Chapter 1494: You Will Never Lose Me
Sometimes, Scarlett Yates feels that women are really greedy.
Some people clearly know it’s impossible to be together, even though they’ve already openly rejected the other person, they still dislike the idea of that person really leaving them.
This is how she feels about Knox Simmons.
She does not have romantic feelings for him; she knows very well that the only person she likes is Matthew Saxon. She has told Knox this, hoping he would give up and not waste his emotions on her anymore.
Yet, she doesn’t want to become a stranger to Knox Simmons.
This man who can bring her warmth on cold winter nights, she doesn’t want to lose him.
Isn’t that right? She is indeed very greedy.
She wants Knox Simmons to give up, yet she also wants to continue being friends with him. If she were Knox Simmons, she’d surely seize this opportunity to criticize her severely.
Time seemed to pass both very slowly and very quickly.
In any case, after a moment of waiting, Knox Simmons gave her an answer.
It was an answer he had given after carefully thinking it over.

Coming out of the restaurant, the sky was completely dark.
As Scarlett Yates stepped out of the restaurant’s revolving glass door, she saw Matthew Saxon’s car parked in the parking area nearby.
When she came out, she checked the time and realized that though she had planned for an hour, it was actually an hour and a half by the time everything was settled.
She wondered if Matthew had already had dinner.
Just thinking about his current health condition made Scarlett Yates furrow her brow, her face took on a slightly heavy look that was lighter moments before.
She quickly walked toward Matthew Saxon’s Lamborghini.

As she walked, a very strange feeling came over her.
Suddenly, a chill shot up her back, as if cold air had risen from below, yet she distinctly felt it coming from a certain direction behind her.
Her heart skipped a beat.
Normally, she wouldn’t be this alert, nor so sensitive.
But after that phone call in the afternoon, her heart felt like it was hanging in mid-air, always anxious. Coupled with Matthew’s mention of someone following her, the chill on her back felt even more intense and piercing.
She paused for a moment, then quickly strode forward, her steps becoming faster and more urgent.
The thought that Maxwell Saxon might be watching her from the shadows made her feel terrified.
Scarlett was almost to Matthew’s car when the door opened, and Matthew Saxon got out first.
It seemed he had already seen her, and specifically got out early to greet her. After getting out, he walked directly toward her: "Finished the talk?"
Scarlett Yates walked quickly to his side and only when she reached him did that eerie feeling fade a bit; she nodded: "Yes, finished."
Matthew Saxon looked down at her for a moment, furrowing his brow: "Why do you look a bit pale? Did that kid Second Simmons say something unpleasant?"
Scarlett Yates shook her head: "No, he didn’t say a single unpleasant word."
Everything he said was in her best interest.
Speaking of Knox Simmons, Scarlett’s eyes reddened a bit.
In the end, it was actually a rather good outcome.
Even if Knox Simmons criticized Matthew Saxon mercilessly, when she resolved to return to Matthew’s side, he still offered his blessing.
He said, "Scarlett, even if I can’t be with you, seeing you happy makes me happy too."
He also said, "Scarlett, why are you asking such silly questions? No matter your choice, you will never lose me. Just one call and I’ll still drive to find you in the middle of the night, and anyone who bullies you, I’ll make them regret it."
