Why don't you build a village on top of the world tree

Episode 35: Stop Design Competition

"Yoinsley, Mr. Melmie's here."

"Ooh, there you are"

My uncle in the stall puzzles me back to the triumph report for Melmie by Melmie.

Melmie smiled at my uncle.

"Hi, hi."

"Hi, this is me. Hi. Tourism, huh?

"I'm going home. Uncle, I'll have two skewers of koyo momomo meat."

"Maido"

I just bought a skewer of coyotes from my uncle at the stall and Melmie comes back and offers me one.

"I'm sorry."

"Ooh, I'll have it"

Delicious. The dried mushrooms are powdered and then covered in skewers, an exquisite flavor with a fluffy mushroom aroma.

Eating mushrooms makes me feel like I've come to the fictional skyscraper Joynesley. The specialty has to be like this.

"Melmie's gonna show her face to her parents, right?

"That's right. I'll also bring you a special blended herbal tea with Richay stamps. Amane's going to the venue like this? Maybe a little early."

"Right."

The purpose of coming to Yoinsley today is to see the announcement of the results of the stop design competition and the awards ceremony.

While recalling the text of the announcement about the award ceremony delivered to Takakus, I look up to the Yoinsley Cloud No-Layer.

"Maybe when Kanes is already here, I'll stop by the orphanage and then head to the venue. Melmie should relax at her parents' house. Can you tell him I'm gonna show my face later, too?

"Okay. I'm going to love your adoptive fathers, so take it easy, Amane."

"You're about to be tightened up by the manager the minute you show your face"

I walk up the stairs to the air corridor, dropping off Melmie as she rushes toward the workshop in the wooden cage where my parents live.

Nevertheless, it's been a long time since I've been to Yoinsley.

Although things haven't changed particularly, some of the air corridors, stores, etc. have been rebuilt and are a little newer than they were when I set up my office here.

I am not lost because the building is just new and the arrangement of roads and air corridors has not changed.

On the way, stop at the Joynesley Orphanage, which is also Richay's home.

The orphanage I rebuilt before I became still a bridge-builder was there in the same position. I can hear the kids making noise from inside, but all the kids who already know me and Richay will be in the hospital.

"I'm sorry"

Speaking inside, a mid teenage girl who was nearby saw this one.

"Will you call the Dean? If you say Amane's here, maybe you'll find out."

I've contacted you to send a letter and stop by before you leave Takakus.

The girl nods silently and walks to the dean's office. I wonder why. You look like the type of kid who's hard to handle but can work.

So much so that the dean came with the girl. Why is it that the dean is supposed to be higher in position, but the girl is totally more visible in character?

"Welcome. I have a letter for you."

"I'm glad it seems to have arrived safely. This is from Richay, this is from me."

Pass Richey's special blended herbal tea tea leaves and sink smoked breast to souvenirs. Although the tea leaves are not that numerous, the sinks weigh quite a bit because they have been numbered to keep the kids from fighting.

"Are you this good? The sink would be expensive."

"If it's Yoinsley, the transportation costs will also be considerably increased. If you buy it from Takakus, it won't be that much."

Plus, the sink-related costs are out of my pocket money. I mean, I'm getting it at cost, and it's not like I'm worried though it's expensive.

Is it hard enough to say that Marcto, who cried a bee when he tried to take a consolidated number? Marcto occasionally comes to his dreams as he mouths the spill, the spill, like a rumor.

"Now that we're working on poultry for hello birds, I'll send them when we succeed"

"You're a hello bird! Because it's delicious. I'm really looking forward to it. Is Richay well?

"Yeah, I'm worried I'm a little packed for work these days, but I'm doing fine,"

"Right. That's good. A lot of times I don't know if it's just a letter. When it comes to job packing, Amane, why don't you take one of your walks with me and try to change your mood?"

Hit me on the shoulder with a laugh, and the dean turns his eyes to the clouds.

"Are you going to be at the design competition award ceremony? It's time to go."

"I still have time, though?

"We're in the process of rebuilding some of the aerial corridors in the cloud-no-layer. We should have to go a little further. I'm sure they're working on it. It's near the pharmacy in the clouds."

"Oh, it's a lot old around there, isn't it? Ok. If that's what you're saying, you should probably go now."

I'll thank the director and leave the orphanage behind.

