Chapter 366 - 365: Another Public Display of Saintly Power
Taoist Yan Song flew across the Sahara Desert to Kabia in West Africa. Using the map provided by the Taoist Office, he quickly located the factory complex.
Then he saw the scene before him.
Weakened patients, furious workers, a warlord’s troops blocking the gate, and a crowd of local onlookers.
And so, Taoist Yan Song made no attempt to hide, materializing in plain sight. He gazed impassively at the officer before him, a man who looked to be in charge but was merely carrying out orders.
Just as the officer shouted a curse, a terrified and panicked soldier instinctively opened fire.
"BANG!"
Following that first gunshot, the other terrified soldiers, their guns already raised, couldn’t help but pull their triggers.
"BANG! BANG! BANG!"
More than a dozen rifles fired in unison, sending hundreds of bullets hurtling toward Taoist Yan Song.
Then, when they came to their senses and hastily stopped shooting, everyone watched in horror as the hundreds of bullets froze in mid-air around Taoist Yan Song, just like the bullet time effect in movies.
Endless terror filled everyone’s eyes, because they knew this wasn’t a movie!
The next moment, without so much as a flicker in the old man’s eyes, all the bullets vanished instantly. The crowd couldn’t see their trajectories, hearing only a series of sharp whistles as they tore through the air.
Every soldier who had fired heard a sharp whistle by his ear, then his left ear grew hot as blood began to flow.
"AHHHH!"
"My ear!"
Instinctively, they dropped their weapons, screaming in agony as they clutched their ears.
And for good reason—the others could see trickles of blood seeping between their fingers. Those with sharp eyes noticed that a piece of each shooter’s earlobe had been sliced off by a bullet.
This was merely a casual act from the terrifying old man.
All eyes shifted back to Taoist Yan Song. The expression in each person’s eyes was different: fear, shock, delight, anticipation, disbelief, and even gnashed teeth.
"Hmph!"
Sensing the crowd’s gazes, Taoist Yan Song snorted coldly and blew out a gentle puff of air.
The next moment, the Taiyi Divine Wind materialized out of thin air. A seemingly gentle yet wild gust swept through. It didn’t stir a single hair on the heads of the ordinary people, yet the military vehicles at the gate and the weapons in the soldiers’ hands were all swept up into the air.
"CLATTER-CLANG—"
"CRASH! RATTLE—"
Pickups, jeeps, rifles, machine guns, pistols...
Before the terrified eyes of the crowd, the deadly steel contraptions were lifted into the air by an unseen force as if they were children’s toys, then drawn together.
In the air, these objects collided, compressed, and twisted, finally merging into a large, misshapen ball of metal.
"BOOM!"
The metal ball dropped, crashing down in front of the lead commander and making the ground tremble violently.
Staring at the indescribable mass of steel before him, the lead commander’s lips trembled. He couldn’t help but gulp as a drop of cold sweat trickled down his temple. He was rendered speechless.
The next moment, the crowd saw Taoist Yan Song wave his hand. Two streams of visible green light shot out and entered the bodies of the two patients lying on stretchers.
In a matter of breaths, the color returned to the two patients’ faces at a visible rate. Then, they abruptly sat up and climbed off the stretchers on their own.
Everyone: !!!
"Thank you, Immortal Master!" The two patients, a man and a woman, bowed deeply in unison before Taoist Yan Song.
"Holy shit!"
"An Immortal!"
"Holy cow!"
Seeing Taoist Yan Song heal the two patients with a single wave, all the Celestial Xia People present knew this Taoist Master was on their side.
Everyone gazed at Taoist Yan Song with adoration, but they all remained disciplined and silent. Only the general manager stepped forward to introduce himself. "Greetings, Immortal. I am the director of Celestial Xia XX Mining’s operations in Kabia. I..."
The general manager gave a quick explanation, and Taoist Yan Song listened quietly.
The situation was simple, and Taoist Yan Song had already known the gist of it before arriving. The general manager’s explanation merely filled in the finer, more immediate details. Yan Song now also knew that the person who had truly given the order was none other than Kabia’s new interim Grand Commander.
Nabi Konate.
Taoist Yan Song nodded. "I understand."
As soon as he finished speaking, Taoist Yan Song casually waved his hand again.
A gale erupted out of nowhere. All the Kabian soldiers at the factory gate were swept up, sent tumbling hundreds of meters through the air before they crashed to the ground, battered, bruised, and covered in dust.
"Scram!" Taoist Yan Song’s voice rang in every soldier’s ear.
Although most of them didn’t understand the Celestial Xia language, they understood the meaning of that simple, one-syllable word. And even if they didn’t, the harshness of his tone, coupled with the fact that he’d sent them flying hundreds of meters with a wave of his sleeve, was enough to get the message across.
The Kabian soldiers scrambled to their feet, crying for their mothers and fathers. They fled in a chaotic stampede, wishing their parents had given them two more legs as they ran for their lives.
The local onlookers, who had been watching the spectacle, let out a collective cry and scattered as well.
The only ones remaining were the workers from the Celestial Xia factory complex.
"Immortal Master, you..."
"Don’t call me Immortal Master. I’m just an ordinary old Daoist."
With only their own people remaining, Taoist Yan Song chuckled. "I used to cultivate on Qingcheng Mountain," he said. "And I think I heard a familiar local accent earlier."
From the crowd of workers, two men’s faces flushed red with excitement.
"That was me! That was me!"
"I’m from Shu Province too!"
This quickly bridged the gap between them.
Taoist Yan Song laughed heartily. He then said to the general manager at the front, "You’re all safe now. Contact the embassy and see what they arrange for the follow-up."
"Of course, of course." The general manager nodded repeatedly. "And you, sir..."
"My work here isn’t done." Taoist Yan Song smiled faintly as his body began to rise into the air again. "I came here to make a statement. How could I possibly return without meeting this Nabi Konate in person?"
The next moment, Taoist Yan Song transformed into a streak of light and shot off toward Kabia’s capital.
The factory complex.
First, there was silence. Then, a few quiet words were spoken. The murmurs grew louder and louder, finally erupting into joyous cheers.
"I knew it! I knew it!"
"The hell you did!"
"I’ve been keeping up with videos from back home! The Mongolian Mine Disaster, the airliner in Shu Province... word has been spreading for ages that there are Extraordinary Beings. I just never imagined one would fly all the way to Kabia to save us! Are we really that important?"
"There was that recent video of a rescue at West Mountain, too!"
"That’s right! West Mountain, Qingcheng Mountain... the old Daoist masters really are all cultivating deep in the mountains. When they do emerge, it’s to save people. Totally different from certain other religions."
"The first place I’m going when I get back home is Qingcheng Mountain!"
"Count me in!"
"So," someone suddenly asked, "where do you think the old Daoist went? What’s he planning to do?"
The general manager sneered, his gaze fixed on the direction of Kabia’s capital. "Think they can just take advantage of us? It’s not that simple!"
