Chapter 306 - 214: Selling Skills, Not My Body
Business name pre-approval, signing legal documents, submitting the registration application, obtaining the business license, creating and registering official seals, and finally, opening a bank account and registering for taxes.
Serene had to arrange all of this. The new company had no employees yet, and Yang Hui felt it was too much to hand everything over to her. After all, she hadn’t resigned from NLB Brand Company yet, and her job there still demanded a significant portion of her energy.
"Don’t you worry about this stuff. Just focus on opening up the sales channels. That part isn’t really my strong suit."
Yang Hui was naturally confident about this part. Besides, President Tian was about to become a Regional General Manager. Xinyue Group only had five major sales regions in total, and now two of them would be run by his "big brothers." This meant he could easily secure half of Xinyue Group’s territory. As for the other regions, Brother Chun had also said he could help coordinate. Yang Hui knew his personality—when Brother Chun said he could coordinate, it meant he could definitely get it done.
-----------------
Zen had been open for a week. From last Saturday to this Friday, its sales had been boosted by the mall’s consumer subsidy vouchers. Combined with the early-stage publicity and promotion, the results were obvious: sales for the week had reached 1.4 million. However, it was clear that over the past few days, the initial pool of eager customers had been mostly depleted. The subsidy voucher event only had two days left, and starting next Monday, the store would enter a period of baseline sales. Still, based on the current situation, Zen’s baseline sales were projected to be better than NLB’s.
Publishing these sales reports for days on end not only greatly boosted the morale of Yanghe Commerce’s employees but also set the entire Qingjiang business world abuzz. Yanghe Commerce had gone from an obscure, overlooked little company to a hot commodity in the eyes of various shopping centers. After all, the brand they managed was good, and their operational strength was the real deal. Bringing a tenant like that into a mall meant a win for both reputation and revenue. Who wouldn’t love a merchant like that?
No, there was someone. Li Yang, for one, was not happy at all.
In his office, he asked Dan Biao, "When can that kid from Huasheng Commerce start?"
’Seeing Yanghe Commerce’s sales reports every day is making me lose sleep. All of this should have been mine! We’re probably talking several million in profit this month, and it just flew right out of my pocket. That Yang Hui is infuriating!’
’Fortunately, President Tian is about to be dismissed. I’ll make sure to build a good relationship with the new regional manager, President Zhao. Then I can get more support for regional cooperation in the future. After this incident with President Tian, that Zhang Chun will probably have to pull back a bit, right? He’s lost a key subordinate. He’s bound to blame Yang Hui. After all, how much personal profit can Yang Hui really bring him? Having a regional manager who’s on your side is the very foundation for a Regional General Manager’s power base.’
’He got taken out just for cooperating with Yang Hui. And Yang Hui has only opened a few stores; Zhang Chun can’t be making that much from it. Compared to losing a regional manager, it’s a massive loss for him.’
Judging others by his own standards, he was certain Zhang Chun would shift the blame to Yang Hui. Once Yang Hui’s backer was gone, he would be finished. The glory of Yanghe Commerce would be nothing more than a flash in the pan.
As he thought of this, a cold, sinister smile crept onto his lips. His rage meter for Yang Hui was basically maxed out. The moment Yang Hui was of no more use to him, Li Yang was prepared to unleash his ultimate move.
"He can start next Monday. Should he do a direct handover with Yang Hui, or should we put him through some pre-employment training first?"
"Train him first. The handover can be at the end of the month. As of July 1st, Yang Hui no longer needs to set foot in this company. The new guy will take over in July. It’ll make his performance review cleaner that way."
Dan Biao acknowledged the order, but a sense of panic suddenly crept into his heart. ’After Yang Hui leaves, will Airex collapse again?’ He had heard from HR that Zhu Jing had already submitted her resignation a few days ago, requesting that her last day be at the beginning of next month. Dan Biao understood she was leaving to follow Yang Hui.
He himself had been trying to stay on Yang Hui’s good side, so of course he wasn’t going to stand in Zhu Jing’s way. Besides, it would be useless to try. Putting himself in her shoes, if Yang Hui offered him a position at Yanghe Commerce today with a compensation package far exceeding his current one, he would part ways with Li Yang in a heartbeat. Even he was tempted by the salaries at Yanghe Commerce, let alone the team supervisors. The pay was several times what they were making now.
Fortunately, Yang Hui hadn’t gone too far; he hadn’t taken the entire team with him. If he had, Dan Biao would have truly had a breakdown. Thankfully, Yang Hui still had some professional ethics. Taking one or two of your trusted subordinates with you is one thing; no one would say much. But poaching the entire team? That was something else entirely.
"Xiaodan, you and Zhang Li still need to strengthen your operations management. There have been some personnel changes at Xinyue Group recently, so it’ll be impossible for Yang Hui to get as many resources as before. Consequently, Yanghe Commerce’s sales performance should see a decline. This is our best opportunity to close the performance gap with them. You two need to seize it. Don’t let your operations drag down our channel expansion efforts.
"I’ve also had Xiaohan negotiating with Yida Department Store recently, trying to open five or six NLB stores. Their model is purely commission-based, so while the sales performance won’t be stellar, the risk of financial loss is low."
Dan Biao’s head throbbed just listening to this. ’More low-performing stores... I’ll need to hire dozens of new employees for those. The most troublesome part is that with low sales, the staff’s commissions will be low. Add on top of that the insane performance metrics Li Yang loves to create, and these stores will just be a revolving door. We’ll lose employees as fast as we hire them.’
After Dan Biao left, Li Yang called in Han Chao. For the past two days, Han Chao had been beaming, all because Zhao Rui’s aunt was "about to be appointed as the Regional General Manager of the Qingjiang Region." Lately, he had been under orders to wine and dine Zhao Rui to build a closer relationship, even making several trips to business KTVs.
"Xiaohan, don’t just fucking wine and dine all day. You still need to push forward with channel expansion. We’ll wait for President Zhao to take office to deal with Xinyue Group, but you need to hurry things up with Yida Department Store."
A few days ago, he had sent Han Chao to Yida Department Store to negotiate store placements, but there had been no update since.