A sign appeared when I crossed the bridge to the cloud-no-layer. It says, as the director said, that the replacement work is taking place near the pharmacy.

I picked a slightly farther route and walked out, and when I plugged into the mall I found a familiar face at the end of the road.

"- Kanes, are you even picking souvenirs?

Speak from the side to Kanes, who seemed to rarely see dry mushrooms in the mall.

I knew I was already in the venue, so it was unexpected to see him here, but he felt the same way over there. Looking back as if surprised by my voice, Kanes broke up with me.

"What, Amane? I thought it was someone."

Kanes says relieved, pointing to the dried mushrooms arranged at the store.

"I don't know which mushroom Ettle asked me to have."

Mr. Ettle was certainly a highly knowledgeable cook at Kanes'.

Fishing my memory and remembering Mr. Ettle's face, I look ahead to the store. This is a tourist shop and deals with various other dried mushrooms.

"What kind of mushroom do you want?

"It smells refreshing and seems to be something tingly spicy"

"Oh, that one"

In my brain, he's called Anztake. I forgot my official name.

I take red mushrooms shaped like maytakes from the dried mushrooms in line.

This is it.

"Is that true?

"If you doubt it, you just have to ask the store people. Excuse me, can I have a word?

When I rang inside, my aunt, about eight hundred years old, came out.

Explain the situation and get confirmation, and Kanes will do his job in the clear.

Somehow, I remembered a show that shoots a whole bunch of shopping after a young kid from a previous life.

"Congratulations!"

"Don't feel like you're making fun of me!?

Blessed with applause, Kanes returns a scratch in disgruntlement.

We meet anyway, so we walk out toward the cloud-no-layer together.

"Amane may be asking, but the total number of applications has risen to quite a few."

"If you hear you're going to build on the clouds, you're going to get tempered."

It's a stop in the Heavenly Tower Corridor, so if it's done, people come from all over the world trees. In that case, the designer's name should certainly spread.

"I hope the venue seats are still empty."

Try to gaze at a venue that you can see in the distance as you cross the bridge to the no-layer on the cloud. You have better eyesight, but I don't know if people are in there from here.

"When the winner stands by, he's a little underdressed."

"Kanes is confident."

"Naturally. I'm going to take first place and I'm applying."

I laugh bitterly at Caines, who puts his chest up confidently.

Tickets were distributed at the venue. Get a ticket that says Kanes and number 45 in a row and enter the venue.

Apparently the numbers are swinging from seat to seat. The chair number 45 was at the end.

Transfer your gaze to the drapes behind the venue as you sit alongside Kanes.

"You have quite a personality."

Though I thought the design width was not that great because it had to be designed with the addition of defensive abilities against demonic worms, etc., all the desserts affixed to the drapes were full of personality.

There are several distinguished works among them.

"That top to the right end of the third step, it's Caines', isn't it?

"Amane's fifth from the left edge of the second step from the bottom, right?

Find each other's listings and exchange high touches knowing they're right from the look on their faces.

Our offerings stood out enough to be found in nearly a hundred pieces.

"- Thank you for waiting so long. We are pleased to announce the results of the Design Competition for Heavenly Tower Corridor Coyo Car Stop, hosted by Yoinsley"

The seat had not yet been filled, but the host, who went up on the stage, began the award ceremony. Perhaps the other participants could not leave the scene at work.

If you look around, there are less than fifty people in the venue. I couldn't discover anyone I knew other than Kanes. I guess we're all busy, including our master, Mr. Friends.

"I wonder what the absent will do if they win the prize?

groans as Kanes looks back at the vacant seat in wonder.

"Isn't shipping awards a stream later?

"You don't taste it, that. I was wondering if you'd be scheduling the award ceremony in advance."

"If you don't hear from me, we won't be honored."

"So you're not"

Caines flips the foreword lightly. I am confident.

As we speak, the host takes the eyeglass case out of his pocket and hangs it, reading out the manuscript at hand.

"Two hundred and thirty total applications. The result was one hundred and forty-seven unselected cases. I suspect that those who are not selected will receive a reasoned general review, but many do not envisage a demonic bug raid or are not capable of withstanding it"

After all, watch the submissions posted on the drapes, convinced that there was a split between whether or not the devil worm control was in place. Everything that's been pasted out looks like a piece to be selected.

