Why don't you build a village on top of the world tree

Lesson 34: The Skyscraper Corridor Program Begins

In the spring, the Heavenly Tower Corridor project began in earnest.

Even if we call it a full-scale start, this time it's foundation work. The plan is to make steep gradients and cliffs accessible and ready as a minimum path.

I had previously called the Jianqiao family from the town of Hedgeway to build a road between me and the city of Kattera. This time, I will lead the scene alone in the cloud.

"I feel like I've grown something"

"If I hadn't nibbled on this, it would have been worth relying on..."

Richay follows my cheek in a grin.

I want you to forgive me enough to immerse me in a good mood to experience growth for a long time.

Richay expands the map.

"The north side of the world tree is takakus, so Amane will be in charge of design and construction. This time until the summer when the sun gets stronger, proceed with the construction of the foundation and materials storage area."

"Copy that. Melmie, gather everyone together. We're leaving."

"Yes. Richay, I'll leave you a message."

"I've been entrusted. That's right, let me know by letter if you need anything. I'll send it right away."

Richay says as Melmie holds both hands and shakes them probably up and down.

During the construction period, a tent will be set up near the construction site of the no-layer on the cloud to stay at night. Because I have come to the conclusion that from Takakus to the city of Kattera, near the trunk of the world tree, it would be better to stay asleep at the site if it were enough to take just a few days to get around.

I look around at the craftsmen and then at the Devil's Bug Hunters at the escort.

For once, I'm bringing a bow, too, but I'm basically going to leave perimeter alert to the other Devil Bug Hunters.

"Billows, I'm sorry"

Speak up to Bilose, who binds the Devil Bug Hunter. I knew I had some inn work to do, but Billows, who is aware of the dangers of hunting in the cloud no-layer and around the trunk, pulled it off this time because he's an essential person.

Billows opens his mouth checking for bow string tension.

"I was worried my arm would be dull due to lack of exercise. Don't worry about it. And only in the spring. Don't go back to the inn when you've educated the amateurs."

"Really bad, I asked"

Other members include the Devil Bug Hunter with a short, juicy bow. With this member's substantial strength, the amateurs Billows said perform reconnaissance and so on as reserve power.

We need more power than we can get close to the trunk of the world tree.

There are demon worms in this world. Naturally, there is also a kind of lack of ability to fly.

The only way for such demonic worms to climb the world tree is through the trunk. It is a common perception in this world that many types of troubles are large and tough for the devil bugs climbing the trunk instead of scarce ability to fly.

Some of them are not very strong snail shaped demon worms called megas nails that carry chunks of calcium that become lacquered material, but you have to be careful.

The Heavenly Tower Corridor Plan on the north side of the World Tree also aims to allow the smooth transport of supplies and personnel to towns near the trunk, and the corridor is to be stretched nearby.

The north side of the world tree clusters together as a huge residential area if people and things are easier to get to and from in the Heavenly Tower Corridor. In order to protect this, we need a jetty around the trunk against demon bugs that can be a threat.

"Then let's go. The Warbug Hunters ask for reconnaissance."

I gave Billows instructions, and we left Takakus.

When we arrived at the steep gradient, about seven metres high, a group of artisans began working sideways with the warthog hunters who began to erect tents.

Amane, we're ready.

Nodding to Melmie, I give instructions to the craftsmen.

"The facility to be built will be used as a material storage area during the construction period, but it will be used as a rest area at dawn when the Heavenly Tower Corridor is completed"

Unlike usual, let them know that it is not something to be demolished after construction, and get the construction started.

It's a two-story building where about twenty people can sleep. Due to the need for rugged construction to accommodate demonic bug raids, demonic bug armor is incorporated everywhere.

It's not a stop, it's only a rest stop, so it's not that massive.

The building is shaped like a roof on a rectangle, but it uses columns of Demon Bug nail material to increase strength everywhere. It is meant to prevent the wall from collapsing even if it is stormed during a demonic bug raid. The unique luster of the Devil's Beetle in the wall is a good accent.

Skylights have been eliminated from the problem of strength, but double windows were employed on both the first and second floors. The no-layer on the cloud cools all at once at night because the air is dry. The night will be the main time for travellers and pedestrians coming along the heavenly corridor to use the lounge, so double windows will increase the insulation and ensure that the interior of the building warms up quickly.

If it's going to increase the insulation, it's more effective to scrap the windows themselves, but we need windows so we can alert and intercept the demon bugs.

"Melmie, take the women and make the walls around the building."

"You're an example. Leave it to me."

Melmie takes the women craftsmen and brings a number of small Devil Bug nails from the material storage area.

There was a lot of trouble with the walls that made the buildings not to be attacked directly by demonic worms.

As a result, it was decided to turn the Devil's Bug Nail into a building block. Pretty pricey substitute, but its sturdy with origami and minimal maintenance.

Maintenance should be easier because this rest stop is not a place of residence just because the Devil Hunter is dispatched on a regular basis as an administrator.

Melmie stacks the Devil's Beetle on the spot and explains it to other craftsmen.

"There's a brick-style paint that Amane invented, right? This time, it's actually a form of piling up bug armor."

I've had the idea of stacking Demon Bug nail material instead of bricks for a long time, but on top of the fact that it looks completely different, I also had price issues and I refused to. You don't need a sturdy substitute for a wall of Devil's Worm armor all over town first.

But things are different this time. Anyway, we have to make it a sturdy building.

