless no-layer of the Takakus.

It's a fantastic view of the observation deck.

"Show Melmie."

Pass the binoculars to Melmie, who is coming.

"Oh, I wonder if it's a spectacular view. Looks like you should be able to lend me binoculars."

"Right. We should have about five."

I guess I looked around the whole way.

"Well, let's finally look at the capacity of the second branch and reservoir in the cloud"

The second branch of the cloud-no-layer, which still only houses the reservoir, is just above this observation deck. You'll come and go by stairs or water elevators, but this time you decide to go up the stairs because there's no one to operate it up there.

Upon ascending the spiral staircase, which was designed to allow space for use in the hydraulic elevator, we quickly arrived at the branches of the cloud-no-layer.

Nothing. There's just a pounding cistern and a plumbing stretching out of it.

"I wonder if I need a management cabin first. Then, the building of a bridge that connects the first branch of the clouds and the museum."

The design of the museum is over, and we have a budget. There is no more waste in building a museum first and a management cabin in parallel work.

"You'll start construction tomorrow."

"Let's just build it."

"... the Founding Fathers of Takakus are really workers"

As half-hearted, the Jianqiao family murmured.