"As I mentioned earlier, the evaluation items include the fact that the devil worm control is in place, the incorporation of various facilities, the smell control of coyotes, and aesthetics."

After the MC explains it roughly, send a signal to the stage sleeve.

Then the drapes were pulled up and blueprints of what looked like the winning piece appeared from behind.

"The work we see behind us has become the third place winner in this tournament. The World Tree is an applicant from the city of Tramia to the west."

When it comes to the western city of Tramia, it should have been an area that inherited the architectural style of Beauterrum in colour.

However, the applications presented on stage had a rather unique appearance.

"It's a bizarre look, but I think you'll find that the internal structure makes it very reasonable. The building itself looks like a square pile of round-tails, but it is a structure that allows surveillance and vigilance on all sides, as well as reinforcements and material support on all sides from the central tower. In addition, around the central tower, there is no need for users to walk around in vain, packing Tsuyoko cars heading all over the world trees."

The MC points near the center of the overlooking view with an indicator bar.

It is a so-called rotary, and because of its presence in the center of the building, it is easy to bring guests together in one place even when a demonic bug strikes. Since the walls on all sides create shade, it is also advantageous not to be exposed to direct sunlight while waiting for the Tsukiyo car, even in the no-layer on the cloud.

The exterior is close to the way Marutai is assembled when camping fire, well girder assembly. It's a way to stack two vertical and two horizontal in parallel.

What you can read from the blueprint is that the well girder assembly is done with a fairly giant branch of the world tree, and it seems to be shaped to creep through the interior to create a passable space. The attempt to use the tenacity of the branches of the world tree as a barrier as it is is is interesting.

Inevitably, a gap can be made in relation to creating a wall surface with a well girder combination, but this gap is blocked by another giant blind with a vertical array of Demon Bug nails. It is designed to prevent the entry of demonic worms from the gap area while at the same time improving ventilation and escaping the smell of coyotes.

After arranging a selection reason that I could see that Yoinsley was only choosing and weighing in on functionality, the MC held up his glasses quickly.

"It's a great design, but, unfortunately, we've settled into the form of a third-place prize because there are too many Demon Bug Hunters to run it."

The form of sending personnel from the centre against the squared barrier appears to soften at first sight the battle forces that reside on all sides.

The problem, however, is that rotaries exist in the centre and evacuees return to the centre in case of an emergency. Of course, there are lines in the blueprints that direct evacuees, but not all of them follow the guidance. Kids can get lost and flutter.

Problems were so close to the evacuee's flow line that when operating it became necessary to organize personnel so that customers would not be distracted by the Demon Bug Hunter's interception flow line.

Also, the MC hasn't touched it, but there is one thing I have overlooked about this design.

"That look doesn't go with the town behind you..."

Kanes squeals small. I guess that's something that bothers me as Kanes, who is appreciated for his exterior beauty.

I was thinking the same thing, so I snort back.

"As an individual, I think it would be highly regarded, but it's too original and deviates from the Tenkai Corridor philosophy. Still, that's the third best I've ever seen."

The bold idea of creeping through and using the branches of a giant world tree is just interesting, and I regret it while other people.

An attendant comes out of the stage sleeve and takes a message board with a three-position blueprint to the side. It was Kanes' blueprint that emerged from behind.

"This is an application from Kanes, the founder of the southern skyscraper Aquas. This one, which has a truly brave appearance, is the result of second place. The appearance of a parquet based on Mitna trees, a reddish material, is visible because it captures the tones of various wood. In addition, there is a gap between the dark material and the material, creating a narrow space that is difficult to discover in the eyes of the Devil Bug, creating an integrated defense for the Devil Bug Hunter."

Seriously.

Arm next door and look sideways at Kanes, who is determining the Doya face.

Taking my gaze, Kanes laughs.

"It was in the hallway of the Aerial Theatre designed by Amane that the idea was cut off."

That's what I say, Kanes scratches his cheek.

The Aerial Theatre was built just before I got excited about Takakus, a building integrated with the bridge.

The hallways of the aerial theatre, however, cover the whole area with walls and place a number of very small windows for light mining near the ceiling and floor. From inside and out, the lighting windows so small that you would never notice them if you didn't try to be careful were part of creating an open stage against the backdrop of the sky that existed at the end of the dim corridor.