I observe the craftsmen's movements and look to the side. There was a city of Katella as I turned my gaze south on the branches of the cloud-no-layer below the cloud-no-layer where I was standing now.

Is the source of the slight smell of smoke drifting in the wind the city of Cuttera?

I didn't expect the smell of smoke to come this far, but I have measures in place, so no problem.

"Amane, you're a steep gradient, but you can stay behind because the support branches haven't grown yet, right?

Melmie comes and points to the steep gradient.

In order to even the steep gradient, a loose slope with supporting branches is to be created this time. If the Heavenly Tower Corridor is completed, people will come from all over the world trees, so we need support branches instead of pillars that support the weight to ensure the road width.

The supporting branches planted on the steep gradient pointed out by Melmie are growing a little slower. Because it's a creature, there are things like this, and because we knew that we wouldn't be able to grow in time in a pre-survey, we add it when we plan to.

"The slopes are behind us. Once the material storage is complete, we'll go to the next site and build it when we get back."

"So you haven't been transported wood or anything."

I thought you said that at yesterday's meeting.

Just in case, the working craftsmen are notified that they will be behind on the slopes.

Work went well.

Speaking of fortifications in this world, there is a log-house-type fortifications for antidemonic worms around the trunk of the world tree. There is no war between people, so it is the first facility you will never see unless you are a warworm hunter.

It is a building close to the Ostrog where we call it in medieval Russia, a wooden fortress composed of objects towers, etc.

But this time the rest stop I'm building has an appearance closer to a Japanese fort.

The skyscraper corridor can also be the main road on the north side of the world tree, so each skyscraper, east, west, north and south, is set to enhance the regional color by arranging its own tasteful buildings. Japanese-style architecture was adopted on the north side with the takakus.

Melmie builds up warthog armor such as brick-style. The walls also have different shapes and sizes of warthog armor, so they are somewhat closer to stone piles. Although I may be personally dissatisfied with not looking like a stone wall due to the gloss issue, I have no choice but to compromise.

In time, I would also like to study the processing method that looks like a stone wall, but I don't have time. If I throw a round at a researcher in Yoinsley, he's going to be happy to do it, but I'd also like to do it from development to increase the presence of Takakus.

While doing so, Melmie and the others worked on the construction of the fence. The walls surrounding the outer perimeter of the rest stop emit sharp light around them with the gloss of the worm armor used. It was giraffed to strike back the direct sunlight of the no-layer on the cloud as it was.

I think after another year or two, the surface of the Devil's Beetle will degrade due to sunlight and the reflectance of the light will also decrease, but it's going to glow depressingly for a while.

"Hey, Amane, there's a water truck coming from the city of Katella."

If Billows slapped me on the shoulder and turned me in the face, I heard a coyote car coming from Katella City was about to come loaded with water.

Does the inspection go hand in hand, or does Mr. Kulweh, the next Mayor of Kattella, appear on the stand of the coyote car?

Mr. Krewe came down from the coyote car that stopped by my side.

"Hi, looks like the construction is going well"

Mr. Krewe comes to his voice as he narrows his eyes to the glowing walls.

"The groceries should arrive soon, but are you ready to accept them?

"Billows, where's the tent?

"I'm out of tension."

At the tip of Bilose's finger was a large tent similar in shape to Mongolian gel. It is a sturdy tent made from felted coyote hair, used as a base by the Demon Bug Hunter in his expedition.

Though there is no rain in the clouds, strong winds blow through and bugs gush. Food and water need to be kept in a tent-like place.

I turn back to the owner of the coyote car that Mr. Krewe came in.

"Bring it into that tent. Billows, I need guidance. Take some Devil Bug Hunters and keep them educated."

When storing water and food, the storage area in the tent is determined to some extent to make it easier to get in and out. Ask Billows to educate some amateurs who don't have much experience with expeditions this time around.

As Billows spoke to several Devil Bug Hunters and saw them head with the Coyote car to the tent, Mr. Kruwe took the map out of his pocket while checking the location of the Katella city.

"The north side of the world tree has changed dramatically since the takakus were made. Heavenly Hall Corridor, was it, the ancients of Kattera were happy to cry? He said he could stand a milestone in his time while he was alive. We young generations are enthusiastic, and we look forward to completing it."

"Thank you. The Heavenly Tower Corridor project will also be addressed by the entire world tree, so you will also ask the city of Kattera for support. This year, it's okay because it's just the foundation work, but I think I'll be asking for a bridge-builder or artisan dispatch next year."

The skyscraper corridor on the north side of the world tree is almost uniform in my design, but I would also like regional colors if I saw it just on the north side. It is also to be designed in collaboration with the typical bridge-builders of the city and town.

Tacax alone is overwhelmingly understaffed because it's a massive project at any rate. In this respect, it differs from the old skyscraper Yoinsley and Beautellarm.

Dispatching people takes more effort than money to extract supplies, etc. But Mr. Kulweh smiled invincibly just saying he was rather welcome.

"I can't let Takakus dress like me all the time. Young people in the city of Kattella also have to prove in this plan that they have enough strength to be entrusted by the generations above"

"If that's how it goes, are you about to become mayor?

"Yeah, you're right. Tell Mr. Richay and Mr. Melmie too."

Mr. Kruwe returned to the city of Katella, saying that he would go to Takakus next time to greet him.

It's called having a child at Markt's, and there's a sign that our generation is gradually becoming the spindle.

I still have a lot to learn, but am I old enough to put backward nurturing into perspective?