Did you remortgage that lighting window to create a narrow space that was hard to spot from the demonic worm? It is arranged with the type of material in mind so as not to affect the appearance even when viewed in a person's eyes.

But this still seems to be second place.

"Good harmony with the surroundings prevents the odor from spreading by limiting the compartments used by the coyotes of things that are slightly difficult to ventilate. It is also well equipped with the ability to intercept demonic worms. Combining diverse wood is one of the most appropriate stops in the skyscraper corridor that connects all of the world's trees."

The MC continues to talk about the complimented momentum of Kanes' design.

"It was without a complaining base, but it was decided that the hiring proposal I was going to introduce would be better."

"- Huh...?

Kanes, who was deciding on Doya's face, groans small, stiff.

When the MC waved, the attendant, who was holding back on the stage sleeve, sidestepped a bulletin board with Kanes blueprints on it.

"- This will be the best in the tournament now."

That's what the MC pointed out. It was my design proposal.

"Designed by Amane, founder of the North Skyscraper."

Does it look a little mediocre when Kanes is served after the praise he's given, because he's been looking at it for a long time as a designer?

I look at the complexion of the participants in the venue, including Kanes, thinking so.

I don't see any particular discontent going up, but I don't know why this is the best kind of face.

Without looking concerned about the atmosphere of the venue, the MC fixes the position of the glasses and starts explaining.

"Let me introduce you first from a practical point of view. This piece takes the shape of a treehouse, but by limiting the compartment to be allocated to coyotes, which Mr. Caines also used, under the building, breathability is ensured while counteracting odors. It's cool because it's a shade beneath the building, preventing the coyotes from getting heat shots."

The MC points under the building and explains, then moves inside the building.

"We focus our guests on the ground floor part of the tree house as a waiting area and a rest area, so that when things happen, we can move quickly to an evacuation area that is also on the ground floor. From the evacuation area, loose slopes continue outside, and even fires do not interfere with evacuation."

Due to its design as a treehouse, an evacuation route that allowed the building to quickly escape to the outside was essential because of its presence at height. It is also in the form of protecting evacuees by covering the sides and overhead with plaid warthworm armor, rather than in the form of exposure outside to be attacked by warthworms.

It's just in case a demon bug strikes at the same time as a fire.

"On the second floor there is a dining space and the third floor part is an accommodation, which is attempted to be arranged according to the length of the guests' stay. In addition, it almost completely separates the flow lines of the warbug hunters that hit the guests and the defenses."

"- Are you serious?

A bewildered voice rises from the venue.

Kanes glanced at the blueprint with a crease between his eyebrows and opened his mouth.

"True. Almost completely divided in that little building. It's just Amane's design and practical focus, but shall we do it this far...... You're good at puzzles and stuff, aren't you?

"Well, you're not bad"

Don't let customers get lost in the wrong way. However, the design was designed to allow the Demon Bug Hunter to focus on interception in small numbers, and a voice scan is also passed to enable rapid reporting from the surveillance towers on all sides to all locations.

MC continues to talk as the upset propagates from the participants who confirmed from the blueprint that MC's words are not lies.

"As I explained earlier, only the founder of the Takakus who crusaded Cyrillic Giri is very capable of defense. So, how about in appearance? This is excellent integration with the town behind what is slightly beyond Mr. Caines, while at the same time pushing trees to the table as treehouses"

The host shows the compartment under the building in which the Tsuko-Koyo car enters with an instruction stick.

"It heals the branches of the host tree and takes them to the shape of an arcade after serving as branches of the consortium. It is designed in harmony while providing shade coolness while utilizing the tenacity of raw trees. In particular, it is wonderful that the branches of the league fit the philosophy of the Heavenly Tower Corridor"

It is as much a compliment as it was when Kanes.

It seems, however, that the participants have no objection either. It looked regrettable, but I could see how convinced I was.

The only one who doesn't look remorseful. Kanes arms up.

"Second consecutive defeat after reaching the skyscraper."

"You don't look very sorry."

"Well, there's over nine hundred more years to go, and I hope I win next. I'm sorry to hear that, but winning or losing sounds like a better enemy, doesn't it?

"Oh, I can tell you that."

"- Winners, please come to the stage."

I stood up with Kanes when the host called me, gazing at me.
